GameStop plays it cool with PS3, Wii pre-orders [update 1]

According to GameStop CFO and executive VP David Carlson, the game retailer is holding off on taking PlayStation 3 and Wii pre-orders until they know how many systems the company will have. Sounds like they have learned their lesson after the Xbox 360 debacle -- however, we're still expecting outrageous bundles.

Carlson predicts that his company the U.S. will have 1 million PlayStation 3 units and 750,000 Wii consoles, which will be about half of the initial worldwide shipment promised by Sony.

Anyways, expect GameStop pre-orders to start when Carlson receives an official word on launch numbers. He expects to know Nintendo's launch details first, later this month, before Sony gives a definitive figure.
