The Japanese Xbox360 sales are confusing, Myself and at least 5 people I know have a Japanese Xbox360, all bought within the last 4 months. I have trouble believing my friends and I account for .1% of 360 sales in Japan in that timeframe.

This post wins the contest, and I pity the silly billies who don't think it's amusing and spot-on.

In a completely serious question, if you think the blazing satire of this post wasn't even the least bit funny, I want to know why. Tell me what does make you laugh or smile. I'm truly interested.

why is it a good thing that the DS is beating the PSP? do all of you want nothing but Nintendo titles to play while you're on the go?

also, 12 million units sold is not a bad thing at all, especially when considering that the other competitors to Nintendo handhelds (Game Gear, Atari Lynx, Neo Geo Pocket Color, Wonderswan, N-Gage), barely sold 1 million copies. the fact that Sony has managed to penetrate the handheld market is something i feel is worthy of respect.

anyway, back to point 1: if there were nothing but Nintendo handhelds on the market, those of us who aren't exactly jumping up and down each time a new Mario title is announced would be left out of the handheld loop, as, honestly, there aren't many developers that make decent handheld titles on Nintendo consoles (Konami is one of the exceptions, as the Castlevania series on handhelds is always top notch).

for me, who doesn't care for Nintendogs, Mario, or what have you, a Nintendo handheld isn't an appealing purchase.

a PSP, however, which does more than play games (back when i had a GBA, once i was done playing it, it'd go back on the shelf until i felt the urge to play a video game again, which was rare), appeals to a gamer such as myself, whose life doesn't revolve around games 24/7. after i finish playing Exit, Lumines, Tomb Raider Legends, and Tekken, i can listen to music, watch a movie or television shows (i was just watching the Spider-Man animated series from Fox a few days ago), and do any number of other things with the device beyond just gaming.

if Nintendo still dominated the handheld market 100%, there would be no competition, and Nintendo would get complacent (like they did prior to the DS; releasing iteration after iteration of the GameBoy, simply because they could, and with no real other motivation). Now that the PSP is on the scene, Nintendo is being forced to constantly improve, thus resulting in better games for their consumer, and those not interested in Nintendo's handheld offerings have an alternative in the PSP. it's a win/win.

also, since the DS is kicking ass, it'll only push Sony to up their game with the PSP (and judging by titles like Daxter, Syphon Filter, Exit, Loco Roco, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Silent Hill: Origins, Tekken: Dark Ressurection, Tomb Raider Legends, Ratchet and Clank PSP, and Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, they are starting to push themselves and their 3rd party developers to put out higher quality software). again, it's a win/win for both Sony and Nintendo fans. some of you guys need to lighten up and put down the fanboy flags.

i'm a Playstation fan for the most part, but that didn't stop me from getting a Gamecube and X Box, and it won't stop me from getting a Wii and 360 to go along with my PS3.

I for one, don't use my DS or my PSP hardly at all. Portable gaming is over-rated in my opinion.

Movies on a 4" screen is painful. Music on a TI-85 sized device is ridiculous. Games that look pretty, but aren't portable-friendly aren't that great either.

Playing games with a stylus hurts after a while. And staring at those small screens for too long is bad for your health. But most games are geared for quick play so that's not a problem.

I'm dying for the Wii to come out. The PS3 might be nice to have, depending. And more 360 games.
