Gothic 3 updated screens

CVG has snagged a half dozen new screens of Aspyr Media's Gothic 3, showcasing the beautifully rendered environments of Myrtana. The Gothic series has always been praised for its advanced AI and lively NPCs, but the first two installments suffered from poor voiceovers and non-intuitive controls. Hopefully, German developer Piranha Bytes has addressed these issues for one of the most anticipated PC titles of the year.

Gothic was one of my favorite RPGs ever. I can't wait.

Man... I can't believe they could possibly make a sequal to something like Gothic 2. That's like making a sequal to Baldur's Gate 2 in 3D... Oh wait~

I've been waiting for this for a long time. I've enjoyed the previous installments a great deal. I'm not sure I remember all the subplots though. A replay may be inorder before I pick up this game.

If anything, the second game suffered from insane difficulty. I can’t even begin to count how many times wolves killed me near town. Add the fact that there wasn’t any way to turn the difficulty level down and the game was a total turnoff for me.
Poor voiceovers? I hope that doesn’t mean the fact that everyone spoke with an American accent instead of a British one. I couldn't believe how refreshing that was.

It was good to read an entire comments section that was not filled with fanboyism spewing poison.
Having played both Gothic I and II, I am quite intrigued by this game. But since the days of wondering the huge open-ended landscape, I have given up PC gaming. I do hope that this game will see the light on a console someday.

Yes because American accents sound so realistic in a medieval environment.

Ooops! Here is another game NOT coming to the POS PS3!

Dang Justin...you ruined my momment of Zen.
Actually this comment section is so free of hate and name calling. I think I will only read PC game related news articles.

If the voice actors are American, then I'd far rather have them speak in tones that are more natural to them rather than making a butchered attempt at the Queens English.
That's before even mentioning that the hundreds of forms of Middle English spoken in the middle ages bear very little relationship with the Chancery Standard form of English that morphed into the modern language.
That and that the official court language was Anglo-Norman French.
British accents are as out of place as any other modern speech would be.

STFU Thryon! You know its not coming to the POS PS3 or PS4 or PS5...hell there won't even be a PS4 or PS5!!! FANBOYS UNITE! LONG LIVE THE 360!
J.Goodwin @ Aug 18th 2006 3:15PM
At least Chancery is somewhat legible to a modern reader (Canterbury Tales, check it out).

Justin dude..chill.
I have stated many times that I am the biggest Xbox 360 fanboy there is. I have two premium consoles at home. I have 22 Xbox 360 games. I have the t-shirts, I have personalized XBOX360 license plates on my jeep. I have Xbox360UberGamer and xbox360poweruser registered to my name. I have my own Xbox 360 fan club in my area....
The difference is that while I am a fanboy, I see no point in starting flame wars. I come here to read about games...for before I was a fanboy, I was/ gamer. I learnt a while back, not to get emotional about any post (see my nice negative star, I used to have two a while back after a called poster a bunch of *bleep*)
I will not post on this topic again, for it is not related to Gothic III, and does not belong here.

Thryon you are such a lamer! I was just playing w/ya. I'm bored at work and just waiting for 5pm to roll around! Don't get your panties in a bunch.

Oh man tooootally looking forward to this. I really enjoyed Gothic 1 and 2 for their vastness and scope, and can't wait to see what this has in store.
Oh, as for the difficulty, that was my favourite part! Because later in the game, when you can take out a freakin' orc (toughest orcs in any game) with a few swipes of a sword (or blasts of a fireball,) you KNOW that you have definitely gotten more powerful.

If I can bang any hot NPC chicks at anytime I saw them, then I only will say that's a lively NPC.
