Um, Real is still a company? Have they lessened their insistence on using adware?

Real has behaved rather nicely in the last few years, even if the RealArcade app is clunky. Rhapsody is a fabulous product, too.

RealArcade is one of the best kept secrets for casual-style games, I've downloaded and played hundreds of games to my heart's content without ever paying a single dime. ;)

Sorry, I won't let anything with the name "Real" anywhere near my computer. Hell, I even had to go through and delete every trace of Real Player from over 25 PCs at work. Yeah, that was fun...

despite the negative image real has, i'm pleased to see, after learning about the realarcade service, that they are going to be, hopefully, bringing a load of casual games to the xbox live arcade.

I'm just wondering what happened to all the RealArcade games that were going to be part of XBLA according to this:

The RealArcade Game Pass is actually a pretty cool deal. I have blogged about it before, but in a nutshell, you get a new full-game every month for $8.

And there are some "real" gems on that service too. RPG fans should definitely check out Geneforge 1 & 2 which are on there as good old school turn-based RPG goodness. They have a lot of good Shmumps, and tons of puzzle games. Plus tons of quirky little games that are a good time waster for a few hours, like Diner Dash. I love the pirate/trader game Tradewinds also.

I'm also entirely anti-Real, but I do frequent Reflexive Arcade (mostly due to the handy dandy 3-click-crack that works on every single one of their games, yarrr), and I have a feeling I might know what their 'super-secret' method might be...

Is a clone of something we already sold?
Is themed in a) outer space, b) ancient egypt, or c) a garden?
Have we made sure that there is utterly no useful features in this game, like using the right mouse button for anything, or being able to resize the screen?
Have we obfuscated the support lanes for this game so utterly that anybody having troubles will give up first?
