World of Warcraft tops 10 best selling PC games for July

I imagine Blizzard execs have this big room that they just fill with $100 bills. Then they can go swimming in it, like Scrooge McDuck.

Seriously, the PC is a DEAD PLATFORM. PC users like to talk smack about Mac users, but they're still playing the same damn four year old games.

Keep in mind Goodwin doesn't know anything about PC gaming. PC is the best place for RTS games and with the vast number of mods that people create for most games, you get the most diversity in PC gaming.

Maybe if Goodwin had friends to play games with, like most people probably do on WoW or Guild Wars he would see it's not dead.

Or, perhaps, I have actual friends to play with, instead of quasi-friends who exist in some far away place that I've only ever had contact with via the internet.

Since world of warcraft came out 2004 and it is 2006 now, I am wondering how Goodwin got to the point that wow has been around four years? See what happens when you are a fanboy to busy trying to take shots at the PC rather than make sense, you made yourself look totally idiotic. You also make yourself look completely ignorant of the MMORPG world, since content has been added in those two years(four years on the Goodwin calender) World of Warcraft has been around. Last and most important, you just crapped on one of the more popular games on the MAC software line up. SO popular that Apple pointed WOW out specifically, when it came to a feature that will be added to Leopord.

People please stop being fanboys, yes some PC people attack the mac, but are they really worth your time? We don't answer people back who yell NINTENDO IS GAY, or SOny SUX COX! The reason is those people are idiots, and the time it takes to filling insults back at them only dulls our own intelligence. You could be really knowledgeable about the mac, and an avid gamer, but the ten seconds it took to take your anger out on some idiot who yelled MACS SUXS made you look just as foolish as them. Seriously was it worth it, or when you look back on it now was it just a waste of your time?

Geez you have to be kidding. PC Games owns you. I play games on my PS2 and 360 but you cant compare the pleasure and joy of playing games like Guild Wars, Counter Strike, FEAR, Far Cry and so on with a mouse and a keyboard.

Ok Goodwin is dumb.

First of all, World of Warcraft is an MMORPG, where you pay a monthly fee to play, but because of it, there's always NEW CONTENT. To call it the same game for 4 years(even though it's only been two) is just crazy, since it's changed SO MUCH since it was released(trust me, I was playing it back then).

Secondly, World of Warcraft is also the best selling *MAC* game... So really, who are you insulting?

How much money does Blizzard have? Let's not even take into account Starcraft, Diablo, or any other money they had before WoW. It was estimated in like February that there were 6 million subscribers. That doesn't count people who have a trial or any free subscription. The game is like $20 bucks now, but since a lot of people bought it for $50, lets say the average amount Blizzard has sold WoW for is $40. 6,000,000*40= 240,000,000 6,000,000*15*12=1,080,000,000

Even if Blizzard is spending 100 million a year to upkeep World of Warcraft, they are still pulling in over a billion dollars a year. And Wikipedia estimates around 1,600 employees at Blizzard. That's an average of over $750,000 per employee. God Damn!

I have a Mac and PC and PS2. Mac is good for burning dvd/cd. Mainly media related. Although I do like paying WoW on it from time to time. PC is overaqll best graphics and best thing to play any RTS on. PS2/360 is by far the funnest to play any FPS on. I know, I know way more options when playing FPS on a PC. I jsut like the gamepad setup for aim / accuracy. Overall PC is not dead, Mac is deffinently still lagging in over games but doing much better then 5 years ago, and consoles pretty much rule the game market with more games = less quality.

Judd, nice math. The numbers would need to be dialled down a little, because, I believe, subscribers pay different ammounts in different countries. Ot would be insane to charge $15USD in places like China, where few people have that kind of cash.

STILL, at half that, I think half a bil is pretty darn respectible. Also, I wonder what % of that Sierra gets.

hey all i jsut wonted to add a comment iv been playing wow now for about 3 month unlike most game mmos mainly this game is easyer to play easyer to understand you can have a break from the game and still know loads MOST people are nice helpfull and do alot for low lvl runing instances quest and wat not i have played many mmos guildwars,starwars,auto assult,eve,and coh on these games i found them hard to play and full of stupid pricks who doint help if any of u are out there doint take offence jsut play wow peace out and thx for reading
