Wots a fatboy? lol as much as I want it to be a new gameboy i'm pretty sure it aint!
alexkid @ Aug 20th 2006 12:25PM
I KNOW WHAT A FATBOY IS!!!!
it's not a new kind of game boy on steroid: it's a very huge and stylized pillow! i know it because nintendo France has a lot of them in their office and i happen to go there quite often... which allows me to tell you that u'll probably be quite surprise with the annoucements coming from nintendo this week... those looking for a precise release date might be in for a small letdown... however... the point is, as always, watch for the games!!!
Andr @ Aug 20th 2006 12:25PM
Fatboy is a sack to sit on.
See here: http://www.tolle-geschenke.com/c127.html

Wonder what's playing on the 360 in the MS section...hm...
Rare Hare @ Aug 20th 2006 12:48PM
Am I the only one who's more exited about the Blizzard booth than anything else? Please, announce the development of Diablo III. Even if it takes another 10 years... I'll always wait for you.
Diablo? Best.Franchise.Ever.
James @ Aug 20th 2006 12:50PM
Microsoft has a stargate?
James Sorensen @ Aug 20th 2006 12:53PM

i think it only is this year due to ps3 and wii launches
Colin @ Aug 20th 2006 12:53PM
Whats with the stargate? I thought it was cancelled?
Wiicarus @ Aug 20th 2006 12:56PM

Doople @ Aug 20th 2006 12:56PM

The girls workin' look hot!
Cyport @ Aug 20th 2006 1:16PM
Aww, I thought a fatboy was a fat fanboy. Oh well anyway I am looking forward to the complete designs. microsofts area looking best so far.
Roddie @ Aug 20th 2006 1:22PM
Ok, now I really want one of those fatboy bean bag things.
marcin @ Aug 20th 2006 1:28PM
cyport, yeh i went to Zero Hour and the design there was amazing.
Blink @ Aug 20th 2006 1:29PM
Microsoft is really going for this green = life thing, with the forests and trees and bunnies and all that. I'm really suprised Nintendo hasn't done that with their Blue Ocean strategy for the Wii, giving everything a touch of blue like the Wii has, and making everything semiaquatic. I think it'd feel fresh and exciting!
EdZ @ Aug 20th 2006 1:39PM
The game companies are run by the goa'uld! Microsoft has a frickin' Stargate, Sony has those ring doodads (looks like they're sending some HDTVs up to the mothership) and Nintendo... I dunno. Maybe the WiiMote zaps people or something.
geekRECON @ Aug 20th 2006 2:04PM
#17, the Wiimote is a zatn'kitel!
Ben @ Aug 20th 2006 2:12PM
EP: The girls working there are not hot. There are a grand total of two (2) girls in all the pictures, they both appear to be the same girl, and she looks to be in her late 30's. Beside which, it's a sideways shot that doesn't give you a clear look at any part of her (her face isn't that great). I mean, she's skinny and wearing what people in the 1920's would have considered risque clothes, but beyond that, try going outside into the real world because you'll see much more attractive women.
Daniel @ Aug 20th 2006 2:42PM
@ben: it's not the same girl, trust me. :)
MegaMatt @ Aug 20th 2006 2:46PM
I found the one standing up to be attractive also and I'm constantly in the "real world" hell, I live there
Seer @ Aug 20th 2006 2:56PM
Face the truth, Rare Hare: there will never be any more diablos! From now on, there is only WoW!!!
Haha, just kidding, at least I hope so. I can't wait for a diii/sc2.
bv @ Aug 20th 2006 3:00PM
This looks like E3 with the weirdly decorated booths and everything. Guess gamers have nothing to worry about in terms of video game events.
Alex P @ Aug 20th 2006 3:18PM
AHH! DAS Treppenstufenbekleberin!!!
German is a fun language. :(
GSI @ Aug 20th 2006 3:52PM
When I first saw this article I thought it said "GDC" instead of "GC." LOL
As for the girls looking hot...be careful...they might have hairy pits. LOL
3-1/2 days until Nintendo's Press Conference...
Leper Messiah @ Aug 20th 2006 4:54PM
Microsoft's booth looks so inviting and comfortable and calm and soothing, if I was going to GDC, I'd probably go there after I get done sitting on fatboys and swinging a wiimote around, and just relax and feed some squirrels or something.
And dont the fatboys look a buttload like the beanbags you hit in SSBM? You think theyre like interactive? Like you swing the wiimote at them and depending on how fast you swung it, a springloaded launcher catapaults it halfway across the room..... towards the sony booth?
T-Bag @ Aug 20th 2006 4:56PM
@ Rare Hare,
Actually, if I had to pick the worst series Blizzard put out it would have to be the Diablo serious. Not because of the story mind you, the be frank, the story was absolute genius. Though roughing it out through the single player of either game was just horrible. I loved the setting, loved the music, loved the idea, just hated the games. Not to mention the hack spree which took place online in those games.
Anyhow, back on topic. I'm most excited about Microsoft’s booth because of what might possibly be on the screen of those monitors. And also anything new is good for something that’s already out. Rather than telling us the Wii can use microphone or the PS3 can solve world hunger.
Piranacon @ Aug 20th 2006 5:45PM
T-bag you mock the PS3 and the saving world hunger, but you'd be amazed how many bugers you can get under that grill :P, sorry it was a cheap joke but I couldn't help it.
I'm looking forward to the GC:
Sony have said that they've got some big ancouncements: http://news.spong.com/article/10614
Nintendo might actually give a release date.
MS is bound to have something other than XNA to talk about.
socrates @ Aug 20th 2006 6:13PM
T-Bag -
I'm surprised how well you write for having such an unfortunate name...but I think you're way off on the Diablo games. Diablo II's singleplayer was just fine on normal difficulty...but it was never really meant to be a singleplayer game in general, and especially not on nightmare/hell modes.
Diablo was 50 different kinds of innovative, and it did a lot to create the marketbase that would later help MMORPGs flourish. You really have to give more credit to the Diablo franchise than Warcraft for the creation and absoludricous success of WoW...so the interesting question is, how are they going to make D3 differentiate itself from WoW? Some clever way to enable more casual play, and yet keep all of the super deep and time consuming item hunts, etc.
Adam Johnson @ Aug 20th 2006 8:26PM
If Nintendo doesnt reveal date and price this week i'm going to kill myself. They're being so annoying with their secrets, almost like when you were little and your parents wouldnt tell you if Santa was or wasnt going to bring you what you want on xmas.
electro^plankton @ Aug 21st 2006 4:22AM
Okay, here's the plan. Run to Ninty's booth, grab a fatboy pillow. Make way to Sony's booth and use fatboy to knock down the letter 'L' so it spells 'Paystation". Then run as FAST AS WE CAN thru Microsoft's Stargate and hope to God we end up safe and sound at home.
Lisa @ Oct 3rd 2006 6:15AM
maybe they will change there minds & still make the Stargate game for PS2 ( I pray anyway, we bought a PS2 last year just for that game & have found no games we like ) or if they release one for another system we will probably buy that system too.
