HO-LY-SHIT.

Those last 2 videos were just BAD ASS!

I just hope EP2 doesn't have a lot of those "escort missions" that the end of EP1 had b/c that got kind of boring at a while.

Team Fortress looked awesome as well. I except there to be a LAN party here at my office when that baby comes out.

I just can't get over how fanstastic the art style of Team Fortress 2 is. Hopefully the character animations translate well into the actual game.

And I'm a huge fan of puzzle games, so Portal has me super excited... I just hope there are hundreds of puzzles and not just 10 or so. And I hope they allow users to create their own maps for Portal, that would increase the life of the game by 1000%.

I really applaud Valve and their recent record. Decide to distribute your games online through one source. Great Source engine. Three, yes three, good games coming out. I know TF2 will not disappoint and neither will Portal, which looks the most spectacular of all, IMO. The concept of that game (and the outcome) are damn amazing!

@ Dr. Swiss,

You do realize HL2: E1 came and went with no real attention being paid, right? Halo 3 on the other hand... Need I say more? lol It's like comparing a phenom (Master Chief) to an unknown Gordon Freeman. A nerd with a crowbar? Are you serious? Just pick up a crow bar Swiss, you already have the nerd part set.

TF2 is easily the best use of the Source engine I've seen yet. Nothing before has even come close, but that looks pretty decent.

Best part of the video, by far, was the spy and his balisong. Beautiful. I just hope you can still disguise yourself as the enemy, too.

While TFC2 and Portal look absolutely incredible and I can't wait to play them, one thing about HL2 looks like it might be even better.

That is the feeling of despair and hopelessness of your situation, which is especially evident when fighting the tripod dudes. You're just running away, picking up anything - tires, buckets, hatchets, metal - and flinging it at the enemy. It feels so perfect, a Frankenstein moment where they just keep coming.

I really hope they stick some new weapons in HL2:2. Ep 1 was wonderful but I was disappointed that I didn't get a new weapon to unleash on the combine (cept that black hole nade, but technically it wasn't suppose to be there and inevitably killed Alyx every time I used it.)

You know what valve is the best at? Everything. =D

@ Mr. Bill,

You were horny when you were writing that, weren't you? As for the "good game" comment. In the context that which this matter at hand is being disputed, that does not make sense. Good game. Oh and please by all means use my rebuttal against me. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.

@ Grotesquely Suggestive Ignorance,

You sir, are an idiot. After explaining why it is I have these negative stars, you still find hope in basing attacks to degrade me through them. Well, go ahead. In fact I applaud your fruitless efforts. *clap* *clap*

"On what planet were you living on? Your biased fanboyism is blantantly obvious."

“…blantantly“?

Fanboyism, ha ha, ha ha, ha ha. If you've read my recent posts they've quite literally been nothing but hate and angst towards the 360 platform, and yet you have the balls to call me a fanboy. ha ha, good sir, ha ha! Aside from that though, if you had a means in which to contemplate logic (i.e. a mind) you'd see that I was right. Halo 3's going to have lines going to down streets. People anxiously waiting for hours if not days out front of the stores. HL2: E1? It had a few nerds talking about spoilers on the internets.

The flamethrower guy is not focused on in the TF2 video.. anyone knows what's his description? (though I think it might be OMGWTFBBQ for some reason..)

Engineer = Area Denial (builds turrets, uses shotgun)
Heavy = Mow Down (chaingun, doesn't seem to require reloading, slight startup time)
Sniper = Precision Elimination (distant headshots, sniper rifle)
Spy = Uncloak and Dagger (cloaking, backstab melee = instant kill)
Scout = Rapid Recovery (very fast, evades people with low accuracy weapons, uses baton (unknown if baton effect is stun or lethal))
Demoman = House Cleaning (uses grenade aluncher, dynamites. Dynamites can 1-hit KO turrets and releases delayed explosives. Turrets seems to have low effect on Demoman)
Soldier = Shock and Awe (uses rocket launcher, can rocket jump, there seem to be either slight damage from landing or rocket-jumping, seems to be weak against Heavy and turrets)

Your comments: I've had my fill of HL2 back in the months when it was first released for PC. The source engine "issues" took the shine out of the game
then and I've not been able to get pumped about it since. (and no, tweak guides did not help on 4 systems - the engine was f'd back then and prob still is)
I think it's time Valve stop milking this cash cow and did HL3 (with a complete overhaul) or create some new I.P.

Portal does look interesting though, will be keeping my eye on that one!

You're still an idiot T-Bag...and you constant childish bashing of anyone who has a different opinion then you shows you have no real logical and educated thought in your head.

-->"I think it's time Valve stop milking this cash cow and did HL3 (with a complete overhaul.)"

The Half-Life 2 episodic content IS HL3. Gabe Newell said weeks (maybe more) ago that rather then taking and couple years to do HL3 from the ground up, they are doing it this way.

What's funny is that you say that they are "milking" the franchise but then ask them to do HL3. You're being a hypocrite.

I would rather have them do it this way and get it out of the way so they can focus on a new IP quicker.

You know, I have to completely credit Valve reigniting the flame between me and PC gaming. Hell, I haven't been this enthusiastic about PC games since the days of Commander Keen, Wolfenstein, Jazz Jackrabbit, Duke Nukem back for MS-DOS. I'm usually not that into FPS due to their cookie cutter reputation but when a game like HL2 comes along I can't resist giving it a whirl.

From those demos, it looks like Valve is going to deliver what we've been hoping for in Ep 2. There's only one word that can describe the awesomeness yet to come:

Gahlumbahgalilliba!

So like I said...there is a reason why you have 4 negative stars and it will continue to go that way.

"If you had paid close enough attention to what I said in my first reply you would have understood why."

...so, what, blaming others because you get into flame wars with people?

Then again, simply perpetuating this flame war gets no-one nowhere. So T-Bag (that is a really poorly chosen username) doesn't like Half-Life. Big deal. He's in the minority, and yet feels the need to tell us all about how bad the Half-Life episodes are, despite their critical and commercial acclaim. (In any case, the idea behind the episodes is that as 2 & 3 come out, people go back and check out the first episode as well.) I'd just ignore him, much like you ignore Scientologists on the street who want to hook you up to an e-meter.

The one thing that strikes me above all else is Valve's ability to add scripted sequences and make them appear spontaneous. I don't mean this in an 'ZOMG scripted=teh suxorz valveu r cheaters !!11eleventyone!' sense, rather that they use the sequences in short bursts that are indistinguishable from unscripted gameplay. The strider smashing that building at the end of the last trailer was scripted, but definitely didn't look it. It has, what I call, the 'Goddamn Awesome' factor.
