If he will not give you his keys, then take his pants. "Give me your pants."

This thread shall also serve as the obligatory "Does anyone have it yet and is it cool?" post.

I downloaded it this morning and played a small amount of single player.

If you've played online poker any, you're going to miss some things:

1. The interface kind of sucks. The cards are relatively small compared to the rest of the crap on the screen, and the positioning of bet amounts and such is a bit off. I'd like something 2-d instead of the fakey 3d they're using.

2. The complete lack of "do this when my turn comes." Like if I see my cards and I know I'm going to fold, no matter what, I still have to wait for the action to come to me and then hit the fold button.

3. The sound effects and music are both pretty poor.

Maybe it'll be more fun with real people, but right now I'd say it's worth exactly what I paid.

you'd only be able to see the picture of his "junk" if you added him as a friend... you can't post pictures with the camera as your main gamer pic, only your friends one.

DannyOB,

I would give you credit if it wasn't widely known that it was coming out today -- nevermind the fact I actually typed this up last night.

Keep sending us tips though, and you too could see your name inside some super spiffy brackets. Then your name will be all [adult swim]-like and cool.

I got the game and noticed the same problems as ED pointed out. For the sound part though, I just connect my ipod and listen to a playlist, I do that with Uno as well. The single player CPU is horrible. First hand 3 CPU went all in.

I'm a big fan. I hauled my zombie self out of bed at 2:55 AM CST this morning to download it, and I ended up playing for about an hour. This game will actually push me to get a Gold XBL membership (with the camera next month). I didn't find the card size too small (but I have a huge new DLP tv*). I also don't really miss the auto-action features found on poker sites. I have to say that my very favorite feature is actually the lack of a feature: I never have to worry about losing my mind and playing for real cash on XBLA. Whew!

I just played this for about 20 minutes before work and I really enjoyed it. It's a heck of a lot better than a lot of console and PC poker games I've payed money for.

The graphics and interface are pretty slick and the AI in single player seems pretty good. There was at least one really aggressive AI player in the game I played and the others called or folded accordingly.

You start with a persistant bankroll but there are several scenario games you can play as practice, without affecting your bank.

The sound effects are decent. You can hear the cards deal around you in surround sound, and audio cues for checks and raises. There's even a little nudge from the vibrating controller when its your turn. The honky tonk guitar music got annoying fast so I turned it off and streamed tunes from my PC.

The graphics are nice. The 3D chips appear on the table when you bet or call and then stack up in an ever increasing pile in the middle.

The interface and graphics are a lot better than most Online games, especially the JAVA ones. The hole cards are kinda small, but on an HDTV it wasn't a problem to see what I was holding. There's a variety of background table styles to choose from if you get bored with the plain green one.

It's a pretty damn good game of Hold 'em considering the price. I can't wait to go online after work. I think I've found a new addiction.

My only worry is the number of kids that will get hooked on poker by this free game and turn to live "for money" games on the internet.

My download of this game finished at 1:05am Pacific, and I played it for about an hour (single-player). I actually had some fun with it, at first I was doing stupid stuff and lost my $600 on a dumb all-in, but then I bought back in and won that back, plus $6 more...
It's great that this game was free, and hopefully I won't get killed online.

well, no poker for me, I just got the ring of death, and now my 360 just freezes when turned on. When are they going to recall these things. this is terrible. They put out a product and I support them, and I get shit on for it.

That's why you send it back to MS Shamma.. Why recall them when only a few out of all the ones out there have issues?

I agree with Ed (#4) about the presentation issues and the lack of acting before it's your turn. The game is too slow without that feature.

But I still think it's a great game, especially since it's free. It's MUCH better than the most crapalicious WPT 2K6 from 2K Sports (I fart in that game's general direction). I haven't tried Stacked, so I can't compare XBLA Texas Hold'em to it.

The single-player AI is a little weird. Looks like it plays way too aggressively with good hands and a little too loose with mediocore hands. But that's based on less than 50 hands, so I'm not completely sure about that. It felt like that when I was playing.

I have high expectations for the multiplayer gaming, especially among friends. My "poker crew" got all split up when people started moving around...a lot of the folks have an XBox 360. This game should be pretty awesome.

seeing the issues i definatly dont think it is worth 800 points however seeing its free for the first 48 hours from release its worth the download...
stop whining about the faults and be happy you were able to get it for free
if there should be anyone whining it should be those who waited too long to download it and ended up having to buy it for 800 points to get the full version

oh jacobk sorry there is no way to download it without having access to your 360
so unless you get your 360 back tomorrow you have no choice but to pay the 800 points to get it

its a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time type situation

Shamma, hurry and get to a friend's house with 360, log in to YOUR live account, and download it there. That way, when you get your 360 back, you can re-download it on your own account for free again.
I think that should work.

#16 I used to think that too, until it happened to me, all the people that have gotten 360's from the first batch are going to have this problem. M$ knows what the problem is and they are covering it up.

I am a little upset with the online multiplayer, anytime I set up a game online with friends, most of them cannot join. If/when they are able to join, shortly afterwards someone will always get dropped from the match then be unable to get back in. FIX THE DANG SERVERS!

Turned $2000 into $12000 in about 15 minutes on single player, pretty cool stuff. Awesome down-time game :)

Downloaded the game joined a quick match and screen froze with a checker board effect. Rebooted console now I have the ring of death. Played the Dead Rising demo right before this happened, hmm......coincidence? I purchased the service contract that’s good to 2008 so MS is fixing it free of charge but there is defiantly something wrong with the first run Xbox’s. But have no fear I auto recovered my gamertag and dusted off old faithful (original XBox) so I'll still be able to game online this weekend.
