Curious... am I the only one here who thinks portal is the best idea ever, and am ready to buy HL2 AGAIN just for it?

Kudos valve, kudos

Cool. There is something to be said about simple, yet ingénues ideas...

Now to think of what kinda soundtrack the game needs. I feel like it's gonna be mostly ambient.

or maybe something a little more punchy.

1.Portal is not new, HL is kopying Prey.
2.Good move MS. Fifa and Specially Pro Evo are big sports titles.

Oh, I know the idea origionally came from prey.

but less face it... prey made absolutely no use of the concept... just used it to freak us out a little.

Portal technology wasn't developed by 3D Worlds either. It's been around as long as BSP based gemometry has been around. But, before it was always used to create a seamless blend between BSP areas. Prey thought outside the box and made the portals into non-seamless transitions.
Portal is thinking further outside the box to make the portals into an integral part of the gameplay and the player's arsenal and movement abilities.
All games are copies of eachother. It's been that way since we first started kicking melons around and creating rules. Games evolve from other games. Who copied who is irrelevant.

Tom - Unless you're trying to copy GTA... in which case, you're just sad. :D
