Amidst all the noise about Call of Duty 3 -- sweet graphics, new player actions, yada, yada, yada -- and NBA 2K7 -- individual jump shot animations for every NBA player, blah, blah, blah -- we almost missed the biggest news in the latest episode of Gamertag Radio. That's right, Dan the Automator is producing the soundtrack for NBA 2K7. Appropriately titled, Dan the Automator presents: 2K7, you can be sure the soundtrack will be very nice. Most people would recognize Dan's work from the first Gorillaz album. And just in case super slick producers don't tickle your fancy like they do ours, the podcast contains some nice tidbits about both Call of Duty 3 and NBA 2K7. So, go check it out.

I'm sure the "soundtrack will very nice" indeed. Oh you's guys. Keep up the good work, and the bad grammar while you're at it; seriously, do it for us ;)

I tell you that Dan the Automator is doing 2K7 and all you can do is criticize a typo?

Any Dan Nakamura project is worthy of mention (I'm a big fan of the Handsome Boy Modelling School and the affiliated Lovage project).
However, I don't buy basketball games, so unless he releases it on CD, I won't be hearing it.

Lovage is the hotness, but I'm with J. Goodwin. I'd rather see Dan work on titles worth playing. Hell, I'd rather see Dan team up with Harmonix for Amplitude II. Now that would be sweet.

Deltron 3030 is the finest rap album ever made, and this is probably the coolest music related gaming anncouement I've ever heard. This is like NIN doing quake, except I think Dan'll do a decent job of it.
And lucky for us, the 2K series plays a better game of ball than its NBA Live couterpart. Saves me the trouble of having to buy the title for the music alone.
Gamespot has a funny interview w/ Dan about this.

Dan's "Do You Wanna Buy a Monkey" is one of the sickest Hip-hop/electronic mix CDs I have ever heard. If you like good hip-hop and phat beats in general then you should be sure to pick it up.

When Steve Nash drives to the hole and throws in a sweet layup, it's great. When he does it to some crappy hip-hop/rap music......lame.

Agreed. Dan's one of my all-time favorite people in the music business; I'm not a huge sports gamer, but the ocassional basketball game can be fun... this seals the deal for me.
@MMR, if you liked Wanna buy a monkey, you should check out his projects; that was basically a sampler of his stuff. Dr. Octagon, Deltron 3030, Loveage and Handsome Boy Modeling School are all excellent places to start.
