Elveon brings Unreal 3-powered fantasy

Turns out Legolas isn't the only elvish hero around. In the action-RPG Elveon, you'll play a mighty elven warrior charged with defending your realm from some angry gods. Probably not the most original plot, but Slovakian developer 10Tacle Studios is promising adaptive battle AI in the form of enemies who learn to defend and counterattack against your fighting style.
WorthPlaying has posted a bunch of new screens showing off the Unreal 3-powered graphics, and GameTrailers has a recent combat vid and this year's E3 trailer. Elveon is schedule to launch next summer for the PC and Xbox 360. Check out the game's official site for more details.

It looks so bland, everything is just a shade of brown.
Jason W @ Aug 25th 2006 4:04PM
Damn dude. Brown looks good. If this is a fighter then WOW. Bring it on.

Actually, Its not for the PS3 just so you are aware.
Look at the bottom of the page. Has a PC and XBox360 symbols, and then in the paragraph above that it states,"ELVEON ® for PC and Xbox 360 -"

"Welcome! The chief aim in combat is to hit your opponent."
Well gee, nice going there, Yoda.
Seriously, this guy went to the Schwarzenegger school of voice acting and got a refund. Its painful to listen to.

I am sick to death of companies that promise groundbreaking enemy AI when that AI always turns out to suck. Tell the truth: your enemies are going to rambo charge at me and go down one by one just like in every other game.

no PS3 logo on their homepage....

Yes, the voice acting was cheesy, but I think they kind of meant it to be. Regardless, graphics look great, combat looks dope. I'm excited.
My only beef - when the elf swings his sword, the after effects aren't smooth and circular. I noticed this same thing with the Too Human gameplay vids. Why is it so hard to make a smooth circle for this effect? If it's done improperly, it's almost be better to leave it out. Just my two cents.

From the list of cancelled ps3 titles:
"This RPG was announced for PC, 360, and PS3. The original press releases have since been removed from 10tacle Studios' website but the gamespot and IGN pages remain. Only the PC and 360 are mentioned on recent press material."
Alan, we all know that gamespot and IGN take pride in maintaining pages for cancelled games... I'd say if the developer has pulled the press releases that speak of a PS3 version though, that's a pretty good sign the PS3's been left out in the cold. ;)

You know what would be wild? They make the adaptive AI so good it knows how to effectively defend against people who cheat in God-mode.

Thanks for catching that, AoE!

I agree with Cody. Games have been promising groundbreaking dynamic AI that learn from you as far back as Goldeneye for N64. Probably before then.
I'll believe it when I see it, and I think it will be a few years before that happens.
Seriously, companies need to hire fulltime staff to play as NPCs. Imagine an MMORPG where NPCs actually were PCs, but only played by staff. They'd be smart, they could talk to you, they could move and go places and come back and go to sleep (when their shift ended or something). That's the way an MMORPG needs to be.
