New Turok 'propaganda'
Acclaim and the Turok franchise were once riding the wave. Heck, Gamespot called Turok 2 "a landmark shooter and a must-buy," rating the sequel a 9.0. Alas, both the company and the dino-hunter series fell on hard times. In fact, Acclaim, as we knew it, was dead, and Turok eventually became the property of Buena Vista Games, which decided to scrap the whole 'Western Indian Guardians of the Lost Land' mythology for a badass, albeit clichéd, former Black Ops commando who carries the 'Turok' name, if not the heritage.Propaganda Games, charged with developing the series' reincarnation, has prepared a fresh batch of images, which appear to look more like digitized concept art than actual screenshots. But if the final product shows that the studio has revived the Turok franchise with Unreal dinosaur hunting, we'll stop trippin' over today's propaganda.

Turok was the joint back then, then Turok 2 was released and it started going downhill. Hopefully these people can bring it back. Now if someone would only hook up the Biohazard games, that special ed control scheme was outdated when the original was released.

Ah, fond memories of Turok 2. Great shooter for the N64, especially with that funky controller. Only problem with Turok 2 was the save points were a little too far apart and the boss battles had too many creatures so it had some pretty bad slow down.
To me, any new gen shooter that has dinosaurs is good thing. Give me a game where the dinos look like they are from a J-Park movie. :) New engines, new hardware - it can be done! And it will make up (a little) for the loss of Lionhead's B.C. game.

I was ready up about it in the August issue of Game Informer, and it actually looks pretty sweet. The dinosaurs are in both single and multiplayer, so you could be trying to frag the other guy and get their flag when a raptor comes sweeping down and chews you down. Sweet!

Which system(s) is this thing slated for? Turok 1 (&2 sorta) were g-r-r-r-r-r-eat. Hopefully it comes out on 360.

From what I understand, Jake, this is going to be released on 360 and PS3.

Who walks the stairs without a care
It shoots so high in the sky.
Bounce up and down just like a clown.
Everyone knows its Turok.
The best present yet to give or get
The kids will all want to try.
The hit of the day when you are ready to play
Everyone knows it's Turok.
Its Turok, Its Turok
for fun the best of the toys
Its Turok, Its Turok
the favorite of girls and boys.
(I thought the screenshots did look awesome.)

I just hope it isn't rediculously stupid. A dinosaur would NOT be THAT HARD to kill with a high-powererd automatic weapon. They die, just as we do.

''The dinosaurs are in both single and multiplayer''
There were computer controlled raptors in the multiplayer part of Turok Evolution on the ps2,xbox and gc as well. And you could play as them in rage wars.
I have to say if they had kept this so it was Turok instead of Generic shooter guy clone #1000 I would be far happier. Hopefully it will turn out as a good game as I do love dinosaurs.

say WHAT!? Turok is based on an old comic book...Turok IS a Western Indian Guardian of the Lost Land...if they wanna change the whole character/background concept, they shouldn't bother calling it Turok...call it Splinter Cell: Dino Avenger or something...

This is looking to be a big dissapointment for me. I really enjoyed the first 2 Turok games, even Rage Wars. Evolution was OK too (Turok 3 totally sucked), but this one takes the game totally in a different direction. Alien planet and commandos...what does this have to do with Turok? You cant take a solid game franchise and keep just the name. Its not going to be the same. The best thing about the previous game was the mysteries that the Lost Land had in store as you progressed through the levels. No lost land, then this is no Turok.
And those screens look like paintings. I bet they are not from the actual game....
Jecrell @ Aug 25th 2006 5:30PM
The Prey sequal needs Dinosaurs, methinks.
Faar @ Aug 25th 2006 8:36PM
This is bullshit. If they're going to do the stupid ex-black ops crap, why bother with the turok name? Aren't indians cool enough or something? If they turn the lead character into some muscled white guy, I'm gonna hire some russian ex-murder cons to drag the game designers out back and plug their asses.
...Well, no, I won't. Well, except in my own mind.
Goddammit, can't they stop screwing with a great concept! If they'd just gone back to the original N64 roots they could have had an awesome game, why call it turok if it's not gonna be turok!
You wouldn't turn a game about say, Batman, into a guy wearing a ripped T-shirt, wielding a shotgun and a chainsaw instead of one hand now wouldja!
