GH2 actually has the Van Halen cover of the Kink's original You Really Got Me. It's a lot more rocking than the original, which is pretty tame in comparison.

For the record, Guitar Freaks is way better than Guitar Hero. And is not a rip-off of a previous guitar-based music game.

For the record, your opinion is worth nothing, and you have no idea what you're talking about.

And lets not even get into the conversation of video game ripoffs, because you don't own or like a single game that isn't one.

Yeah, because making a game with the same element is totally a screwed up thing to do... Like, you know, having pixels. Every game ripped off pong!

Doesn't matter who wins Guitar Hero, bassists will always be way cooler than guitarists.

#5 you can't be freaking serious, bass = no skill , any guitar player can pick up a bass and be good, but can bass players say the same about a guitar? i think not. unless its from Guitar Hero.

Tycho sure looks a lot tubbier and shinier in person. Why don't they draw themselves like that in their comics?

Hey Eric:

Depends on the music you're playing. When it comes to blues or jazz, it's pretty hard to have "no skill" when your main line of composition is "make it up as you go along."

Haha, so true, Bill.

In jazz, guitarists can just hit chord progressions. Bassists actually have to make up a walking line as they go along.

And the whole Tycho and Gabe not looking like their online counterparts thing is something that everyone doesn't really care about anymore. But I'll bite.

The characters were never meant to be charicatures of the creators, just two random guys who talked about gaming. Their names were Jack and John. Eventually things changed to the way they are now, probably for simplicity's sake.

Not every game ripped off Pong's pixels! What about Star Wars? Vector lines rock!

Yeah, I never understood why people thought they should look like their online counterparts. Did Charles Schulz look like Charlie Brown? Thought not.

dear Eric, Less Claypool and Jaco Pastorius are, and will always be, cooler than any guitarist you can name.

#6 I assume you play the guitar, then... Watching(read: listening to) my Girlfriend (or any talented bass-player) play the bass-line to a random Pastorius tune if fucking amazing! The speed and strength you neeed in your fingers is somethig a guitarist just can't compare to... Show me a guitar player that can strum strings 5 times as thick as normal guitar-strings for 30 min. straight, would you? Picking a double-base for even half that time is a whole 'nother story completely... I'll bet you she could crush an apple in her hand. ^^

Now, I'm not saying that guitar playing doesn't require skill in-and-of itself, but don't be dissin'on bassists, man!

And on the topic of Mike and Jerry not looking like Gabe and Tycho IRL; When was the last time you created a WoW,or any other game that let you customize your own looks, character to actually look like yourself?

#11, i don't listen to much classic rock (the most exposure i've had of it was Guitar Hero), I'm not totally clueless when it comes to classic rock though, so your "challenge" is kinda easy with a trillion guitarists out there. Lets see:

Jimmy Hendrix
Colin Meloy
Isaac Brock
andd Win Butler just for good measure

keep lobbing them up there, and the bassists will keep knocking them out of the park:

james jamerson.
lemmy.
john entwistle.
and jack casady, just for good measure.

oh, and "any guitar player can pick up a bass"? i don't think i've met a guitarist who can lift a bass, let alone one with any kind of rhythm sense

bass player for 6 years guitar player for 1, both for a metal band... bass is MUCH more difficult to play well. it all the knowledge of guitar and more strength and precision.

"any guitar player can pick up a bass and be good" NO! any guitar player can pick up a bass and be mediocre. playing a bass with a pick doesn not make you good. playing with your fingers is where the skill lies.

#6, you seem to have not that much of a clue of what playing a bass is all about, listen to Southbound Pachoderm by Primus and tell me that the guitarist from Fallout Boy or any of those other "great" bands could play it. Also speaking from the perspective of a drummer, playing bass is far more than just hitting some strings, you have to do it in time, something most guitarists need alot of help with

After the fist-pumping kid won the first round, I started watching the behavior of the contestants as they came on stage. Without exception the guys who acted like rock stars won. Psychology!

The exception was the mild face-warming round where neither contestant particularly rocked out. I can't remember which of them won either. Or what song they played. I think I ate a Pop Tart during their round.

Why didn't Black Lotus and the Minibosses guy do War Pigs on co-op? It's guitar and bass... it'd make sense...

VICTOR WOOTEN FTW! Show me a guitarist who can play anything half as well as Victor plays bass and I'll agree that guitarists are better than fish
