The latest in a trend to adorn gaming goods with Swarovski crystals comes from Japanese designer Tikko. For a mere 45,000 yen (about $380), you can protect your DS Lite's outer shell with a solid-crystal barrier. And it sparkles!For the record, real hardcore gamers don't splurge on crystals, we improvise, we shred jeans, saving money for what counts, the games.

James knows this, but the rest of you might not. The Nintendo store has had iced-out DS Phats for quite some time now. This is the first DS Lite I've seen done this way.

$380 is fairly cheap. Now I wouldn't actually buy that being that I do need to save for the games, but if I was making 6 figures (and maybe even 5) I'd think that would be a cool hook up. I know people that spend a lot more than that to make their cars look nicer but I'd rather spend that kinda money on something as cool as that. You get a PS3. I'd rather have two of those.

Nice - that's actually a copyrighted pattern by the company that originated the Swarovski crystalled phones, sidekicks & game systems, NYC Peach that that Japanese designer is using without permission. NYC Peach did all of the ones you see in the NYC Nintendo Store window, along with all of the celebrity PSP's you see iced out.

There are plenty of places in tokyo that will customize a cell phone. I'm sure they can do DS customs as well. Stuff like faux jewels, water droplets, etc.
