Far Cry Instincts Predator marks territory on XBLM
We never could figure out if the lukewarm reception of Ubisoft's Far Cry Instincts Predator on the Xbox 360 was because it was a quick and dirty port of an Xbox title with some graphical flourishes, or the rambling assembly of words they call a title. Far. Cry. Instincts. Predator. ?. Either way, we have a chance to reconsider our initial revulsion by downloading the 345MB demo the Xbox Live keepers have thrown in our cage. Like a wild animal -- with the default inventory of wild animal skills -- we'll lunge at the demo and pin it to the ground in one fluid cat-like motion, before plunging our incisors into its single map and rending all five included gametypes from its mutiplayer skeleton. It goes without saying that we do this instinctually. Predatorily. While crying.

Nice take-down and all... but is it any good? Is it worth the free download?
Damn this thing called work, keeping me from playing games all day long.

Not worth it. You're better off picking up the original Far Cry for PC from the bargain bin. Better game, better graphics. The fun thing from Far Cry was the crafty AI that would outflank you, but in FCIP, they dumbed down the ai to typical dumb "run out and shoot" baddies.

Another goddamn multiplayer demo? Not to mention that the multiplayer is by far the worst part of the game? Ugh....

The demo is worth a quick play but you can defenitely see that this was a quick port. NOt worth buying.

Multiplayer isn't that bad. Not amazing but not horrible. It has a sweet mapmaker as well.
The only big problem I had with this game was that it forced you to play through the original FarCry Instincts before you could play the 'Predator' portion. LAME!

Game was 30$ at Circuit City a week or so ago, I picked it up, not worth more than $30, to me.
It went back up to 40$ at CC, not sure what it is right now.

If you've played it on Xbox - pass on it. The Evolution campaign (which they added when it got ported) isn't worth the price of admission.
If you've only played Farcry on the PC - get it. It's got 2 new campaigns, new play style, and feral abilities - rock on, literally. And this is coming from a die-heard PC FPS gamer. I've never had more fun with a FPS on a console using a controller. Crazy isn't that?
If you've never played Farcry and own a 360 - run, don't walk to your local gameshop and pick it up. It's easily one of the best FPS on the console to date.

Bought this for 34 euro's on Play-asia. Terribly good game for this price. I never played the xbox and the pc version only briefly. I noticed it had far better pacing than the pc-version, and it looked great on my hdtv. Of course it could have looked better, but what the hell: it's solid game and that's all that matters.

I've got to agree with the last two posters. I had heard good things about the PC version, but never played it. I passed over the xbox version when it came out, and purchasing the game for 360 happened completely on a whim. That being said, it's a very enjoyable game, especially the multiplayer, and it's got a suprisingly nice mapmaking tool on top of it (and custom maps can be used online!!)

I own it. The 1 player mode get boring after you play through it once. Multiplayer is really fun and the map maker alows for such great detail. I made 4 great maps that everyone seems to love playing. I like playing on my maps too because I spend weeks making them, so they look professional and not like a pile of crap that other will release.
Unfortunetly, I no longer play farcry anymore. In fact, I only played it for about 2 months. There are 3 things terribly wrong with the game that keep me from ever playing it again (unless they are patched of course)
1. LAG. even with the best connections, 10+ players lags. Not only that, but voice lags too, so you cant really talk to anyone properly if its lagging. This is the number 1 issues that keeps most people from likeing this. Impossible to get 16 players going lag free.
2. No map rating system. We need a map rating system so I can avoid joining all the bad maps. I litteraly have to spend an hour and join 20 horrible/terrible maps untill I find a half decent one. I wish we could rate each others maps then I could join games with 10+ votes that have good map ratings
3. You cant change the game mode unless you quit the party. This is really lame because Its hard to get games on some modes and it would be cool if I could play a map I made and rotate to different game modes each round. In farcry xbox you could do it, but then the 360 version they took it away for some reason.
If they can patch those 3 things, this game would be a must buy for everyone. Unfortunetly, It seems ubisoft thinks making a demo is more important then releasing a patch.

WHat are you posters on? This game is terrible. I bought it from play-asia really cheap hoping it was good. WRONG! I don't recomend anyone buy this before playing the demo, even then I doubt the demo is presented in such a way to show the true colors of the game.
I loved FarCry on PC when it come out a couple of years ago, I had a ball. It looked schmick, played intense and really felt good hiding in the jungles sniping bad dudes. This version claims to up the ante with mutant powers ect.. but it just comes off as a cheap expansion packs that is not worth anyones time.
Don't expect any sort of quick release enjoying Jack's new skills either. The whole start is just a poor rehash of the original game.
Go play Prey, Texas Hold'em Poker, Dead Rising, Tomb Raider, Saints Row, anything else really.

...worst FPS on 360, hands down.
