PSP GPS and camera priced and dated (in Japan)

Both were originally announced back in March during the Sony press conference that was supposed to finally set the PS3 launch date record straight. While the official website declared "Spring 2007," Sony ultimately conceded the system would not be ready until this November. They did, however, announce the camera and GPS peripherals would see a September release and, it turns out, they were pretty close.
Check out some pics of the peripherals and their carrying cases after the break.

"If you want to live...come with me..."
Someone watched one to many terminator movies to make this design for the camera...wow
Just wish it will be good as the Xbox Live Vision Camera.
But we all know how that is with sony...haha

Here we go again... flamewar starting in 3,2,1...
Can't say it's the worst idea ever. If it's implemented better than Gameboy Camera I say its worth consideration at 50 or so bucks.
GPS on the other hand I could live without. I know where I am right now.
slybri @ Aug 31st 2006 5:37PM
From all these peripherals and translator and travel guide software I'm starting to get the impression that the PSP was designed for one demographic: japanese tourists.

"From all these peripherals and translator and travel guide software I'm starting to get the impression that the PSP was designed for one demographic: japanese tourists."
THAT was funny.
Psaakyrn @ Aug 31st 2006 6:31PM
Wait... they're seperate? BAD design, and I don't think I need to explain why.
GSI @ Aug 31st 2006 6:00PM
At least the prices of each item are pretty reasonable.
Although this is more proof that Sony seems to be pulling the PSP away from gaming more and more.
saboola @ Aug 31st 2006 5:56PM
cool more awesome new hames for the psp. Errrrr.... nevermind
Xorphite @ Aug 31st 2006 5:52PM
Glad they finally got that pesky gaming feature out of the way.
What'sDuhMattuhWitYouhEyes? @ Aug 31st 2006 5:54PM
Not to be picky Derek but it's "Come with me if you want to live." I'm one of those that "watched one too many terminator movies". ;)
Aex @ Aug 31st 2006 5:54PM
I'm a little disappointed the camera will only be 1.5megapixel. Whats the point.
I'm excited about the GPS tho, hopefully it comes packaged with software :)
ldd @ Aug 31st 2006 5:58PM
wow
just one comment on how the games on the psp 'suck'
we are getting there jostiq, there is hope for human beings!!
...
but seriously... the flamming will come, sooner or later...(xD)

I am definatly not a PSP hater, just a frustrated owner at the lack of support. But these add-ons are ugly as hell, they look like they are third-party made and the third party had no idea what the PSP looked like! The GPS thing looks like it will risk snaping off if you try to take it anywhere useful, like a car.
These make me sad, but at least Vice City Stories and Lumines 2 make me happy.
Xorphite @ Aug 31st 2006 6:07PM
"just one comment on how the games on the psp 'suck'"
Just clarifying in case you were referring to me: I don't think the PSP's games are bad at all. I just find these countless features and add-ons useless.

Sticking out accessory + thumbscrew = IDIOT IDIOT IDIOT

-->"I am definatly not a PSP hater, just a frustrated owner at the lack of support."
That is EXACTLY why I sold my PSP.
Hammer @ Aug 31st 2006 6:54PM
How long unbtil Nintendo releases the DS Camera now? It's about time they updated the GameBoy Camera concenpt.
Aaron @ Aug 31st 2006 7:10PM
Wow... Next thing ya know someone will develop a game worth playing.
elShaggy @ Aug 31st 2006 7:17PM
The GPS unit looks atrocious. Really.
tactics @ Aug 31st 2006 7:34PM
they really should've just combined the two into one peripheral... it'd make a lot more sense...
but when do gaming companies make sense with what they do anymore, right?
-"superfan" tactics.
ModusOperandi @ Aug 31st 2006 7:39PM
Does anyone know whether the camera will swivel a full 180 degrees so that you can take pictures of more than just your face?
Patrick @ Aug 31st 2006 7:46PM
They probably give an indication what design the new PSP Slim will follow.

The GPS sounds like a cool concept but I can't really see it working all that well without a touch screen to make it easy to use. Oh well, traded in my PSP today with some games for a DS lite and the New Super Mario Bros and all I can say, is I've got more fun out of the first 3 worlds in Mario than I did out of every game I ever played on PSP. The PSP wasn't necessarily bad, it just wasn't made with on-the-go in mind I guess. All the DS games seem to have the right idea, short levels, fun gameplay, good for playing a little bit here and there, while PSP tried to make full blown console games on a handheld. Which ended up with difficult controls and games that lacked depth in the end.
Bob @ Sep 1st 2006 5:22AM
Thats not utilitarian functionalism, thats just fugly
EP @ Sep 1st 2006 6:01PM
I guess the PSP is all you need, if you're not into gaming.
Skyler @ Sep 23rd 2006 2:30AM
The PSP camera looks like it will rotate 180 degrees. The little knob... not the thumbscrew... seems to be there so you can turn it the other way.
At least that means you'll be able to take pictures? I don't understand why you'd need to flip it if it was just an eyetoy.
I'd get it if it took pictures. Sony is insanely stupid if they're just making it an eyetoy. After all, the PS2 eyetoy games... well, suck.
And the last thing they need to do right now is try and make better games requiring you to buy additional things like a camera or gps. How bout they try and make innovative gameplay with the thing we all spent 250 dollars on, without us having to spend 50 or 100 more.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brad Lee @ Sep 3rd 2006 7:02PM
I want to know why the attachments are both silver when the only available colors for the PSP are white and black.
Is it too much to ask to at least coordinate color schemes?
Jason Anderson @ Sep 3rd 2006 7:36PM
1.3MP?
Screw that.
How much will the GPS subscription cost though? I've always wanted GPS.
neeo @ Sep 9th 2006 6:27AM
To me it looks that camera lense is pointing at the same direction where the screen is.
How is this gona work??
choowie @ Oct 20th 2006 4:08AM
i dont thing it will do a 180 cuz the usb plug only goes in 1 way but it looks like n i hope (i have been askin around) that it can flip type thing like on camcorders the screen can swivel to face the other way n it flips the screen view
