Dave wrote us to show off his homemade DS Lite case, assembled with $1 worth of fabric, a rustic buckle, some matching thread, and a Ziploc bag (waterproof inner lining). But Dave can't take all the credit ... his girlfriend provided the sewing skills.Dave's work is the latest in a series of creative storage options that we've featured on Joystiq. From worn jeans, to the PSP sleeve, to an old sock, gamers are finding all kinds of ways to protect their Lites -- excluding, of course, throwing down for an often ugly, usually oversized, and almost always overpriced case sold at retailers. So how do you choose to protect your handhelds?

I just use a lovley black Ipod sock sort of thing to go with my lovely black DS Lite. (Ps: i think White Ds's look rubish) GO BLACK!!!!

Have to admit, I "threw down" and got the standard issue Nintendo case, but I did cut out the stupid plastic inner harness that allows you to play in in the case. So, I just keep it in the original bag it came in, in the nice little zipper case...which, since it's black will be a nice home for my second DS Lite that I will get. ;)

I made mine out of batman fabric for the outside, and yellow furry fabric on the inside, and I hand sewed it myself. I'll send the pictures, it's much hotter than this one!

Thats pretty cool and I will definitly build it, but i'm gonna add a pocket or two in the front for tic-tac cases (they each hold 3 ds games. Go figure).
