Sadly, it's going to be on a PvP server. So they're screwed.

Also, I'd be surprised if any of the target market for WoW are really going to be into frolicking in the waves.

Of course it is going to be crashed...it's the freakin' internet.

People think they have the right to act like complete dicks b/c their true identities are hidden...it's basically a message board using a 3D engine.

Host this on a PvE server. Problem solved.

I wonder though...my level 60 hunter has had a crocolisk pet named Crikey for the longest time. Wonder if I'll catch flak for it now.

oh dear....didn't they learn from the LAST time someone tried to hold a funeral?

A game is just not the proper place for this sort of thing IMHO.

"and then we can dance and swim in the ocean to celebrate his life"

Did anyone else crack up on reading that line? It seems that this person has forgotten that he is manipulating a 3d image. He could easily be talking about a toy which he would have dance around, in memory of someone who died.

Ok, so some people are more upset with his death than others. Personally I don't understand when people cry because someone they didn't know or have ever met died. But each to their own.

"... and then we can dance and swim in the ocean to celebrate his life instead of mourning his death."

Ok, this is just asking for trouble.

First, that comment is asking for ridicule from the less tolorent (makes me want to poke fun and I like to think im some what tolorent).

Second, remeber the funeral for the WOW player that died of a heart attack?.

Third, PVP server.

And lastly, its just been broadcast all over the internet.

Can we expect videos on youtube the day after?

Their going to get eaten alive.

One final point, to the people who claim that they (the funeral attendees) should be allowed to hold this without harrasment, well there are lots of more appropriate places to hold these kinds of things and its not like the organisers dont know they are going to be harrased.

Turning a game into a funeral is just about as appropriate as turning a funeral into a game.

I support memorials, but having one in an in-game world such as WoW makes no sense. People play to escape, not to mourn.

Could you imagine telling anyone you know that "No sorry I can't go to the bar tonight, my lvl 34 high elf is having a service for the crocodile hunter."

It all reminds me of that movie "Blue Velvet" Meaning that we all walk around in our day to day activities thinking everyone else is pretty normal like us. But man, there's just a scary scary underbelly out there with people who are de-tached.

Rest in peace, Steve Irwin. Let's hope your WoW funeral doesn't get crashed, or if it does, let's hope that the crashers get eaten by crocodiles.

I think it's a setup, and this dude calling the memorial service is actually the inside man. He's somewhere right now, rubbing his pasty hands together in the pale glow of his monitor, cackling in fervent anticipation of the havoc he is planning to wreak at Croc Hunter's online funeral.

Now I didn't know, Steve Irwin personally, but when I read that he died, I gave him a thought. Or two, maybe: "Wow, that's too bad, the poor wife and kid." and "I'm surprised he made it this long." For as well as I knew him, those thoughts seem sufficient.

So by all means, destroy the funeral, let anarchy and lawlessness reign— whatever. The Croc Hunter doesn't mind.

no disrespect to Steve, but I'm with OTAM. That last video was the best send up of nerdy MMO-types I've ever encountered, and I can't wait to see more like it!

Has anyone pointed out that a larger percentage of Australians don't like Steve Irwin and consider him to be pompous and simply an all around jerk? His death was certainly tragic, but these people are mourning what amounts to a *fictional character* -- what they perceived him to be based on a 60 minute clip show, not who he really was.
