After 170+ comments, here's what my guess is...

It could be Sony related, what with all of the bad press they have gotten this past week, it would be a smart move on their part to attempt to change that. Hey, they did remodel the controller after all the terrible feedback they got from that.

But, in a more exciting guess, I would think it is something Nintendo Wii related. It would be amazing if they annouced a price and release date tonight. The price is obviously going to be easy on the bank account and the release date will be next week.

The only problem I see with this is the Nintendo Keynote would be kind of pointless because they realisticly COULD NOT pull a Steve Jobs and say "buy your Wii right now" in the middle of a keynote. This wouldn't be possible for a video game company because many different retailers would have to coordinate the release in the middle of the day during Nintendos Keynote, rather than on a release date at 12:01am. Apple can do this since they own their own stores.

Either way, it's most likely Nintendo related, or good news for Sony since Joystiq is happy about it.

I'll just say some people already suggested something along those lines. Also, I read the article on a French website dedicated to one platform, in case that helps. Actually, it's not such a huge deal so I doubt that's it.

Let me just say this. If the announcement is anything to do with a specific title being released. I will be very dissatistfied with this being labeled as "Major next-gen news", it needs to have something to do with the actual consoles or console features.

Silly bloggers, the Wii is being released 2 weeks after TGS. It'll be priced at US$199.95 and it will have zero expected delays in makings it's global launch.

For instance. Microsoft is not Sony. Your not told your buying a super computer and that the system will last 10 years every time they release a system. So there for, I will judge Joystick, based on the people at Joystick, not based on the people at IGN, or Gamestop! Beside you have to admit it is fun. And I’m glad they told me ahead of time
or I would not have known until tomorrow since I already did my regular joystick reading.

The idea of a 360 demo for a high profile game is nice, but I wouldn't expect that tonight. The PS3 has put too much faith into its US and Japan launch position to pull a Europe on a global scale.
