First thing I noticed on MSG4 was a low texture (what’s up with that?) and it’s still not True real-time! It was made to look like real-time going to the length of putting a low-medium grade texture on it. Now they are saying they would like the final product to look as good as that (sound familiar ).

All GPU’s are made by PC GPU designers ATI and Nvidia (Microsoft dumped them for technical reasons,bus cough). And oh yeah buried in the news was a bus speed downgrade. I don’t see the xbox having trouble with MGS4. I do see a problem with PS3 doing gears of war with high textures.

Dont forget that Nintendo already dominated the handheld market so it had a huge loyal fan base before it even began.

When it comes to consoles whatever way you look at it the Gamecube struggled badly and all those people who opted for PS2's or Xbox's are likely to stick with what they know.

We know PS3 will have better graphics because PS3 does have better hardware. And guess what generates graphics, smartone? Hardware.

Ummm.. Sony has a track record with describing thier hardware as military Grade A+ shit and delivering only average grade stuff. Sony is late on delivery, They have even admitted they cant even equal 360s intial shipments, IT IS Going to have a external power brick, ITS NOT going to have 2 hdmi ports, it is copying Nintendo's motion sensory, some of thier 'exclusives' are not exclusive anymore, Blueray disks are more expensive then dvd disks, It is the most expensive system on the market 150% of the price of the 360 (we are not even going to discuss the 'cheaper' models). They are shunning the European market and only making a token appearance in thier native country on the launch date. and the biggest whooper of them all.. THEY HAVENT EVEN STARTED PRODUCTION YET AND HAVING TROUBLE WITH COMPONENTS!

I'm curious why the token Sony optimist of the video expects a superior online presence from Sony. Microsoft got off to an incredible start with Live! on the original Xbox, and has only improved the service. Sony, on the other hand, has little experience aside from their half-assed (and unimaginatively named) Play Online service. Consiering the fact that their whole strategy for the generation is to half-heartedly copy the competition, do you suddenly expect them to trump Microsoft Games' crown jewel? I don't.

I find it annoying that every time there is a story like this they never mention Nintendo as a competitor. They say that it is between Sony and Microsoft. With all that we have seen of the Wii and the good feedback for it you would think that it was on the radar at least.

Obviously Nintendo realized they could not teach this to the average Sony whore. Partially because they did not want to believe. Even AMD had a hard time educating people from being fooled by Intel, and had to rename the chips according to how fast a cpu equivalent chip from Intel. Example Amd would name a 3000+ mp AMD(running at 1800ghz) was at least as fast as a 3,000hz Intel.
Well guess what? This is what your going to get with the WII think of it as power versus speed (all have some of both but not same ratio). The wii will kick some serious you know what!
I think Wii will easily win in Japan, and Korea. And xbox will win in Europe Canada.

The shortage of 360s did not end until June that’s 7 and a half months of shortages and Microsoft also was experienced (and so was the two vendors at the time, now it is four vendors). This means Sony can’t get past the shortages fast enough to catch up soon! Mean while Developers and vendors that where burnt and have to explain this to the share holders. Will have to make a decision wait on Fony? Or jump on the winning wagon? Would you do it again, as a responsible CEO? I think you’d hedge the PS3 and long the 360.

A console war is not a game of football or soccer. The game does not start when Sony decides it does (though they may think otherwise according to some of their taglines). The 360 and the PS3 have been competing for a long time, long before either system was even in production. If you cannot see that, then you are missing some of the most important parts of a console war.

To continue the "game" analogy, microsoft essentially has an open goal right now. They are being allowed to gain as much of a preemptive lead as they like and now they have another few months to do so (including an entire holiday/christmas shopping season!)

This is not to say that Sony can't get in the game late and still pull ahead. In this industry, that is very possible, but their PR and marketing cannot ride to glory on big talk and name-recognition alone.

The hardware will eventually speak for itself but, frankly, the average consumer is often not well informed on most of their purchases (read: often quite stupid). Heck, listen to the last two teenagers who were interviewed. They both blather on vaguely about graphics and online play and make it, for the most part, obvious that they are just regurgitating what MS and Sony want them to (regardless of what the relative strengths of the two companies' consoles are) The first of the two states his ideas about the PS3's graphics and online play as if they are pure fact. In a way, what you say to your consumers (ie, how you cram propoganda into their heads) and how efficiently you can get your product to them is often more important than the strength of the product itself.

Regardless of Sony's apparent strengths, its weaknesses are the parts that are currently showing, and, now, likely will be for 4 additional months. Like the Giant Enemy Crab, Sony is very powerful and has lots of metaphorical armor and claws, (sorry for the tired reference) but, right now, they have managed to flip themselves onto their back and show their weak spot. When that happens, everyone (MS, Nintendo, mainstream media sources, fanboys, gamers with a sense of humor, etc) is going to hit them for MASSIVE DAMAGE (again, apologies for the reference, it had to be done).

I think its more to do with the big hole Sony appears to be digging itself into. If Sony wants good press they have to earn it by offering us something that is not a load of bollocks i.e. a 'real' ps3 that does all the bull they say it can do.

Media always plays out information worse than it really seems. But facts are facts and Sony has consistantly delivered poor info that has led to delays and upset fans.

The PS3 will do good but not nearly as good as it has in the past. And SnakeDanteCloud_HolyTrinity your quote stating, "Wii isnt really next gen, but at least it has a new controller so theres something new." Having said that it's obvious you know dick about games and have a narrow minded view on games.

The Xbox was the most powerful system, the next powerful system (specs wise) was the GC. Who won the war? PS2 did. PSP is the more powerful handheld. The next powerful handheld is the DS. Which one is winnning? Thank you the DS. The PS3 is the most powerful, with 360 coming in at a strong second. And Wii at third.

The Wii is the only sysytem is offering a different next gen experience. The other systems are offering the same experience in a prettier picture. It's never about how powerful your system is, it's about gameplay and innovation. Thats why we all play games. The Wii has a good chance to stand tall in this gen's war.

That is not to take away anything from Sony and MS. Which are quality systems.

If all current arcades had controllers and joysticks we wouldn't play them at all. It's the innovation and interaction that atracts us. Not the graphics. Get a clue Fony fanboy.
