I'm just wondering, why don't we get to see American sales numbers or anywhere else as much as Japan? The way these get posted every week it seems like Japan is this amazing country that will make or break your system.

::sigh:: We get this question every week OTAM. The reason is simple. Media Create in Japan releases sales numbers every week. NPD in the US releases sales numbers every month. I'm not sure what entity handles sales in Europe, but we're lucky if we get monthly sales numbers, sometimes we have to wait 2 or 3 months at a time before we get anything.

Also, it's nice to know what people in Japan are buying, they have interesting tastes, and that's how we find out about things like Ouendan & Katamari so we can harass publishers until they release them in the US.

It also gives us Nintendo enthusiasts (or fanboys) a chance to lord it over everyone else with the power of the DS.

The bigger confirmation is that Robert Summa is indeed the laughing stock of the joystiq blog team.

That's where me and you differ in thinking.

I don't get it. What is this unkown system? Is this what that super double secret post was about at 12:01am? Did the Wii lanuch? Does the PS3 now cook me breakfast? Or are Xbox 360 not getting the red rings of death anymore? It must have been HUGE news! Someone fill me in!

PS Summa smokes poll.

I hardly belive that the Xbox1 sold 0 units, at least 1 person had to buy it. How can these numbers be so accurate, do retailers report every game machine sold. I guarentee that mom and pop places sell tons of game machines that don't get recorded here. So I think that these numbers have to be taken with a grain of salt.

[[28. man! roughly a quarter million units in a week! as far as im concerned, Ninty has already won the videogame system wars with the DS Lite! no way can any other game system, handheld or home, match up to the sales of the DSL...

Hmmm...
Looks like my little saying it taking off.

Keep it up guys.
I did it all for you.

"WiiDS"
http://www.n-philes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29318

I was especially inspired when I came up with
"WiiDS and the $Greenhouse$ Effect"
"The Horde-iculture of WiiDS"
"WiiDS running wild in the Garden" (for NY residents)
"WiiDS just say no to PSticides"
"WiiDS: Globally Herbal"
"The NEW Tetras: Only on WiiDS"

And especially
"WiiDS: Yes, Clinton inhaled"

Oh & can't forget
"DiSrUpTiNg the ecosystem with WiiDS"

You know...it's time I started a homebase blog instead of only posting on message boards.
I gotta have a place to document all these ideas!

Thanks again poster from message #28.
I'm honored. :-)

Alright so we know the Lite is cool in Japan...but wtf are they playing? Brain Age all day long? I've got like Mario Kart, Advance Wars, Metroid, and NSMB.....but I don't see myself telling all of my friends they'd better by a Lite or else? What are these Japanese kids playing/smoking?

"What are they playing on DS in Japan?"

Well, besides both the DS Training games and New SMB, which are huge sellers and move a lot of DS units, Cooking Navi and Tetris sold really well, and Mario Basketball and Star Fox have been out for a few weeks, plus they have the Bit Generations games and Rhythm Tengoku for the GBA. I loved living in Japan, the DS was the only system I needed.

Umm...they've already said it would launch before the PS3 if I am not mistaken.
