Nice find. Although the piece doesn't shed any new light really, it's nice to have a solid place to go to that has all information on the game. I played Twilight Princess on both GameCube in 2005 and Wii in 2006; it's going to be the first Zelda game, actually any game ever), that I buy twice. What a masterpiece we're getting in about 2 months.

Wasn't there something that came out a little while ago that said the sword would be controled by swinging the wiiMote? I thought i read somewhere that miyamoto changed his mind or something
El Hajjish @ Sep 8th 2006 1:16PM
It has been confirmed that you'll be swinging the Wiimote to swing your sword. Whether or not it is 1:1, I don't know.

serbz,
"pswii"? are you joking?
ZildjianKX @ Sep 8th 2006 1:54PM
My main question, are the GC and Wii versions graphically the same? Do both versions run in 480p? Is the Wii's 480p widescreen higher resolution than the Gamecube's 4:3 480p?
-Dom @ Sep 8th 2006 1:57PM
The Gamecube can only run 480p with the digital output and the component cable.

I feel a pertinent question was left out:
'Will Link ever fight Nazis?'

This FAQ is terrible, there are numerous errors and assumptions are made about various elements of the game that have not been officially confirmed or denied. For example; the assumption that the Zelda in this game is not the one from Ocarina of time.
There is also obvious flaws such as
” 43. Does the Wiimote allow free range of motion with swordplay?
The Wii version does NOT allow you free range of motion with swordplay (a.k.a. swinging the Wiimote to swing your sword), but there are some “shortcuts” that the Wiimote allows. ”
sigh

53. Does Link finally recieve a reach-around from princess Zelda in TP?
A. Nothing official as of yet, but it is to be believed that either Midna or an unkown town maiden helps link in his reach-around journey.

"The Z1 shoulder button on the analog attachment is for locking-on and centering the camera. The Z2 trigger button sends Link into first-person view manually."
The buttons on the NUNCHUK are called C and Z, C being a small round button and Z being a shoulder button ala GameCube shoulders.
"43. Does the Wiimote allow free range of motion with swordplay?
The Wii version does NOT allow you free range of motion with swordplay (a.k.a. swinging the Wiimote to swing your sword), but there are some "shortcuts" that the Wiimote allows."
Old. The game now allows an OPTION (read: not required) that gives the player freestyle control.
Otherwise this is an ok read. I skimmed through the characters because I'd prefer to learn about them as I play, considering I've been waiting for this game for a good two years now. It'll definitely be the first game I play on the Wii.

One question that I've been trying to find an answer to is whether you can play the Wii version with a gamecube controller instead of with the Wii-mote. Anyone know?
csc @ Sep 8th 2006 5:47PM
@16
i read that somewhere.....No you cant, i was wondering too, it would be a nice backup and make the question ofdifferences redundant when both styls are on offer, the GC control as a backup to those who dont like the wiimote. sadly its not the case.
vidGuy @ Sep 8th 2006 6:13PM
You can only use the controller for which the version of the game you purchase was designed (GC disc = GC controller, Wii disc = Wii controller).
While it's not very consumer-friendly, there are a lot of menus and mechanics that have been changed for the Wii versions. If the Wii version was going to allow you to use the GC controller, there would likely have to be a complete duplicate of the game on the disc.
TheDave @ Sep 8th 2006 6:23PM
@16- Nintendo has officially stated that you won't be able to use the GC controller for the Wii version of Zelda. However, if you wanted, you run the GC version on the Wii and it will use the GC controller but you will lose all the Wii benefits.
This FAQ is not the best in the world, it's getting most of it's info from past E3s. Most of this information has either been changed by Nintendo or is just pure speculation by the author. However, it does give out some alright character bios.

I don't want to hype and be disappointed, but considering that OoT is my favorite game ever and this seems to be defintely outdoing it in every aspect.... well I think you get the picture ;)
I'm clearing out all my games before this comes out, I don't want anything left undone that I'd be tempted to go back and finish, I want to be playing Zelda for months to come afterwards, seriously. I'm going to be as dedicated as possible to this game.... I'm seriously hoping FF12 comes out a long time before it does!
matjet @ Sep 8th 2006 10:39PM
its not "pswii".
its "wiips

"The game now allows an OPTION (read: not required) that gives the player freestyle control [of the sword]."
Link is left-handed, but the wiimote resides in your right hand. Think it'll make any difference? I've not heard anyone mention it...

This FAQ is full of inacuracies and false information. The Hylia released a better FAQ that has the correct info in it.

@kip,
That is a potential problem. While it has been confirmed that the remote can be used in either hand, there may be difficulties controlling the sword if the remote and Link's sword don't match up.
The potential solution? Allow gamers to configure the hand Link uses for swordplay. A simple "left-handed or right-handed" switch in the configuration options, and Link switches hands. Storywise, this ambidextrous-ness is easy to write off: it's a different Link, just like most of the other Legend of Zelda games!
phlash @ Sep 10th 2006 9:11PM
wait, how is the wiimote geared for right handed people?
