Granted Resistance may not be a Halo killer either, but then there's plenty of FPS i have played that are better than halo 1 and 2, they're just not as fun CoOp heh heh.

But still lets wait till GoW drops before we start proclaiming it the best game ever. It still has the potential to be a flop or a huge dissapointment I doubtr it, but its still there.

This is actually bad news. Now that it been called a Halo Killer all the Xbox fan boys will be up in arms. Halo multiplayer was pretty great though. I believe in equal opportunity gaming if it is fun then that is were I am at.

Ummm JJ I guess we can say the same thing about "Resistance" Lets wait until it comes out before we call it a Halo killer....

Who cares about Halo. It wasnt even that good a game and Halo 2 dropped the ball big time. RESISTANCE looks great and I'm happy its getting good press. But quit comparing it to Halo. Halo uses a tired Scifi theme with plastic wet graphics where RESISTANCE is apart of a new subgenre for FPS (Fantasy WWII). Killzone started it by making a gritty WWII esque game with fictional elements. RESISTANCE picks up from there and adds in aliens and some horror as well.

For me Halo 3 wont be anything compared to Gears of War.

For a website called PS3 Fanboy it sure does have alot of Xbots on it.

did anyone actually watch the video. 1up did the halo killer thing as a joke on halo fanboys (myself included in that group) and game journalism.

All in all the game looks good, and the 1up guys seem to make a point of saying "its the best game in the PS3 LAUNCH lineup". Not a halo killer or even the best PS3 game, but the best game in the ps3 launch. However, they also said that this game seems better than the best 360 launch fps COD2. Visually I have to agree with them, but when it comes to A.I. I have to disagree. the A.I. seems to lack ummm...whats the word im looking for... intelligence. In the video, the main character walks up behind a group of the creatures and shoots one. the creature that got shot turned around, leaped on the hero and started biting and clawing at guys face. the rest of the creatures just stood there with their backs turned to the action as their buddy participated in a very loud violent struggle. after the creature died, the guy move on to the next creature, who responded the exact same way as the first one.

All in all it looks good, but i think i'll take the same stance on this game that I took on saints row. Lets wait for the next GTA or Halo before we crown a new killer.

Someon please tell me exactly why I should be excited by this game? While it is pretty (if not somewhat bland looking), every movie I see shows the same type of enemy with the same type of gun using the same tactic over and over. There seems to be very little taking of cover, and the aliens just seem to walk towards you while shooting. And in all honesty, the new weapons aren't all that new sounding. Aside from the 5th element gun, I think I've seen every gun mentioned before. The dev's are even dressing up the grenades. They talk about how it shoots 50 spikes in all direction....that's just a glorified frag grenade. It just looks different.

There's no such thing as a Halo killer. It is the pinnacle of the console FPS. As long as PS3 has close together thumbsticks that are not off axis and are too "loose" then no FPS on the PS3 will take off like Halo has. Besides, the only point the 1up guys are making is that the Sony fanboys finally seem to have their "halo", meaning they finally have a decent FPS with big multi-player matches. That's all. If I were Sony or Isnomniac I wouldn't want Halo mentioned in the same breath of my product so that comparisons don't ensue. Plus, 1up certainly has changed their tune from Resistance being the COD2 of the PS3 launch. Interesting. Where's Luke with some of his PR "outing" when we need it?

And this is not Sony playing catch-up, the game is made by Insomniac not SCEI. Nobody is playing catch-up with anyone, they're just different games. Get over it.

Halo (1 & 2) are not all-that and they never were, but they certainly stood out as XBox's one-trick pony.

Most "360 Fanboys" are gamers. I would buy a PS3 if there was a single game that excited me. Let's be real here. You can't label a game as a Halo killer until it's been played as much as Halo. Half of Halos success is XBOX Live, and you won't be getting that on PS3 for a VERY long time if ever...

Im a 360fanboy because its my console of choice, not because it's the only console I buy. I come to this site to read about the ps3 and see what games it has to offer. When the price drops, I'll be sure to pick one up and enjoy metal gear 4, and the naughty dog project. right now those are the only games coming to the ps3 that I want to play. the reason I know about those game is because i keep up with the ps3 360 and wii. so yes I will continue to read this site and any other that can give me new info on the ps3.

I'd just like to point out that there really isn't an original IP out there. Though the game has interesting plot, it has been done. Though I cannot think of a game with a similiar plot, Harry Turtledove's Worldwar/Colonization series of books. There are a bunch of fantasy world war 2 games out there.

And "Halo Killer" is a curse upon a game. I think they should stick say the game is going to be awesome, before disappointing us. Hopefully R:FoM will go over well, but I would call any game a Halo Killer. Because they are never are as fun as the Halo. They may have graphical or plot advatages, but they just don't have the goods where it matters, the fun department.

D trub, i know i pretty much said that in my post. Personally id ont get hyped up about any game (or very few games i should say) until they're in my system and i'm a few minutes into it.

Unless its a series or set of games i've enjoyed in the past. Midnight club/GTA/FF/DQ/MGS/DMC/RE/MegaMan/WWE/etc and even then i may not even like it or get hyped about it.

Personally i'm not even gonna worry about any PS3 or Wii game until a week before teh system comes out, like i did with the 360, and i didn't even care about many games then because the ones i wanted weren't scheduled to come out until LATE in the "launch window" like 3 months after the fact heh.

The problem with ALL fanboys is that they are loyal to a PRODUCT. You buy these things because you think that it represents you as a person. I loved the PS1 but I can't understand what people saw in the PS2 besides God of War and a few others. People should wake up and buy what gaming system serves them best. Although nowadays it's become hard to figure which console will suit you the best. I personally choose XBOX because the community feel of the whole thing, that is what I’m looking for. I like being able to hook up with friends of mine over XBL when we don't have time to hang out in REAL life. On-Line is a huge factor and a lot of developers seeing that now. I work for EA (Say what you want, it's pretty sweet) and seeing what happens from the inside really woke me up to how much the industry has changed. Let me end this by saying... if you don't give feedback to these companies like Sony, you won't get change. I'm done ranting... Just think before you buy any console, no matter how much you think you know you really don't. That's the truth!

Halo was a great Game, Great story, etc.
Halo2 was improved Game, but the Story Sucked, but Online was added. Totally unbalanced thanks to the stupid sword.

Halo3 could suck, it could be better, it could be more of the same so lets not speculate too much.

From what I have seen from this game it looks and sounds like it will be good enough to be as good or better than Halo 1 & 2. But at this point it is only speculation.

If your looking for another Halo killer, the Redfaction games were quite good and they had good story.

The one thing that is sure is all this competition makes everything better for us gamers.
Until EA Comes along and buys the exlusive right to First Person Shooters. Damn you EA and the NFL, give us back our choice, give us back our competition.

The reason there are so many xbox fanboys here, is because the xbox360 is such a bad system, that they'd rather spend time trolling PS3 sites, then playing with their 360.

My bro has a 360, he plays it alittle but mainly right now in my home it's an overpriced DVD player.

Anyway to the xbox fanboys: when the term "Halo killer" is used it's obvious that "Halo" is being used as in a FRANCHISE, not just the first game.

Second Halo is overrated, it's a good multy-player game, has the worst single player EVER....mainly only did good because XBOX HAD NO GOOD GAMES. IF Halo were multy console, it would have died out....

As for RFoM being a halo killer...who cares, each person has their own preferences...soem might hate RFoM, some will Love it. whatever.

Godamnit, just stop calling a game the 'Halo killer', i'm a sony fanboy and it just sucks, makes it look really bad, listen, you -can't- beat Halo, its storyline, multiplayer, co-op campaign, nothing. You just can't, unless Resistance fall of men implement elites and grunts (best enemys ever) into the game, it has no chance. Halo's unique, and to beat it, you'd have to make a sequel or prequel to it, not a game where the guns look generic and AI bad (resistance)

Unless Resistance fall of men changes the enemys (the aliens in resistance look really boring and unoriginal, halo's are original, interesting and funny), it has a whole universe, background information, a very interesting main character, creates great novels, a movie, success, more online play, best machinima ever (red vs blue), original game types, interesting guns and unique ness to it, it has no chance against Halo, please stop. Closet game to beat Halo is half life but that fails too.

For me, resistance fall of men can't beat Halo 2 as a personal favorite, heck, I only play Halo 2 so I can go to tournaments and such, play MLG, resistance can't have this so it won't be as good :S
And also making machinima was fun with friends, doubt resistance will be anywhere near as great for the machinima lot.

The only way any FPS is going to kill Halo 2 is if they get online multiplayer correct.

As for the original Halo...people's obssession with that game escapes me.

No FPS, or any online multiplayer game I've played can compete with the dynamic matchmaking scheme that Bungie has come up with. What's even better is that they constantly update it, even two years later!

I seriously doubt that Resistance will have that kind of longevity. The only game I could see that has potential to kill Halo is Aliens vs Predator 3....but that game will probably never be.

But this won't stop me from buying Resistance...whenever I can get a PS3.

Any time I hear the phrase "______ Killer" I start to dislike that game. Can't we just play each game for what it is worth and not try to say each new one is the pinnacle of the genre?

Yeah, I know someone who recently went to a showing of that game, and he is a BIG Halo fan, and he told me that he was very unimpressed with the game play and the graphics.
Maybe they will try to make that Killzone video longer...maybe people would want to buy that. I mean sell it as a DVD so people can watch it on the PS2 for the next year or so, when there might actually be enough PS3s in stores.
