Video Games Live adds Halo 3, Civ IV to repertoire

For those of you with old-school tastes, the original Lucas Arts composers will be giving "a rare special acoustic performance." The press release promises, among others, pieces from Grim Fandango and the Monkey Island series. Sure, there's Halo 3, but we're more geeked out by the thought of Lucas Arts compositions.
Ticket prices range from the very low ($3.00) to the very high ($65.00) and are on sale now.

I've had my tickets July. I went last year. Great event. Yuji Naka signed a buncha stuff and my DS. Hideo Kojima signed stuff and my NES cart. Finally got to meet Stan Lee. And the show kicked ass. Sitting in the stands before the show started playing games with other DS users around me, which I couldnt find, was awesome.
I cant wait to hear the Lucasarts stuff.

Eggzie @ Sep 10th 2006 4:11AM
Civ IV? Yum!
Is it posted anywhere exactly what music is being played from Civ? I can only assume it's Christopher Tin's 'Baba Yetu'(title theme) or 'Coronation'(intro movie)
Man, that's going to be sweet.

-->"just a little worried because theres no real special guest or feature announced"
Be patient...they usually announce special guests, events, etc a 1-3 weeks before the concert date.
@ Xelloss:
Hey what box area are you sitting in? I'm in #173, I think? My tickets are at my desk at work so I'm not 100% sure.
@ daniel:
I was at that concert as well...LOVED IT! Plus I was there this year too (which was a week ago or so.) It was good but not AS good (IMO.)

Someone make sure to record the Grim Fandango and Civ IV suites! I figure everyone and their brother will record Halo 3, but they'll ignore everthing else.
Damn, those Californians always get the good stuff. We didn't get much here in Indy.

I was at the Toronto show on Sept 1st. It was amazing.

Hey Everyone!,
Thank you so much for the kind words and support! The Bowl show in 9 days is going to be one heck of an event! If interested, you can check out the full press release here: http://www.videogameslive.com/index.php?story=59
I even got the Goodyear Blimp involved interactively this year. :)
Here are some answers to some of the comments:
#8 Eggzie: You are right on the money!! We even have the actual African Choir and soloist who recorded the original tracks with Chris!!
#10 Michael: GSI is correct (thx btw GSI!). We usually put out a few different announcements regarding the show. The last one we do (about a week or so out) will consist of all the special guests. In fact we're doing our Hollywood Bowl one on Monday of next week. Here's a little sneak peak though...

32 so far and we haven't even started putting up the designers yet! Should be close to 50 by the weekend.
#12 Magus: Aw Man!! You're probably gonna be a bit disappointed when I tell ya this... but we just played 2 show in Indy with the Indianapolis Symphony during Gen Con last month. :( Sorry ya missed the shows. Don't worry though... we've already made plans to come back again next year with the Indy Symphony!
#13 Kev: Yo! Glad you enjoyed the Toronto show. That was a GREAT time! Massey Hall was such a great venue cause everyone seemed so close to the stage. The Toronto crowd was super excited and loud all night! I loved when everyone started chanting "HA-LO HA-LO" at the end... and how about Martin Leungs performance!! Going into Tetris & Earthworm Jim like that was totally unscripted and really entertaining. Hopefully we'll have time for him to do something like that at the Hollywood Bowl next week. He'll definitely be doing the Final Fantasy piano arrangement we created.
#14 NamePending: Oddly enough we were just on the phone yesterday with the Vancouver folks plotting our return in '07. Did you make it to our Vancouver show last year?
Thanks again everyone for the comments. Please feel free to leave me any questions about the concerts. Looks like I'll be seeing some of you in 9 days!!!
