Joyswag: Most impressive gamer rig

Though not as extraordinary as Gibby's famous Game Room, Joystiq reader Kevout impressed us with his 32-system gamer rig (21-connected), Photoshop labeling skills, nice organization, and TV pity case. He tells us that he actually got the pictured TV out of a dumpster, and that he "spends all his money on video games" rather than investing in a decent TV. For the winning, Kevout gets a FREE copy of Dead Rising for the 360.
Honorable mention: BJ Privette (Nice labels, skull, and classic systems!)
Many thanks to Capcom for the game, and to all who sent in their rig pictures. We'll also be giving away four more copies of Dead Rising all this week in daily contests, so "Hooray Games!" (spoken in my best Jamaican accent) is in order.

Hah! I don't see a PSP but still wicked impressive.
Pan DeQueso @ Sep 11th 2006 2:49PM
I hope that's a DS LITE, not a PHAT. Otherwise, this rig is lacking. ScubaOwl.com
Cody Musser @ Sep 11th 2006 2:51PM
This dude wins a free copy of Dead Rising? Is that not the single, sweetest bit of irony you've ever heard?
ejflex @ Sep 11th 2006 2:53PM
Gotta love the Chris Sabo pic in the background.
Kevout @ Sep 11th 2006 2:54PM
:)))))
JPRacer @ Sep 11th 2006 2:53PM
Yeah, how he'll be able to read the text with that TV?
Deric Lee @ Sep 13th 2006 4:05PM
Gee, if he spends the $6oo he's probably got saved up for a PS3 he could get a nice HD TV.
Player1 @ Sep 11th 2006 2:54PM
How exactly does he have 21 systems connected? I doubt the dumpster TV has 21 inputs.
BklynKid @ Sep 11th 2006 3:06PM
Nice setup. I have a Virtual Boy laying around here somewhere in original packaging.
Jay @ Sep 11th 2006 3:25PM
I dunno ... I don't see the TG-16 CD -- how can you call yourself a gamer without that???
SîL @ Sep 11th 2006 3:01PM
Now just a big ass hot T.V!!!
Baron @ Sep 11th 2006 3:02PM
@8, I'm sure he is running it through several video switching boxes if he has all 21 connected. It would be the only way, as no TV that I know of can accept 21 inputs, dumpster or not.
ejflex @ Sep 11th 2006 3:03PM
On a seperate note... am I the only one that finds this dude to be utterly pathetic... ruining all his gaming experiences on that hunk of shyte TV? I mean give me a break.. the dude spends the THOUSANDS of dollars on all those systems and games.. but hes got a 14" Sylvania Fools Tube chillin there. What a disgrace.
Trukilla @ Sep 11th 2006 8:59PM
I love how He/She has a reserved space for Wii but not for PS3.LOL
Aaron Tyler @ Sep 11th 2006 3:06PM
He also seems to be a 1990 Reds fan... Chris Sabo FTW!
cringer8 @ Sep 11th 2006 3:07PM
@ Player 1
Do you see the hubs sticking out from under the table top? That's how.
I love that he labelled his "Stereo."
cringer8 @ Sep 11th 2006 3:09PM
err, labeled
AJP @ Sep 11th 2006 3:11PM
Seriously, you think you might drop the $400 on a hot 21 in. LCD screen.
Some people...
Although, mad props for the Virtual Boy. Oh, I loved that thing. :(
Kevout @ Sep 11th 2006 3:12PM
Here let me attempt to answer some of these comments:
#1 I will probably get a PSP this holiday for Power Stone
#2 Sorry it's a Phat
#7 I got a HDTV this weekend http://s87121255.onlinehome.us/dailyphoto/200600903/20060908.jpg
#8 With a bunch of switchers,, you can see two of them in the picture under the Game Gear and the Odyssey2
#11 Excuse me I am not pathetic,, just in debt from the new TV
KilgoreTrout XL @ Sep 11th 2006 3:15PM
Very nice. You might need my beloved Atari Lynx to complete your collection.
JGE @ Sep 11th 2006 3:16PM
WHAT!!!? I'm a little disappointed... no Neo Geo. Tsk Tsk Tsk.
KVN @ Sep 11th 2006 4:58PM
Hmmmm no reserved spot for ps3,i guess even the ubber gamers thing $600 is to much for a system.Or maybe he has a diamond encrusted platinum plated entertainment center to put it in.
Kevout @ Sep 11th 2006 3:20PM
Yes a Lynx and a Neo Geo would be great to add to the pile ;;;;;)
Izuna Drop @ Sep 11th 2006 3:22PM
Where's the Vectrex? That was a kick ass system. Seriously, Armor Attack was a great game. Also, I've yet to Texas Instruments Home Computer w/ Munchman in anyone's collection. Munchman = good times at my house, until I got angry, stomped on the system, and broke it...
Aaron Tyler @ Sep 11th 2006 3:25PM
So are you a Reds fan?? From Cincinnati?
White Rose Duelist @ Sep 11th 2006 3:27PM
New style NES? Minus points for that.
oe @ Sep 11th 2006 6:30PM
I'm so down with the missing Lynx comments. I had both generations of Lynx and about 40 games and loved it. Unfortunately, they are both long lost, as well as the games. Oh the hours I spent playing Todd's Adventures in Slime World...
Enzo @ Sep 11th 2006 3:33PM
What resolution is that "HDTV"? It doesn't look 16:9
geehal @ Sep 11th 2006 3:35PM
Nah, the new NES is much rarer and if you actually play the games it works much better. No more NES blow jobs FTW!
Andy @ Sep 13th 2006 11:17AM
Cool, but needed a better TV.
Enzo @ Sep 11th 2006 3:36PM
"New style NES? Minus points for that."
Are you insane? They're much bigger collector's items, and get this, they actually work!
Bryan @ Sep 11th 2006 3:36PM
You win. Your joysitck is bigger than ours.
Nice collection. I see the best part missing though....your PC. I know its got to be there somewhere.
William @ Sep 11th 2006 3:38PM
He doesn't have a cd player for his turbographx!
Al @ Sep 11th 2006 3:40PM
@ 25:
HD compared to the "Dumpter TV" I bet, and as far as I know 16:9 download mean it's HD per say. Instead it means the dimensions. The new and old screen are 4:3 dimensions.
Nice setup and collection there. Especially cool how you have them all connected at the same time. I have about 3 things hooked up to my TV and I still get tangled messes of cable.
Relay @ Sep 11th 2006 3:40PM
I would say keep the dumpster TV just to play your older systems. I got a new HDTV a few months ago, but I had to keep the old TV around because my NES, Genesis, and N64 looked like shit with the high resolution and refresh rate of the HDTV. Don't put that TV back in the dumpster just yet, my friend. Of course, that's just my suggestion.
Kevout @ Sep 11th 2006 3:41PM
#23 Yes I am from Cincinnati but not a Reds fan,, more of a Chris Sabo/Eric Davis fan
#24 you must be kidding,, NES games actually work on that model and more importantly they KEEP working,, they don't crap out after 10 minutes
#25 It's a 4:3 CRT 27",, I suppose that is cheating but it has 2 HDMI and 2 component ports so it works,, plus the picture is amazing holy cow
#27 I use a Mac, hahaha
Enzo @ Sep 11th 2006 3:43PM
@ #30
I know it doesn't, but HD resolutions don't display in 4:3, so I think it's a more important question. 720p, 1080i, and 1080p are all 16:9 resolutions, and that tv looks like it's 4:3.
hello @ Sep 11th 2006 3:48PM
Hey Kevout, where’s your zx spectrum 48k. Commodore 64’s are for losers. ;-)
villainy @ Sep 11th 2006 3:49PM
I don't know about the rest of you, but I think BJ Privette better get that standing PS2 off the top shelf there. Those big non-slim PS2s are fragile enough as it is without risking a 4 or 5 foot fall from some shelves!
r-deezy @ Sep 11th 2006 3:49PM
WOW... I almost forgot how big the Game Gear is!
Duscrom @ Sep 13th 2006 1:47PM
Dude, you have my utmost respect for picking up a REAL TV. DOn't believe all the hype about LCD/Plasma crap. I got me a nice 27" CRT HDTV, and yes, the picture DOES look amazing. Mine is 4:3 as well, but I have a button that switches it to 16:9 mode.
You sir, are a real gamer. And to everyone else, No you don't have to speen Thousands on an HDTV. Pick up a good CRT for $400ish. Or find a deal (i got mine for a lil under $275
Jay @ Sep 11th 2006 3:57PM
No Commodore Amiga? Not a gamer, poser.
RocketPunch @ Sep 11th 2006 4:01PM
Most impressive gamer rig??? LOL. WoW, the only impressive "rig" here is the results. He doesn't even have a good tv for that, hell knows if he use a $19 pc speaker for sound.
If he's going to win anything at all, should probably the cleanest room among all Joystiq readers award!
Kevout @ Sep 11th 2006 4:04PM
#38 I just got a new TV as commented before http://s87121255.onlinehome.us/dailyphoto/200600903/20060908.jpg
b @ Sep 11th 2006 4:06PM
Almost made me cry.
KilgoreTrout XL @ Sep 11th 2006 4:12PM
Kevout:
The most "impressive" part of this comment section is the amount of shit you're taking for your pretty awesome and damned-near all encopassing 1980 - 2006 collection.
Holy shitballs, people. Before YOU misplaced it, YOUR old NES beltbuckle really tied your room together, did- it- not?
-...Fucking A, Man.
/FUCKING/ A, Man.
redspear @ Sep 11th 2006 4:15PM
Kevout is such a fanboy.
I mean a space reserved for the Wii and not the PS3 adn no PSP. I bet this guy only plays nintendo games or MS games.
You know Kevout you should get a PS3 just so you can play your games in 1080P!
Skandall @ Sep 11th 2006 4:23PM
No Amiga 1000, 500, 2000, 600, 3000, 1200, or 4000? No AmigaCD32 (I it was the first 32bit CD based game console after all)? No Amiga CDTV? Seriously, we all know the Amiga wasn't good for anything other than games (oh, and TV SFX, and video editing) so how can any "collection" be complete without at least an A500 and an AmigaCD32.
redspear @ Sep 11th 2006 4:28PM
Skandall
Amiga's were way ahead of their time for everything.
It took years for Mac's and PC's to catch up with Amiga in termsof Sound synthesizing, Multimedia, video compression, Hell even decent color.
Amiga's were king of Multimedia and Games. They were great for production and had a much more efficent OS than Mac or PC could dream of.
Historian @ Sep 11th 2006 6:50PM
Ah, collectors are always looked apon as a little crazy...
And for the record I have not one, but two TI-99 4/a computers in my collection.
But no Sony screen for the PS1? Tell me it's just packed away...
