Not impressive at all, I know guys in real and of course seen pictures of gamers' rigs on the net, that are WAY more impressive than that! Not a single Arcade cabinet? Shame! And 568 games for 32 systems? That's an avg. of a mere 17.75. Who knows how many of them are pirated copies...
I don't mind people spending all their money on games if they got their daily needs covered, like food, shelter and clothes but there's too many recent systems and too little rarities to really call this a decent collection. NeoGeo anyone?

However I refuse to pay $600 for a PS3,, I'd rather spend that on a good TV [and I did]

Beyond that, it's a nice rig. I'm only just starting to build my collection up from the doldrums. I've almost spent my entire life on handheld systems.

FYI Comment #42 was sarcasm.

I am not going to spend 600 dollars on a PS3 either. I have a PSPbut didn't use it much after wipe out.

The TV was a better investment. Anyways nice collection. I just had to mock those 1080p comments I keep reading here.

Also i can't believe you only have 568 games!! I'm already upto 429 and i have only the 3 current gen consoles... nice clean room though!

In a pig's eye. Nice beckpedaling, champ. FYI, if you have to explain it, you're not fit to use sarcasm.

Kevout, all the whiny detractors here are just jealous that they didn't win. Very nice collection and congrats on your win.

Pikachelsea.

It was poorly worded sarcasm. Hence the mentioning of the word fanboy when he obviously has every major system(post 85) out there. Failing only the Neo Geo.

The 1080P was also a reference to the fact that some gamers on these boards go over and over about how hardcore gamers all have HDTV's and need to play it on 1080P. So I was saying he can play 1080P on his dumpster TV. Hell I used to use dumpster monitors on my PC and put my money inot the PC itself.

Kev has updated his TV it still isn't 1080P I think. It is a good TV for gaming from what he posted.

AS for Backpedaling. Don't be pathetic.

BTW Kevout what are you going to doa about hte VC on the Wii and its catalogue of the games are you going ot play the originals or rebuy them?

@24: Yeah, because being a gamer requires you to have an older console that doesn't play games anymore.

Am I the only one missing an original Gameboy? And a Gameboy Color? And no, the GBA doesn't count, it displays the games way differently. :(

"31. I would say keep the dumpster TV just to play your older systems. I got a new HDTV a few months ago, but I had to keep the old TV around because my NES, Genesis, and N64 looked like shit with the high resolution and refresh rate of the HDTV. Don't put that TV back in the dumpster just yet, my friend. Of course, that's just my suggestion."

Totally seconded. As opposed to what ejflex seems to think, huge (HD)TV's completely ruin any pre-64bit game's graphics. You don't know how beautiful and sharp some SNES or PSX games can look until you've played them on a 14 inch.

Really I don't see a switch box of any sorts and No wireing. So you
don't have them hooked up! I do! You probably just laid them out like
that. I tought the contest was originaly suppose to be who had the
most systems hooked up. If that was the case than I could have laid
out my PS1. Game Boy, Domestic Dreamcast, Gameboy Advance, Neo Geo
Pocket, Original NES, Blue N64,Atari 2600, Genesis, 32x,TigerPocket
etc. Come on JOYSTIQ. You changed the rule. What Gives? Should I take
a picture of my systems just laid out than? These are your words
Joystiq: But who has the highest number of platforms actively
connected to a TV, and what do you use for the connection? Seems like
you went back on your contest rule and changed it for who has the most
laid out systems in a room. It's not Like a need a copy of Dead Rising
(I have it). I just think you guys forgot your own rule. lol.

#63 the NES, SENS, N64, GameCube, GameBoy Player, Master System, Genesis, Sega CD, 32X, Saturn, Dreamcast, XBox, XBox 360, PSOne, PS2, Jaguar, 3DO, TurboGrafx, 2600 and 800XL are all hooked up in that picture. That makes 17 systems, 20 if you count the add-ons. The others I do not always keep hooked up because I am out of shelf space and the plugs are huge. If you look between the center and right shelf you see an extension cord that I use to play those systems on when I want to. There are 3 switchers,, One on top of the left shelf for the SNES, N64, GameCube and upcoming Wii, one on top of the right shelf for the Genesis/Sega CD/32X, Saturn, DreamCast and XBox. The third switcher is under the TV behind the PSOne, which connects to the PSOne, PS2, the Nintendo switcher and the Sega Switcher. The 360 and the older systems link directly to the TV. I can even take a new picture if you want me to. Any more questions?

@ Redspear

Don't have to tell me. I've got an A500 and an A4000. I still plan to pick up the new AmigaOne with AmigaOS 4.0. The multi-tasking capabilities alone still walk all over Mac and PC since it's a nearly a full Real Time OS. Of course, the games were insane when compared to anything else available at the time. Oh how I wish Commodore hadn't blown the marketing of Amiga.

But why give a label to an Atari 1030 modem? That's not a game system. For a second there, I thought he meant the Atari 1050 5 1/2" disk drive. And why hook up a VCS and a 2600 when they are the same machine in different packaging? I might see merit hooking a 2600 and a 7800 - even though the 7800 was able to play most 2600 games - although preferably, I'd go for a 5200 and a 7800. As others mentioned, the set-up is not complete without an Amiga 500, and perhaps an Atari 520STe to round everything out. Then again, a TI99/4A with the voice modulator and a copy of Parsec wouldn't hurt either!

Extreme bonus points if a Coleco Adam or a Mattel Aquarius were added to the setup.

what's up with all this...

"hmm...I don't see (said system not found in picture after researching to find one that kevout doesn't have) so you must not be a hardcore gamer" bullshit.

Give the guy a break. He's got more home consoles than anyone I know. I went by the wayside and sold off all my old consoles because virtually all of them have emulators on PC that offer...I hate a say a much more RELIABLE experience. While it may not be the same as the original, it's damn close, and at least I don't have to blow on River City Ransom 10 times and wiggle the cartridge around for an hour to get it to work. Does that mean I'm not a "true gamer"? Hell no.

I spend every minute of free time I have playing games almost. I also spend every free dollar I have on them for that matter as well. The only thing that defines someone as a "true gamer" is if you have a genuine interest in video games and love to play them. Who gives a shit if you own a Vectrex or a Turbo Grafix 16 CD.

As far as the HDTV goes, I think you made a good choice kevout. Samsung makes good products, and since you have so many retro consoles that are native to a 4:3 picture, the 4:3 HDTV was a wise decision. The downside is XBOX360 doesn't support 4:3 TV's in HD. So everytime you play in 720p/1080i your picture will be all scrunched together. No big deal. I'm sure it still looks great in 480p leaps and bounds beyond your old TV.

Reason why this is blog-worthy to Joystiq: No PSP, no 'space' for a PS3 (and Kevout announcing he won't pay $600 for one).

...Nice collection, though, I wish my room was that clean. Too bad you're denying yourself all the current great games on the PSP, plus the awesome titles on the Lynx and NeoGeo, but don't listen to the haters.

Maybe I should do one of these? Only prob is my Nomad, Lynx and NeoGeo + games were stolen a while back. :(((
