NPD data released last Friday showed an 18% game sales increase for the month of August in the US. Madden NFL 07, which was the top seller on every home console, was cited as the catalyst. Next-Gen reports: "Strong sales on both the current (PS2, Xbox, GameCube, GBA) and next generation (Xbox 360, PSP, DS) software fronts helped beat forecasts [of $360M]. Current generation software sales came in at $249 million, while next generation sales were $148 million, with Xbox 360 software sales pulling in $89 million."In light of increasing sales, can anyone still deny how big games are in the entertainment business?
