I was going to mention that "the developers comments have really encouraged me to buy a Wii... can't wait..."

...but instead, I'll continue with the tone of the thread....

QUOTE:
If wiitards don't need any more power, why do they keep jumping on every rumour that Wii has 'teh secr3t graphix pow3r!'?

LOL. You're as transparent as wonderwoman's invisible jet.

Don't worry wiitards, I'm sure Ninty will reveal the secret uber chip and graphic tricks that give Wii's overclocked gamecube parts the same power as the Cell + RSX, and output in 1080p.

I find it very interesting at some level, that people will fight so vehemently over something they are totaly ignorant about. None of us posses, or have inspected a Wii or PS3 yet, so none of us can say one thing or another with true confidence about how Wii/360/PS3 will or will not stack up against each other, or graphing calculators for that matter.

Anything predicted or debated now is sheer speculation from deductive reasoning - not fact - and certainly nothing to get all fanboy/hateboy crazy about.

Furthermore, some of you have pointed out quite correctly that specs don't mean SQUAT when comparing consoles since there is NO STANDARDIZED ARCHITECTURE used across the gaming industry. Slower chips can often outperform faster ones in the console world if the developer applies it correctly (GameCube vs. XBOX), while high-end spec system can lose out to the low-end system due to lack of vision and focus on gameplay (N64 losing to Play Station). For a console system to perform well at market, it must accomplish a balance of many aspects.

Also, fanboys/hateboys should consider this: Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft don't care if they "beat out" the other companies... all they really want to do is develop and market a system that will generate a profitable ROI (Return On Investment). After all - they ARE businesses - as long as cash is made, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. Even if PS3 outsells the bejesus out of Wii, Wii can still potentially make more moeny due to the financial structure and audience of the system. Many people that do not choose Wii for their primary console may still buy into Wii for their secondary system due to the very low price point.

But who cares?

If YOU buy the system(s) YOU like, and the companies are all able to generate the money they expect - WE ALL GO HOME HAPPY. Quit bitchin.

Personaly, I find the new direction Nintendo is taking to be invigorating for the living room entertainment medium. The lack of focus on graphics processing does not bother me... especially since my 2 year old 8x AGP video card and Pentium4 3.2GHz will WHOOP/PWN any current or scheduled console's ASS anyday in terms of graphics ability and specs.

If you TRUELY want the highest specs, performance, light-pipes, texture renderers/shaders, Antisotrpic filters, HIGH resolutions (LOL @ just 1080p and Hi-Def), AI, advanced physics, etc, etc - THEN GET A COMPUTER AND BE DONE WITH IT.

I built mine for under $600 bucks, and the GPU is rather behind-the-times - but will still make any console look rather wimpy in regard to sheer power and specs. Certainly more economical than a PS3, certainly does more than a PS3, games look better than a PS3, and get this... the release date for my PC was ANYDAY I WANTED IT TO BE!! ...AND THE SPECS CAN BE AS HIGH AS I WANT TO UPGRADE THEM!! LOL

Seriously though - I know I'm poking fun and kidding around in typical blog fashion - but if you claim to be a hardcore gamer and NEED those graphics and specs, shouldn't you be on a PC where the REAL horesepower is? The living room gaming console should accomplish something totally different.

BOTTOM LINE? Don't let yourself become a hype junkie or free advertising for one of these companies. Let's all remain calm and intelligent in our console debates!

END RANT::.

Ninja Out.

I've been a hard core gamer for many, many years, and have had practically all the systems in the past. Including the gamecube, PS2, and XBOX. And Currently All I have now is the 360 and I get tired of seeing the same old stuff, just souped up looking graphics. Which it's cool, but honestly everyone here is soooooo worried about the graphics of the wii. Honestly who gives a shit the games itself will be nice, without the same ole shit were used to. Since when did we step into an age where graphics makes up games? Remember the Panasonic 3DO? Way ahead of it's time in graphics compared to what was out at the time. But did it do anything hell no. Gameplay is what makes up games. Don't get me wrong eye-candy definitely helps, but only lasts for such a short time. Also for all those who didn't know, the GC was more powerful than the PS2, but of course since people complained about the lack of 3rd party publishers, M-rated games, and there sort of cheesy controller, it was never seen as a great console, which it was. All I can leave you all with is I'm definitely getting a Wii and I'm not going to have to sit in line like I did for weeks waiting for my 360 which I've already had to get repaired twice by Microsoft. As far as a PS3 maybe when the price drops to $250 than I'll think about it, I can't help that I'm a gamer and of course I'll probably end up with all system like I've always had. But I can tell you that the Wii is the new Revolution of play, mark my words on that one. Nintendo the Innovators not the imitators, and I'll be having one right by my 360. So Screw all you haters
