Can someone please devise some kind of way to fastward time to tomorrow night? lol
The suspense is killing me...and even more so b/c I know people at Nintendo that won't tell me a work. >_

God, I HOPE we get a price and date today....
GSI @ Sep 13th 2006 3:13AM
I'm 99.999999% sure b/c they've already said full details to be released by September.
J Adam @ Sep 15th 2006 6:49AM
I can't wait for this wii thing, sure I'm only getting two games for it but.. I'm actually excited to get it! This is the most excited I've been since I got my dreamcast on launch day 9/9/99 BABY!

Why the better graphics rumor could be true.
Allot of people think the Wii have better graphics then what's been shown so far.
They say this is Nintendo's last big secret.
The nay-sayers say why would Nintendo downgrade the graphics of games that have been shown off before, it would cost to much to make 2 different versions of the game.
But I think both sides are right and wrong.
The Wii can natively play Gamecube games right? The first couple of Wii dev kits were just gamecubes with extra ram correct?
The Ati chip was the last part to be completed correct? (the Nintendo website says BEING DEVELOPED BY ATI)
What if Nintendo and the 3rd partys developed all the launch games using the FLipper chip and not the new Hollywood chip (because it was not finished yet).
So instead of delaying the Wii launch a year, they developed all the games with souped up Gamecube specs, and later games next year will take advantage of the new tech in the new upgraded ATI chip.
I am not saying the Wii will have graphics on par or better than 360/PS3 but they will look better than the gamecube looking launch games.
Dylan @ Sep 13th 2006 3:47AM
I'd just find it rather funny how one little known blog (or whatever it is) has now been passed around all of the major gaming blogs for the one reason that somebody over there figured out timezones.
Silver R. Wolfe @ Sep 13th 2006 4:14AM
They'll never tell you how much it costs or when it comes out. They've already strategically planted Wii consoles all over the world. The seeds are planted but the proud owners of the console are keeping quiet.
I mean, what do I know, it's not like I have one or anything. >.>
DSK @ Sep 13th 2006 4:20AM
Who's gonna lose their job this time??
Infil @ Sep 13th 2006 4:30AM
Perhaps the better question is; who is going to bet that Nintendo *doesn't* say anything about price and launch? I'll take that bet.
There's almost virtually no chance that we won't find out all the last juicy tidbits about Wii's launch, and any other surprises they've got, too. They're holding a worldwide Nintendo day, after all. They're finally willing (and desperately wanting) to talk.
Yamen @ Sep 13th 2006 4:40AM
Woo! This is really exciting. I hope I can wake up tomorrow to some good news!

of course the new games will look better than what we've seen so far, hell, most gamecube games look better than what we've seen so far. I don't think nintendo is trying to trick anyone though, they're just keeping quiet and letting us work ourselves into a fervor.

Read the IGN interview with the Madden developers on Wii's graphics. Madden Wii is better than the Xbox's and in some instances pushing on the 360's graphics.
Textures, textures, textures. It's all about textures. Also, Hollywood (Flipper2) now has shaders. So it looks like Hollywood has more than the Flipper's (3MB) internal cache and framebuffer.

It looks like I'll be sitting here at 2am (BST) reading live coverage of the japanese press event. Does anyone know if any site will be reporting from the japanese press event?

That's funny, you agree with W!!On360 and yet when I click your name and goto your website you have FOUR "articles" (or whatever you try to pass them off as) side by side that are all positive Wii-rleated stories.
Glancing over one it seems you can't wait until they release what will be on the VC as well.
Strange, and yet boring.
Jay @ Sep 13th 2006 7:27AM
You know what would have been nice? Localised times for the press events. WTF is 9am EDT for our UK press event?
ChrisRX @ Sep 13th 2006 7:31AM
@Jay: Read the paragraphs not just the tables
"The European event, will begin at 12:00PM BST on Friday (15th) in the UK"
Paul Gale @ Sep 13th 2006 7:38AM
The fact that Nintendo said that all will be revealed regarding Wii in September, makes these two upcoming days of three conferences very likely to be "The Days" we learn of the prices and release date(s).
Nintendo is really on to someting huge here and the seeing continuously on one poll after the other, Nintendo winning, means that at least the majority of gamers that go online are looking forward to a Wii quite a bit.
After Friday night, Nintendo launch info will be available to the mass public by newspapers, radio, and the almighty television. If the price is right, which it most likely will be and if the date is solid (looks like it could be an October release), then Nintendo is inching closer to be an early winner this holiday season and beyond for a good while.

Japan's announcement: 5pm on Wednesday
New York's announcement: 6am on Thursday
Europe's announcement: 4am on Friday
Icehammer @ Sep 13th 2006 7:59AM
Well, I think they're going to be releasing the price, release date, and probably the pack-ins for the retail box, but i'm really doubting that they're going to have better graphics. I honestly don't think they're that bad anyway. I never expected the Wii to output visuals on the level of 360 anyway, and I certainly hope it puts less strain on my wallet than the 360.

Does this mean we can Pre-Order one tomorrow?

And that's putting it conservatively.
On the other hand I'm very liberal.
The Wii is the Future of Gaming and will RULE the Seventh Generation reminiscent of the days of the original NES worldwide.
And gaming will be better for it.
The DS is your clue.
And this link is The Omen.

First of all, go back to school and finish the 5th grade before you try to debate consoles with the big dogs kid. I can tell that you are young by your spelling and minimal knowledge about games.
Second of all, Sony is a horrible company that will bomb with the PS3. Nintendo and Wii are the only console to buy this generation because most of sony's crappy 1st party games will be ported.
Third of all, Sony didn't incorporate blueray into their system because of the games. They added blueray because it gives them an edge in the format war and idiots like you will buy it because of the BRAND NAME.
Fourth of all, Nintendo rules.
Quaddw @ Sep 13th 2006 8:40AM
IF they didn't tell the release details and price (as well as packages and colors) I would probaly freak out XD
I could see the mwaiting till the last minute and being like, "Oh btw the Wii will come out on X and will be priced at Y, so see you then."
Platinum Skeet @ Sep 13th 2006 8:44AM
Man the big secrect has to be the graphics. The original Xbox had better graphics than the Wii with less CPU. So I'm assuming the Wii can do much better because it has the GC's architecture.
Jay @ Sep 13th 2006 8:49AM
The Intangible Fact and a couple of others - you wrote all that towards a joke of a comment. Look at his name for a big, fat, obvious glowing hint.

It looks like we will all finally be able to stop this speculation in the next 2 or 3 days, and move on!
THANK BLODDY GOD!
Jay @ Sep 13th 2006 8:56AM
Platinum Skeet - That is an excellent point you bring up. But I think we have seen most of it's power. A lot of people missed out on some of the finer details on the Wii - Splinter Cell Wii has SO much AA. It's squirming in a vat of the stuff. Also, in Mario Smash Football Wii the crowd is entirely 3D, and it is HUGE. It blew me away at how they've rendered countless amounts of 3D models without a slight whiff of slowdown.
Take Dead Rising. With all them zombies with all their AI chugging away, that could not have run on the original Xbox. Whereas it would likely run on the Wii but at a lower resolution. Graphics aren't just prettier looking environments; it's also about how much you can throw into the environment.
The Wii's power is that it's able to render so damn much (Smash Football Wii) and smother it in copious amounts of Anti Aliasing. The only down side to the Wii graphics is highest resolution of 480p (which, is actually new in the UK as 480i was the peak for last gen for us).

r0Be @ Sep 13th 2006 9:09AM
How crazy would it be if they just started selling them tomorrow morning at the Nintendo World Store in NY, with them showing up accross America in stores over the next two shipping days......
dsub @ Sep 13th 2006 9:13AM
Nintendo is smart. Whatever they say tonight in Japan they will be sure to make it sound like it involves Japan only. For instance, if they announce a price and launch date, they'll probably say, for instance "The Wii in launch HERE IN JAPAN on November 17th (or whatever date) for X amount of yen". They will say NOTHING involving North America or Europe. Otherwise, why would they be having three press conferences around the globe?
I think it's quite obvious that Nintendo is going to do a worldwide launch. They just don't want you to know that until they come to your continent.

For those of us in Japan or have friends in Japan, the retailer Tsutaya is taking Wii reservations. I made mine August 4th and I am the first in line for that location.
And WOW... It's amazing how many people couldn't read into that guys (W!!On360) post as being a humorous take on how stupid fanboys can be. It's so incredibly thick on stupidity, how could anyone think it's real?
CUBS RULE BEARS RULE BULLS RULE @ Sep 13th 2006 9:22AM
you know what i think nintendo will say is
1)show a game with better graphics that are better than xbox but no where as good as a 360 and perpherials and wat u get in the the choice of packages
2)that they mass produce Wii's so we will have more than enough for launch(5 million is my guess 2 mil for japan 2 mil for usa and 1 mil for europe sry guys) cuz if they said they have been making them chips since july and packaging them already
3)the release dates world wide lauch
4) last but not least the price
thats how my dream nintendo conferance will go now lets see wat they do
ps:does anyone know wat time it will be in chicago for the japan show i'm bad at figuring these types of things out
CUBS RULE BEARS RULE BULLS RULE @ Sep 13th 2006 9:30AM
i agree with #35 its will bve like that cuz why would they have 3 press events and the way it goes is how the lauch will be japan usa europe but they won't jip us on systems like ps3 and some what 360 since Wii has been in production for awhile know if wat they say is true about them already packaging systems

Stop being graphics whores people, PS2 was number one with the worst graphics out of all three systems. Ps1 spanked the N64, while having worst graphics than that system. Even the Snes was competing and winning against the PS1 with considerably lower graphics, bottom line graphics do not win console wars, never have never will.
Alot of people are going Nintendo WII can't become an industry leader because the graphics are so far behind, but the industry leader has never been a machine that has superior graphical capability over their competitors, that is a real gaming myth that nobody ever speaks about. It seems to be the loudest gaming myth of them all, because if graphics is what propelled the gaming industry, the PC industry would have crushed console gaming a very long time ago. Hell even the knew iterations of your favorite consoles coming out this year, will not keep up or even compete with the gaming PCs that come out in January 2007 so please give it a rest.
Second I have to say that since sony has been number one in the industry for so long and yet so many are complaining about graphics it can only mean two things. Either (A): Many of you are hypocrites, and don't care about graphics and just want something to cry about from nintendo, since you can't match games cause their first party upholds the system, or quality in content since nintendo looks for a different audience, and you are scared of xbox so you want nothing to do with making comparisons between MS and Sony. Or it can be (B): You don't really notice the difference in graphical quality unless pointed out,so you just voice opinions you trust and hear. If you are in category (A) you are just sad, because denying the competition won't save your precious system. IF you are in company (B) you are even sadder because rather than have pure enjoyment, you chose to be a fanboy to a cause that didn't matter to you.
In any event, people need to stop looking for the WII to be some sort of graphics power house, and enough with complaining that it is not one. Nintendo is trying to go game play quality content over graphics, and there has not been any precedent before them that says they are wrong. If anything by the way the console industry dominates the PC industry, and how no machine in past console wars has dominated with graphics, nintendo seems to be the only one who gets it. So tomorrows conference will not be about graphics, and will probably be about price, date, and availibilty towards the consumers.
