Can't really comment on King Kong or Madden 2007, but since they are EA games, I would have to agree with you on them on GP. Now Table Tennis was pretty easy I have to admit.

Now on Chromehounds I would have to disagree with you, cause getting Top Marks for the Secret Mission was a bit of a challenge, as it was with many others. I do know that some people got Top Marks fairly easy, but overall I felt it required a certain amount of time invested so it was worth it.

Smash TV, seems a little crazy, but I am willing to give it a try sometime. Especially when I have a lot of time on my hands. Its not as bad as leadership board achievements.

Dead Rising, I disagree. Even though Otis is annoying as hell, its just something to do when you have played the game and beat it X times already. I mean if you are going to put the Transmissionary one on there.. You might as well put up the following.. Gourmet (eat all food), PP Collector ( there are 100 stickers hidden to find), Clothes Horse (change into all costumes in mall).

Although I fully agree with the three leadership board achievements on GRAW. I see people doing nothing but cheating to get that one, boosting games and such. There are some people that are really good and deserve to be on the top of the leadership boards, but not the ones that cheat.

Obviously, they've never played Bejeweled 2 Deluxe, which features a measly 20 point achievement for playing through level 280 in Endless Mode. Such a feat would take nearly a month of playtime, maybe more. And all you get is a crappy 20 points. It's complete garbage. Worst. Achievement. Ever.

@2 My wife is working on that one. Its an achievement more for the casual gamer in mind. Where you just work at it for a time. It does take a long time, but you do unluck a new mode called Finity. It gets a little interesting when you get pas level 70 because the gem counter looks a little different. I have to say that Endless Achievement with 280 levels is perfect in someways, because if you complete that you will be very close to getting the 1000 Hypercubes and 10,000 Power Cubes achievement. If you look at the leaderboards, you will notice that someone is at level 480 or something.

How could they even think about making a list like this and not put Zuma's Sharpshooter achievement up there?

Burnout's movie download achievements were pretty lame too.

I hate the Achievements in GRAW where you have to be #1 on a leaderboard...

Where's the "play 1000 online matches" for Tiger Woods? Isn't 1,000 rounds of golf the ultimate crappy achievement?

Yeah, arcade games give 200 pts max and some have really time consuming tasks. The Xbox360 design team's original thought was that arcade games are going to be a little quick game and shouldn't give the same total points as a fully purchased game. But some of them make me work as hard or harder for their 200 pts than a full priced game that will give me 1000 pts.

I've noticed some of the EA Sports games have ridiculously rewarded achievments (e.g, 8 achievments at about 100 Gamerpoints each). A lot of 'Pro' players seemed to have picked these games up...

Chromehounds and Dead Rising aren't too hard - there are just a 'lot' of achievments, most at 20 GP each. Now Quake 4 was a nightmare, as was Battlfield 2.

To be honest, the only game where the achievments felt fair and made you continue playing in my opinion was Oblivion. None of them were impossible, and once all of them had been unlocked, you had pretty much done everything.

Most of the time however, I just go for the achievements I can whilst playing the game, and forget about the rest.

I was wondering if I was the only one that felt the "Sharpshooter" achievement in Zuma was damn near impossible. I keep starting level 1 over and over hoping to get lucky. I have noticed a few people out there that have it so I know it's possible. It just depends on luck of the draw and not skill, really, which I think sucks.

What about PDZ, where you get 10 points for beating the game on the hardest level, as well as beating the game co-op on the hardest lvl is like 25, WACK.

Oh don't forget the easy 1000pts you can get for playing nba2k6

Oh and finaly "Create a player" achivement for making a player in madden. Achivements definatly need to be rounded out

What about how you get separate achievements for Quake IV, depending on the difficulty. So if you get the achievement for the hardest level, you still have to play it all over at the easier levels to earn those achievements. Dumb.

Anyone think that some of the PGR3 achievements are bull? Maybe it's just me, but beating everything on Platinum seems like too much effort for an achievement.

To be honest, I never could really get behind the gamer score feature. about the only thing that it tells you is how obsessive compulsive a gamer is (I guess I never understood the completionist nature of most gamers). I feel like I'd be more into gaining achievements if we got some sorta incentive... like 50 gamer points for every 1000 gamer score... which makes perfect sense... since you're basically encouraging people to buy more games and play more games.

but I have to say, the lamest achievements I've seen where those in Burnout in regards to their clip sharing feature

Check it Out (10) Share a Burnout Clip.
Your Opinion Counts (10) Recommend a Burnout Clip.
Celebrity Status (65) Get a Clip in the Top 20 Downloads

what a perfectly BS way to try to promote a BS feature that no one gives a damn about :p

what the heck is smashtv doing on here? that makes no sense.
and where's the entry for every achievement in nba 2k6? every single one! easiest 1000 pts ever.
as others have said, pgr3 has some doozies, too.

Acheivements shouldn't necessarily be "fair," or there'd be nothing about it making it an achievement. If it's really hard to get it, the people who do were working VERY hard to get it.

@ edhe

I would have agreed with you oh about a couple months ago, but now that I know how to play the game and that each mode requires a different strategy the game has become much easier.

I hated the game before, but didnt care since my wife loved it.

@Trauts

The only thing I aruge about what you have to say is if the achievements are leaderboard achievements. As stated by a couple of achievementwhores & Microsofts developer documentation on types of achievements to avoid:

"Avoid achievements that reward getting a high ranking, reaching a top spot on the leaderboards, or winning a tournament. By definition, there is only a small group of people who will ever be able to attain the achievement (the Extreme Achievers or Killers again, depending on the nature of the leaderboard). As time goes on, it becomes more and more difficult to earn the achievement. This inspires people to figure out ways to cheat the system. Getting that ranking should be its own, separate reward system."

The document was part of the Gamefest that Microsoft held just recently. If you go to letsKillDave's blog you can download the 500mb files. This one was located in the Cross-Platform Xbox Live file.
