The UK's fastest-selling Xbox 360 game yet, Dead Rising has rushed straight to the top of the all-format charts this week. Beating popular newcomers Lego Star Wars II and Test Drive Unlimited to number one, Dead Rising's debut means a drop in position for last week's high-rankers Cars and Saints Row. A recent expansion pack means The Sims 2 is unfortunately still glued to the top-ten list.1. Dead Rising
2. Saints Row
3. Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy
4. Test Drive Unlimited
5. Cars
6. The Sims 2: Glamour Life Stuff
7. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
8. New Super Mario Bros.
9. The Sims 2
10. Dr Kawashima's Brain Training

Dead Rising is a AAA title in my opinion. The game is just ingenious. The only real flaw the game has is the issue with SDTV's. The save system was obviously made that way on purpose to make the game more difficult, and I can't wait for the inevitbale Dead Rising 2.

Capcom must have had a hell of a time (no pun intended) coming up with a system that allows both exploration, challenge and actual gameplay in such a detailed, midly large (but not enormous) gameworld based around quite a limited concept (kill the zombies, save the people).
I was worried that the game would be "too hard" or that it would force me to do things I wouldn't want to do, before playing it.
On first play I was alarmed by the difficulty and the timing needed, the save system appeared at first to be in no mans land.
Then I restarted, this time without internal pressure on myself and realised that they did it this way to ALLOW YOU TO PLAY THE GAME HOWEVER YOU DAMN WELL LIKE.
The fact is you CAN finish the game by doing next to nothing, you can finish it time and time again with different results and the replayability is vast in this game because of the fact you can do previous successful things BETTER this time around and go on to attempt the next one (Cases and Scoops).
Besides all of that, you can choose to wander aimlessly, shoot the survivors in the head (if that's your bag) or just take photos.
The genius (and saving grace in all of this) is the fact that you *KEEP* your status when you "save and quit" So each time the game is over it's your choice. If you know you want to last 3 days and have done things right so far you choose to load and carry on again (this time not messing up and being sure to save again quite soon). Otherwise you say "oh well, I fcked up, my fault but I will RESTART the game knowing what I know now and this time I will be starting at level 16 instead of level 1" which is a very empowering feeling.
If they had made the save work in the tradition way (linear, do task, save anywhere) the game would have been over in no time and there wouldn't be much reason to go back.
I applaud Capcom for trying something different, and more importantly making the game itself which would be no mean feat for any designer faced with the problems of game structure and how to save.
C'mon a few hours on a dark evening spent running around the mall, seeing new (glorious) cut scenes, leveling up (with RPG levels of addictiveness), unlocking achievements and soaking up the brilliant atmosphere is something to be celebrated. This game more than many shows how far we have come since the days of 16 bit platformers.
And for any fan of movies of this kind, or horror in general (especially non serious comedy horror) is in their element with this game. Moreso than Resident Evil 4 (which I also rate of course).

Good to see the Two nintendo games that reached No1 still in the charts which is becoming more and more common.

I'm sure it's for the PS2, that's on the US charts as well, I believe.
And why is it suprising that a PS2 game would outsell a DS game? There are over 100 million PS2 owners out there... only a fraction of people own DSes. That's why they released it on PS2, after all - much more profit than if it was PSP exclusive.

Please. 3 of the top 5 UK =360. I'm sure GAF buried this sales chart on the forum within two pages, but they'll drag the next media create on for at least 12 to gloat over Nintendo.
Also the enterbrain chart japanese chart is up (no numbers just ranking) and it shows a PSP game at #1 AHAHAHAHA!!!
Here it is:
Enterbrain Numbers from 4.9 - 10.9
1. (NEU) Tales of Phantasia Full Voice Edition (PSP, Bandai Namco)
2. ( 3 ) Final Fantasy III (NDS, Square Enix)
3. ( 2 ) New Super Mario Bros. (NDS, Nintendo)
4. ( 5 ) Mogitate Tincle no Bara Iro Ruppii Land (NDS, Nintendo)
5. ( 4 ) Kahashima Ryuuta Kyouju Kanshuu: Motto Nou o Kitaeru Otona DS Training (NDS, Nintendo)
6. ( 1 ) Phantasy Star Universe (PS2, Sega)
7. ( 6 ) Shaberu! DS Oryouri Navi (NDS, Nintendo)
8. ( 8 ) Rhythm Tengoku (GBA, Nintendo)
9.( 8 ) Animal Forest Wild World (NDS, Nintendo)
10. ( 6 ) Tamagotchi no Puchi Puchi Omisecchi Gohi-Kini (NDS, Bandai Namco)
Also I love how GAF keeps making up bullshit about how FF3 just isn't selling because of a shortage and "they'll sell as many as they can produce" when week after week, it just doesn't sell that well and it's not because of any mythical shortages.
STOP MAKING SHIT UP GAF.
GO BACK TO THREATENING WITH POKECRAP.
DS DOOMED.
