Hey there, FYI, "World Series of Poker" is being published by Activision, not Atari - want to make sure you're giving props where props are do. ;) PS: The game rocks, far better than last years!

Trauma Center is Atlus, too. Just seeing it under the name "EA" makes me cringe.

Seems to me to be a pretty impressive list of launch window titles. I'm happy to see decent 3rd Party support from the get go.

I seriously haven't been this excited about a video game product since Super Mario 3. Nintnedo needs to make The Wizard 2 before wii comes out to capitalize on this feeling.

I didn't care about Wii sports at all but now that I know I can make all the characters in the game from scratch, it's going to rule!

I'm curious which games will require the nunchuk add-on. You would think that a golf game like Tiger Woods would just need the regular Wiimote. I really hope that you get to swing the controller like an actual golf club in that one. None of that flick of the wrist shit please. It's not like swinging a Wiimote once every 2-3 minutes will make you tired.

Rampage: Total Destruction better be designed to have me standing the the middle of the room in front of the TV with a Wii-Remote in each hand, one gripped between my teeth (breath weapon) and another duct-taped to my ass (for building smashing tail-action). I don't care how dumb I look, that would kick-ass.

I would have never guessed that this Nintendo announcement would only raise more questions, doubts, and disappointments in my head....but it did. And I consider myself a Nintendo fan...and I was (still...kinda) excited. But now...so here's my couple of thoughts

- $60 for a 2nd controller...kinda lame.

- I thought they capped the price at $250 like 3 months ago, why wait to announce that the cap was the real price! I can see waiting to decide what would come packaged but c'mon

- Component cables come in the box? Available on launch day? Price?

- So games that yesterday were called 'lauch' titles aren't necessarily launch titles anymore?

- The way I look at it the only thing announed today was Wii Sports is bundled and the Wii Channels. That's cool, but def. not worth the hype going into this event. Ugh. At least I have my 360.

FYI, you're missing an italics close tag.

And you got a bit of a mistake in the listing.
1) World Series of Poker is from Activision
2) DBZ is from Atari
3) Trauma Center is from Atlus

It's worth noting that Ubisoft has ANOTHER title for the Wii launch window (Nov.19-March 31st): TMNT.
Ubi really loves Nintendo now, huh?

DaveWonders, the Wiimotes are more expensive than typical remotes because the Wii's tech is spread out throughout the console and the controllers. It's almost as important a piece of tech as the console itself.

For how much Nintendo insisted on the importance of innovation, there's an awful lot of sequels and licensed titles in that list...

#3 to Damien LOL...I feel ya on that one! These browswers on the pc get paid for by advertising. So hopefully this browswer(which Nentindo does not own) will not have so many adds. Smart that they released this list and more importantly had these games! Because there last stigma was n64 two games for months! Then Gamecube started a little slow. This time that have a VERY impressive launch. Now we will see if the games matter as much as the hype.

DaveWonders (#15), the Japanese press release says "AV Cables"--JOY OF JOYS!--and wii.com says it will use a "multi-out" system, so 99% it will have the same plug as GCN/N64/SNES. So you should probably go ahead and buy another S-video or component set from your favorite manufacturer.

Im a little disappointed in the games that they are releasing… there seems to be a lot of kiddie oriented games…. aside for Zelda, metroid prime and a few other titles not much on that list interested me very much. Also I doubt we will see wiimote functionality in every single game being released especially games like splinter cell. The price was a bit of a let down, I was really hoping for 200$ US price point.

Aside from some of the first party games, I can't say there's anything on this list that I'm dying to play. Not to whine, but this list is almost entirely licensed crap, ports, and sequels.

I don't see this list reeling in all those coveted "potential" players outside the industry that Nintendo keeps referring to.

Here's to hoping for the future.

Thanks FSK. So any already existing multi-out to component cable for GC will work? Sweet. And to funkonaut I understand the tech involved with the Wiimote, it's just disappointing. I thought the whole point was Wii, as in 2 people playing, and all the multiplayer games...and come to find out that makes the console $310. And in my previous post I forgot to mention that it's also lame that the Opera browser isn't standard. And even if that doesn't annoy you much why didn't they announce a price? They gave prices for VC games. Again, just raising more questions in my head.

Mustafa, I could be mixing things up in my head, but i just assumed that Opera was bundled, like you turn on your Wii and day 1, its there. They could have said all along from the beginning it would cost money. I would have accepted it, you have to buy it for the DS. But I think somewhere either Nintendo or news sites misled us to assume it was bundled. Am I alone on that?

At #26 - Always had to pay for Opera? What the hell dude, have you ever even been to the opera site, used it or even know what the logo for it is? Opera has been made free, I know this and I don't even care for the opera browser.

I can see though why they charge again, they can't just port it over. They had to actually put forth and effort and time to develope the browser for the Wii and use its controller/work with the overall feel of the Wii.

The price for the Wii is a bit of a disappointment with the price of the controller being so high. I wouldn't mind paying that price for the controller if the Wii was at $199.99 and wouldn't mind the controller price if it was lower with the Wii at $249.99. If they would have left it at $199.99 like they do traditionally it would have attracted more non gamers then they could have hid the cost in the extra controllers.

I agree with Anticrawl, the dissapointment isn't really the price its the price coupled with the fact that the extra controller will cost so much and the game they bundled with the system will be most fun with another player/controller or three. I understand that the tech in the controller is making it pricey but lower the price of the console so that we would want to pay $120 for 3 more wiimotes.

For all of you who continue to gripe over the price, be real. The XBOX 360 and PS3 both cost more than the Wii with an extra controller and a game. What is the big deal? The PSP and its games retail at the same price as the Wii and its games. If that isn't enough of a point to quiet you, then you should quit life.

I'm sorry, but I'd rather purchase a Wii, a few games, and an extra controller set for the price of the 360 and the PS3 after taxes.

Let's be real about this. No offense, just think about it from all of the angles. The controller being a few dollars more than you thought does nothing to the overall price tag of a great Wii bundle. You'll have a hand full of games and a handfull of controllers for the price of the competitor's base console.

Let's play some games.

Dude, if you want to run Opera, go to a rummage sale and buy an old Dell or E Machines for $5 and get the free version of opera. Or get Firefox. I've got 2 or three junkers around here that can do that, but I can't even get someone to haul them away.
Why do people want silly unrelated functions in every product? I spent my whole life trying to get AWAY from the el-giganto, 300 pound walnut console with the TV, stereo, disc player (OK, record changer, now I'm dated...) all tied together so the whole thing was junk as soon as one part failed or went obsolete.
Game machines (and especially THIS one) should be concentrating on doing the game function better and quit trying to masquerade as a multi-function PC replacements. There are too many old PCs lying around for next to nothing.
BTW I bought an Atari 2600 when it listed for $249.95 and the full range of extra controllers (joystick, paddle and "racing") was well over $100 more. Using cheap cars in each era as a baseline that's at least $1000 in today's money.

Opera is free until June 2006.

"Internet Channel
Go here to access the Opera internet browser. In addition to supporting flash (making this a step up from the DS browser), the browser uses the Wiimote to zoom in and out. The browser will normally cost money, but Nintendo will make it available for free download until June of 2006."

I don't understand why people are so upset about the controller. It's not that much more expensive than a wireless xbox360 controller. And on top of that, if you take care of it, you'll have it for a LEAST a couple years before having to buy a new one. So $60 for two player isn't horrible. You'll have dropped WAY more money on games by the time you'll have to replace a controller.

Re: Opera. You don't pay money for it, you pay "points". So, how do you get points? One way is to pay money for them, sure, but I'd bet you can earn them in other ways; say, a voucher for 5-10 points packed with every new game. If you've ever bought a new Nintendo game, you know it comes with a registration code you can punch into Nintendo.com for free extras, so they already have experience with that sort of thing. If that's the case, then buying 2 or 3 games should earn you an Opera browser at no additional charge.
