Wow, the Dire Dire Docks rendition is really well put together.

The only one worth watching was the third one. And I must say that it was very well played. Although production values were'nt that great :p
Triscuit @ Sep 15th 2006 7:42PM
Look at all the non-geeks that know what they're playing! Wait, what's that? They're all geeks you say? Oh, well then, that just goes to show that my powers of observation must be off. Either that or reading that previous article on non-geeks has made all geeks non-geeks.

That last video is simply awsome. Not least because someone finally got a decent audio track onto youtube, instead of the horribly clipped sound we usually get.
darryl @ Sep 15th 2006 4:27PM
Lamest controller ever. Seriously, look at that thing! My hands cramp just looking at it.
Endless Mike @ Sep 15th 2006 4:39PM
the repeating Super Mario text in the image is aligned almost exactly to my scroll wheel interval.
it's faaaar out, man
Galls @ Sep 15th 2006 4:43PM
fellas, does anyone else find it to be bull that people will buy the same games they bought 10 years ago and many had bought again for handhelds like the DS and GBA?
Nintendo is the worst company when it comes to double dipping. I still have my star fox and mario 64 catridges but the only way to play them on this system is to buy them all over again?
Personally I think this is no better than if Microsoft decided to charge for backwards compatability.
Ndric @ Sep 15th 2006 6:00PM
Galls, you can always use.. oh you know.. your N64?
Rootbeer @ Sep 15th 2006 5:04PM
The teaser for the first video made me think of the song "Human Video Game" by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, which was 100 times better than the actual video was. At least Will Smith didn't labor under the misconception that Pauline is a princess of something.
Trumpet boy needs to invest in a metronome... and a shirt.
I have nothing bad to say about the third one at least. It is the promise of YouTube fully realized. Passable-quality homemade video footage of talented people.
Covarr @ Sep 15th 2006 5:08PM
Why do people insist on going off topic in these comments? This post is about MUSIC.
Galls, while I understand your point, it would be bad business to give games away for free, and they have no way of determining who had the originals and giving it to only them and charging everybody else.
Dracula Jones @ Sep 15th 2006 5:13PM
#6: Yeah, that's what the Wii is missing, cartridge slots of various sizes strewn about its visage.
Or maybe you just got that rare NES with optical disc drive. In which case, yeah, you should be able to use all your old games. Duh.

If you like that third video by the One Up Mushrooms, check out their website at http://www.oneupstudios.com/ The band broke up, but there's still lot of tracks for download, and their Volume 1 album is really awesome!
J B Cougar @ Sep 15th 2006 5:25PM
Lets see... we have a Donkey Kong beat box thing. Pretty original, nothing special. Then some muted trumpet. Very high school musical, but ok. And the third one, just great. And, oh, what's this? A completely misplaced, out of left field diatribe from Galls that has nothing to do with the post.
Yup, chalk it up as another successful day in the Joystiq comment section!
Hmm, I'm sensing something is missing though... darryl? You here man? Oh, sorry I missed ya mate! You're right there, doing your usual thing that no one really listens to anymore.
Wedge @ Sep 15th 2006 5:28PM
OMFG IT'S THE ONEUPS!
Too bad their albums is out of stock now and the OneUp Studios is no more =/. I really hope Volume 2 of their work comes out somehow someday (including tracks like this).
darryl @ Sep 15th 2006 5:39PM
"You're right there, doing your usual thing that no one really listens to anymore."
You do.
rockintom99 @ Sep 15th 2006 6:46PM
Galls: No, that would be stupid. The equivalent is of wii doing back copatibility with the GAMECUBE. Which it does. Fully. For free.
The added n64, snes, nes, etc, are above and beyond. Plus, there will be new games.
Chris @ Sep 15th 2006 10:52PM
SKA FTW!!!!!!!
shivr @ Sep 16th 2006 1:00AM
ahh, dire dire is great. The mario games have some really addictive tunes OTHER than the main themes which I wish people would play more...
Five Element Ninja @ Sep 16th 2006 2:32AM
ah, the trumpet video takes me back to my high school days when I'd play Kefka's theme (from FFVI) and the Donkey Kong Country theme on my trumpet. I can still remember how to play them today, despite it being about 7 years since I graduated high school. good times :)
