Psychonauts picks up Steam in October

The price has yet to be revealed. Psychonauts publisher Majesco has also announced that Bloodrayne 1 & 2 and Advent Rising will be available for Steam starting today. The original Bloodrayne will be $10, while the other two titles are $20 apiece.
Tim Schafer et al. are currently working on another project, as-of-yet unannounced, to be published by Sierra.

Underrated? I believe you mean "overlooked".
radjago @ Sep 15th 2006 4:44PM
I don't see people buying Bloodrayne or Advent Rising just because they're on Steam, especially at those prices.

This is great news... Psychonauts has to be one of my favorite few games of all time (System Shock 2, Quake 2 and Panzer General 2 are right there too).
Hopefully this will generate some sales and keep getting innovative and intelligent games like this made.

I just bought Advent Rising (PC) on amazon for 8 dollars shipped :/.

Steam is a great utility. It's coming to the point where I never have to leave my ergonomically designed chair and face that entity known as 'The Sun' (its trying to kill me) to purchase my video games.
Woot!
Let's hope the other Advent games will be following soon.

Too little too late. I've already aquired this game through....not legal methods, so to speak, and I'm sure many others have also.
KingOfGods @ Sep 15th 2006 5:14PM
I dind't know Advent Rising was on Steam......I enjoyed that game on Xbox.
diskoboy @ Sep 15th 2006 5:16PM
I just bought a boxed PC copy a few days ago for $9.
But the good news is it might get a second chance on Steam. This is probably the best platformer since Rayman 2.

Is it out on GC yet?

I love Steam, but the prices of these games are way too high. Shouldn't we be saving some money because of the fact that it's digitally distributed?
Gerwurztraminer @ Sep 15th 2006 5:30PM
I feel ashamed. I purchased a used copy from EB Games. Love the game though!

Thats awesome! I'll be definitely buying.
Chessasaur @ Sep 15th 2006 5:54PM
They overpriced Bloodrayne 2. Not because it's a bad game (what I've played is ok), but the PC version was free with the DVD and the console versions are selling for $19.99. I thought digital dist was supposed to save us money (or was it just make more money for them?)
TeddyN @ Sep 15th 2006 5:56PM
This is amazing news. I never bought Psychonaughts because it was never easily available to me. When I was in Russia, I bought it but most games over there are pirated and I felt guilty enjoying it since I was exploiting those that put time, effort and imagination into it. Now that it's on steam, I will gladly buy it.
I'm actually disappointed by the inclusion of Bloodrayne though, because I thought steam was heading in the direction of sticking only to quality or underappreciated games when they brought in other developpers titles. Bloodrayne, meanwhile, seems overrated and of poor quality.
dc @ Sep 15th 2006 6:39PM
Chess, not only is Bloodrayne 2 free on the dvd, but the dvd retails for as little as $3 (according to price grabber). So far what Steam's charging, you'd better get the movie, the first game, and an oversized nude poster of Kristanna Loken.

"This game is pure crap.. only Xbox Fanboys consider this good because they does not have great plattformers like Ratchet & Clank and Jak."
Ah, you played the fugly PS2 version. Besides, it's a frickin' Tim Schafer game. There's more than just XBox fanboys who still admire him.

When oh when will Psychonauts be backwards compatible?
My original xbox broke down about 10% in, and I purchased a 360 thinking I would be playing my favorite games soon enough.
Oh, Destroy All Humans and Mercenaries would be nice too.
Merus @ Sep 16th 2006 1:33AM
I was actually embarrassed for Jak II. It's not a very good game.
Psychonauts needed something like this - to be available for long enough for word of mouth to build. The Velvetopia level is one of the most masterful game spaces I've ever tooled around in. The only problem with Psychonauts is that it's a game with two halves that don't mesh well - if you can get past the good but not great summer camp sequence, you'll really enjoy it.

It's never too late to do the right thing and pony up the dough, and now it's even easer for you to do so.
It's heartening that TeddyN gets it...

Boy,it would be awesome to play Psychonauts on my Xbox 360 one of these days. I bought the game almost 5 months ago and have yet to even see the game.
