"Actually the PS3 is the superior system. The processors alone beat the Xbox 360... And Metal Gear Solid 4 and Lair both beat Gears of Wars in graphic terms... In the end, graphics aren't the only thing that is important. The PS3 can process much more then the 360."

One HUGE thing to keep in mind.. People say "the PS3 is coming out later, it's got newer technology." Actually, the Cell was made not just for the ps3, but also for multiprocessor servers doing research calculations. the xenon (360) was made SPECIFICALLY to play games with. And, both chips were engineered at roughly the SAME TIME!! It's just taken sony longer to release their system because of their Blu-Ray.

now a question.
What makes the cell that much better than the xenon?? From a technical point, the 360's xenon is probably a better processor for games. Don't get me wrong, the cell is a great processor for things like medical calculations, and things that need a crap ton of floating point calculations. But, when we're talking about other things, such as branch prediction, the general purpose cores of the xenon are better than the spes in the cell. If someone will say, "but the cell has 7 spe's" well, the 360 has 3 cores with 2 threads each. if 1 of the 7 spe's is reserved for the OS, that's 6 threads as well. (not counting the general purpose core, which is pretty much there to just keep the spes in line.) So, we've got 6 specific threads, vs. 6 general threads. Each processor has their strengths and weaknesses. I would imagine that programmers using the architectures correctly could create equally amazing things with both systems. As you said though, the game is not just about graphics, but also the physics, the AI, and the sound.
