New XBLA franchise in the next two weeks

XBLArcade managed to notice a snippet from yesterday's press release that completely slipped our Sauron-like gaze. From the release:

"In total, more than 100 pieces of new downloadable content will be available during the nine day period, including a never before announced major franchise on Xbox Live Arcade."

Major franchise, would we? The possibilities addle our brains, but we can't help but speculate. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Mega Man? Bomberman? It could be anything, and your guess is as good as ours. We can only hope that this is a real arcade classic, or, better yet, an entirely original franchise for XBLA (something episodic perhaps?). Anyone care to make a guess? If anyone gets it right, we'll be sure to drop his/her name when the game is officially announced.

One of the classic FPSs. Maybe Doom 1/2 or marathon?

My other guess is a sonic game from sega. I'd love to have sonic 1/2/3 on XBLA.

We definitely need some up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right-B-A-B-A-start (Contra) action on XBLA.

It's going to have to be something appropriate to Japan.

I'm hoping that it's going to be a shooter from Treasure.

Definitely a Sega Property... dare I say... Sonic the Hedgehog!

If they brought the Ikaruga series (developed by Treasure i believe?) to live arcade, phew-whee, man, that would be the best thing to come out of TGS for me...

Since the announcement could be made at X06 as well, I'll go the longshot route and say Sam & Max. Besides, both Contra and Sonic have already been announced at E306.

Sonic and Contra have been announced already. Can't come up with a proper guess myself, though. Strider?

Mortal Kombat is my guess.

I wish it were 3dRealms with Duke Nukem and a mix of other great oldschool titles or Team 17 with Worms, Lemmings, and others...unlikely though.

Mortal Kombat was already announced as a possibility, but it could be...Something with a series fellas...Sonic or dream for bond(drool...) with its rare license or..maybe its a racing series...or double dragon series or gradius series

Starcraft: Ghost

I would fall out of my chair if Starcraft Ghost came out for XBLA

Final Fantasy. There were rumors around this year's E3 that many platforms would be getting FFXIII spin-offs, including mobile platforms and even Xbox 360. People speculated that the Xbox 360 game would be an XBLA release.

Sonic for the XBLA has already been announced.

Crashing Castles I think, maybe they have it ready early??!

I'm hoping for Rare's Donkey Kong series athough that seems very unlikely. However they are not listed in the Nintendo Virtual Console...

Wow... You Don't Know Jack would be an AWESOME XBLA release - as long as Microsoft could refrain from nickel and diming us to death. Few things are more fun than getting a few friends together for YDKJ in front of the big screen. This was a game much more suited for a console rather than a PC. Crowding 'round the PC monitor just isn't as fun.
