The Sims 2, Ranked #54 on Metacritic for PC games. The Mac's best.

So what's your point, Lorben? You don't mention the metascore - which is 90 - so it's obviously not a bad PC game.

And there were other top PC games that came out on the Mac over the past year, like Civ4 and Quake 4. I'm surprised Civ 4 didn't at least get runner-up.

Also, at the same time Sims 2 wins *only* Mac game award.

Just remember, kids, Halo was originally a Mac game, too.

Give me a confrontational hug Darryl!

Never was a fan of The Sims. But know whats funny? I'm going to buy a new 24" iMac in a few days just so I can play HL2. IM BUYING A MAC TO PLAY GAMES OMG ITS A PARADOX OR SOME SHIT

And I can't wait. The iMac range beats the living shit out of my desktop PC (9600pro, Pentium 4, 512mb etcetcetc).

Oh boy.

I smell a Mac VS. PC flame war coming on. Or is that Mac's high priced smug B.O. and PC's low immunity to everything?

Jay -

There exists a mac that could play games better than a PC using specs from 2001/2?

What?!? No way. I am so shocked. Apparently if they can catch the 9600pro, those Macs can do anything!

Assuming your P4 is at least 1.2Ghz (which almost all of them are) you can play HL2 on your current computer.

Oh I am playing. But my 9600 stutters in HDR. It runs on the native 1680*1050 resolution of my monitor which is nice. but from what I've seen achieved by a X1600 and HL2 then I'll finally be able to up the AA to whatever number I please.

Can't wait!

Oh and socrates - Why are you being confrontational? I'm curious to why? I just said I'm buying a new Mac that runs faster than my 3 year old PC, it's a bit of an obvious statement that it will be faster. PLEASE point out where I claimed it was the be-all end-all super computer of the world, or at least HINTED at that? Come on, I'm waiting... look! we're too late! My comments were localised to the computers I own.

Oh and about Macs costing more; could some rather intelligent chap, so I'm sorry but that instantly discounts the majority of people who have posted in here already, to explain why a Shuttle PC with the same specs as an iMac costs the same, but without a keyboard, mouse or monitor and a much smaller HDD? See, I really don't understand this "Mac costs more" thing. They cost the same, or less in Shuttles and Sonys case as their spec for spec counterparts as quality brand PC makes.

Based off Apple’s site, iMacs come with the option of a Nvidia 7300GT or a 7600GT. No option for a x1600 While the 7600GT is a very respectable card and better than a x1600, make sure you don't get the 7300. It's actually weaker than your 9600PRO because the 7300 only has a 64bit interface. The 9600PRO, 7600GT and x1600 have 128bit.

The thing about Shuttle’s and Sony’s is that they charge too much. You can, however, get a Dell for $1600 with a 24’ LCD, keyboard and mouse with the same specs as a $2000 iMac.

However I believe what most people are thinking when they say Macs cost more is the entry price. You can get a desktop for under $500 if you know where to look. iMacs start at $1000.

*sigh*

Anway, The real point I was making was the flame war in general. That is the crap I hear from both sides. "MACS COST TOO MUCH" "PCs ARE FULL OF SPYWARE"

Yawn.

Let's just place these apples beside these oranges, no one will notice.

Oh wait, they ARE different. Most 'entry level' PCs also have no monitor or video card, but an integrated graphics chip. Oh wait, what's this? Apple makes one of those too? Pray tell, what is it? A Mac Mini? and they cost $500? say it aint so!

like seriously. Pack in what an iMac has and you'll find roughly the same PC for roughly the same price. And don't bring your "new egg" do-it-yourself bullshit here, since most consumers dont do that.

I encourage everyone to join us here in 2006, where Macs aren't that much more than PCs and they run Windows too, so of course this can mean that you can call this, the number 54 game from Metacritic, too.

Shame you aren't running it on your Mac, though, because apparently it's a far better "#1 game" on OSX. I'm just kidding. My gaming PC isn't even hooked up since I got my 360. I'm missing BF2 (yeah I have it for the 360 but it's only a pale imitation) but I got a lot of work to do right now - on my Macs.

A $500 PC includes a LCD screen, a keyboard and mouse. You can get just a tower for around $250-$300. The mac mini is over $1,300 if you add in Apple's cheapest LCD and wired mouse and keyboard set. This makes the low end $1,000 iMac the cheapest Mac you can actually use because it comes with a mouse and keyboard and has an LCD built in. (go through the ordering process on Apple's site and check it out)

And no, this has nothing to do with Newegg because for a basic PC, it's incredibly difficult to build them for as cheap as Dell or HP sells them. A gaming PC is something different entirely.

I apologize for taking this thread so off course. The Sims 2 is not a bad game. However it struck me as odd being named the best game on the Mac because it's not a game that pops into my head when I think of the best games ever made.
