Three-tiered Mario mushroom cake amazes
This incredible three-tiered Mario-themed wedding cake was the big surprise at Brent Gustafson's wedding. His bride-to-be planned the cake, keeping it a secret until just before its unveiling. The entire creation -- short of the cake toppers -- was entirely edible. That means piranha plants, mushroom, everything. While the cake toppers weren't edible, they weren't easy to come by. They're part of the "Mario Family" series from Club Nintendo in Japan, only available by redeeming points from Japanese Nintendo products. If they knew about our Gears of War contest, we're pretty sure the cake's Flickr entry would take the, uh ... you know.

Gateaux, the company that actually made the cake after it was designed, has some incredible stuff on their website!

That is one amazing cake.

That cake is incredible. I love how vibrant it is and how they have integrated so much from Mario. The mushroom coming up out of a warp pipe is just too good. If you follow Blinks link to the website you will be amazed. I never knew cakes could look so good. Some of them are beyond amazing :0

How can you cut into such a thing? I would feel terrible for destroying it.
I'm sure the groom exclaimed, "I'm sorry folks, but there will be no cake-eating today."
To which his wife replied, "Let them eat cake."
And then he had her crazy head chopped off.

I would not allow my so called "guests" to taste this cake.
I'd also wear the "Fiery" Mario suit (White and Red FTW!) and ask my bride to wear Peach's dress.
Then there'd be Mario Bros music playing in the background...
Ah the joys of being single can only be beaten by such a wedding...

cringer8, oh I doubt it would go like that since the wife planned out the cake to begin with. Either they are both gamers, or he is and she did it for him. Whichever way it was, it's awesomeness on her part.

Darnit, you made me think it was Jet Set Radio themed. ;_;
They're still good eitherways... If you were to design a game-themed cake, what would you design it of?

Wow, what an awesome cake; probably the coolest I've ever seen. Congratulations on the wedding and once again, having a Super Mario Bros. themed cake is just too cool.

Nice! I hope the mushroom still tastes good when they eat it a year from now... :)

Forget the cake. That bride/wife is a good find. Going out of her way for the figurines and all. Kudos to you, Annette.

Well, I was just going for a bad Marie Antoinette joke there...emphasis on "bad."
Crash and burn.

Now that is definetly the cake I'd love to have my groom get for me. I had no idea something that awesome could be edible! :-P

Wow is anyone a adult anymore or is the enitre late 20's/early 30's still waddiling in suspended adolecense? Christ we all love video games,I know, but you can't put the f'n toys down long enough to get
married? I attended a friends wedding about a year ago and I would of died with embarrasment if I saw something like this.
Mario wedding cake....yeah because exchanging vows in Mario and Peach costumes would of been tacky (sarcasm)
