FIFA 360 deserves red card, EA gyps again

That's freakin' outrageous. So much for next gen. Ugh.

I find it funny that people are suggesting Winning Eleven / Pro Evo from Konami is going to force EA to clean up it's act in terms of leaving teams and leagues out of FIFA 07. Winning Eleven has always had far fewer teams and leagues than FIFA. And I'm a Winning Eleven fan.

The simple fact is that on the current gen systems, most of those leagues will be full of generic-looking players and stadia. On 360, EA is aiming to recreate players far more accurately, and I think would rather have a few leagues recreated in a lot of detail than many leagues with mostly generic players.

And, to be honest, those leagues that were omitted were likely never to be touched by most FIFA owners anyway.

As an actual gypsy, I am not offended at the use. That being said, I know a couple people that would be very offended. I also find it amusing that there is a whole generation of people that probably thing gypsies are some made up distinction to put in Disney cartoons. We are a semetic race, same as the Jews and Arabs. Biggest different is that during WW2 we were essentially cast to the wind as about 80-90% of all European Gypsies were killed. (Depending on who you ask). Thankfully my relatives lived in America at the time, regardless of vc's statement to the contrary. Heck, the last anti-gypsy laws in America were revoked as late as the 1990s.

Gyps is a derogatory term in most cases...not really appropriate. Screws is a great alternative :)

I believe that it is due to the development teams. My two cents. EA already has teams dedicated to making their franchises for PS2 and XBOX and thus the robust feature set these titles have, being that they are add ons built up year after year.

To make something truly next-gen, i think they are building from the ground up. Yes some assets and sensibilities transfer over, but there's still alot of work to ensure that the title does look significantly better than it's counterparts. These aren't ports, they are truly different.

Case in point the Madden Franchise. While the current gen game is packed with features and runs at a pretty high frames per second, the 360 version has less features and tops out at 30 frames. Why? Because there is more work involved in creating a new game from the ground up and deadlines require things to be cut.

Now XBOX Live and other online (Patches) etc offer the ability to release a game and fix it later. This has gone on with the PC for eons. There's one big problem though. What about the kid that doesn't have broadband? They are stuck playing an inferior version of the game. Boo!

But i wouldn't be so quick to Bash EA, they are transistioning to the next gen. It's better than a few years ago when there WAS NO EA Sports on XBOX.

I'd rather see a company like EA produce one fully developed soccer game every few years rather than a half-baked (albeit a gorgeous one) game every year.

Anyone find it funny that the 360 version doesn't have the MLS, yet they have Donovan pictured in an MLS team's jersey?

I would like to see EA spend less time on cramming their sports games with music and other useless "fluff" and spend more time actually making a complete sports game. Madden 07 for the 360 is missing features and buggy as hell and it was really annoying to see the developers do interview after interview leading up to release when they should have been cleaning up the game. I think EA needs to "man up" and delay sports titles until they are at a high quality level, even if that means skipping a season. With Xbox Live and Sony's upcoming online service they could easily just issue roster/team/rules updates and just release a new version every other season.

Day of the release for XBOX..

Thanks to this site I will be breaking out my old XBOX and using my down payment on the 360 version toward the current gen.

Also why the hell is everyone talking about some dudes objection to the word Gyp. The hell with him and all PC BS.
