Guitar Hero coming to multiple new platforms
According to Eurogamer, Activision CEO Robert Kotick let it drop at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia XV Conference (that's a mouthful) that Guitar Hero would appear "on every significant new format." We can only guess this means whammy-barring on the Xbox 360 is pretty much confirmed, with Gamestation employees hearing earlier this week that they will be getting Guitar Hero II for that console in early 2007.
With the Wii, DS, PSP and PS3 being significant new formats, chances are you might be able to jam just about anywhere.

Super sweetness. I have a PS2 but I'll be damned before I get a PS3. This ensures I can GH3 it up on my platform of better choice.
Wreckhart @ Sep 20th 2006 4:58PM
I wanna rock....
Novacharged @ Sep 20th 2006 8:57PM
that girl is hot.
AP @ Sep 20th 2006 4:58PM
Is she the new peripheral?
Seroth @ Sep 20th 2006 4:58PM
Good news for everyone! I was afraid that I'd have to buy a PS3 just to play anything beyond Guitar Hero 2.
...though I guess this means I'll have to buy another Guitar Controller for the Wii or 360. Oh well. :P
rockintom99 @ Sep 20th 2006 5:01PM
AP: Don't objectify women... Though that would be a pretty nice add on ;)
Evil Closet Monkey @ Sep 20th 2006 6:09PM
... and ... queue the 8-year old comments about the women in the picture, thinking they are at all original or remotely funny.
iTard @ Sep 20th 2006 5:03PM
And another Playstation exclusive goes down the toilet.
Remind me, what reason do I have to buy a PS3 when the more expensive 360 costs $100 less than the CHEAPER PS3 and has all the same games plus Gears and oblivion and Halo and Dead Rising and Lost planet?
Especially now that 360 is already capable of "true HD" 1080p graphics for sometime in the future (2-4 years) when those sets become common.
greatn @ Sep 20th 2006 5:02PM
Wii Guitar Hero would be awesome.
Also, the Guitar peripheral would be cheaper to make, one would think. You would plug the Wii in the front somewhere, and let it handle the accelerometers, wireless transmission, and power the thing. The peripheral itself would just need the frets, strum bar and whammy bar.
Hell, maybe they could even use that speaker for something.
I was really about to buckle and buy a PS2 for this series, I'm so glad it will be on other systems.
niindre @ Sep 20th 2006 5:47PM
Wow, Sony gets nuked again.
Deeznuts420 @ Sep 20th 2006 5:13PM
Who's the HOTTIE rockin' the Guitar????
Double J @ Sep 20th 2006 5:16PM
Guitar Hero DS would be something to beholde. I'm picture that Wario Ware Touched mini game where you pluck the strings with your stylus.
Dustin @ Sep 20th 2006 5:27PM
Yes! I was going to buy GH for the PS2 the other day, but decided not to. It is having issues playing games. I can't wait to rock out on the 360.
vaylen @ Sep 20th 2006 5:31PM
hahah Soney fanboyz. Take that! You got owned. I can now play guitar hero on my 360. Also gren theft auto. Soon metal geer and final fantasy will be 360. Steve Ballmer is my God and Soney is sorry loosers.
crono141 @ Sep 20th 2006 5:41PM
You know the guitar controller, that costs, like, 40 dollars.
yeah, I've had that thing apart. It costs them MAYBE 5 bucks to make, as it is now. They only charge you 40 dollars for it because they CAN!
fwacce @ Sep 20th 2006 5:51PM
"hahah Soney fanboyz. Take that! You got owned. I can now play guitar hero on my 360. Also gren theft auto. Soon metal geer and final fantasy will be 360. Steve Ballmer is my God and Soney is sorry loosers."
Quoting this as the posterboy for Xbox fanboys. Your side is so lucky to have him.
Linkman2004 @ Sep 20th 2006 6:50PM
Dude, I seriously hope it comes to the Wii. As greatn said, the Wii-mote would be able to handle the wireless functionality and the tilt action for star-power. Man, that would rock! Although it still rocks on the PS2. :)
KilgoreTrout XL @ Sep 20th 2006 5:52PM
Great news for Xbox Live!
jabbertrack @ Sep 20th 2006 6:45PM
Obvious questions surround the controller issue.
epobirs @ Sep 20th 2006 6:08PM
For the DS and PSP they should make a stand that attaches to the guitar, kind of like the harmonica holder Bob Dylan used to perform with. It would limit the flailing since you'd need to hold still enough to keep the screen in view but it could work.
OTOH, if they used the tilt sensor from some existing GBA/DS games, they could make the flailing part of the game.
daniel @ Sep 20th 2006 6:11PM
thats not a very good publicity picture she doesnt look like shes having any fun at all
Grim @ Sep 20th 2006 6:10PM
I'm really hoping for more music in the marketplace as well. They really need to integrate the user's music into the game -- then we would have a game of the year candidate.
heavyness @ Sep 20th 2006 6:19PM
Guitar Hero 2 on the 360 all the way!
wireless guitars to throw up in the air, the ability to dl more music packs down the road, and leaderboards to tell me just how bad i am at playing fake guitar! can't wait.
John Musco @ Sep 20th 2006 6:23PM

I don't know what amuses me more, the girl gamer lines I read in Joystiq or the asian HDTV display girl lines read in Engadget. =P
Will @ Sep 20th 2006 6:45PM
How the hell would you play guitar hero on DS or PSP?
And this was never a sony "exclusive" it just happened to be released on PS2 only the first time around. And it was never announced for PS3 so stop sounding like idiots when you say "SONY LOSES ANOTHER EXCLUSIVE LOL" when it was coming to PS2. And last I checked PS2 was winning the console war...
randomshagz @ Sep 20th 2006 9:22PM
Dude thats my sister!
Guitar Hero on 360 will be cool.
Sucks I have to buy the Guitar since I own the PS2 one already. I cant say no to the XBL, so oh well.
LaughingTarget @ Sep 20th 2006 7:09PM
Fanboys make kittens and babies cry.
ominojacu @ Sep 20th 2006 7:33PM
The wii version could be the only original version btw,. that is if they use 2 remotes as drumsticks just like in the drumming tech demo it could be the only version that has all the parts for a full rock out !! rhythm, bass lead and percusion!
CP229 @ Sep 20th 2006 8:05PM
Every time you make a fonboy comment god kills a kitten.
Now on task, I'm glad this is coming to other consoles
as this is going to be a great game. When they said "multiple new platforms" that means wii too right? because I don't wan't it to come just for PS3 and Xbox and the wii not getting shafted and not being able to do the many awsome things it could with the controller.
kilodelta @ Sep 20th 2006 8:14PM
since when did the PSP become a significant platform?
KaneRobot @ Sep 20th 2006 8:21PM
Now all you "IT'S NEVER COMING OUT ON 360!" freaks can finally shut the hell up. Told you.
truegamer44 @ Sep 21st 2006 6:17PM
Even though I have a PS2, there's no way I'm getting a PS3. Wii60! And I still don't understand why her guitar goes green red yellow ORANGE BLUE...
Daniel @ Sep 20th 2006 8:52PM
"... and ... queue the 8-year old comments about the women in the picture, thinking they are at all original or remotely funny."
I think the word you're looking for is cue. hopefully you're only 8 years old yourself...
Daniel @ Sep 20th 2006 9:10PM
you guys really think that chick's hot?
she looks kinda trailer trashy to me...
Shagi @ Sep 20th 2006 11:58PM
Looks sorta like Liz Phair.
Babylonian @ Sep 21st 2006 12:09AM
What the hell? This picture is taken from Kevin Pereira's blog. This is one of his friends.
Weird.
Mikeawesome @ Sep 21st 2006 10:41AM
Actually, "queue" and "cue" are the same things, and, technically, "queue" is the proper word.
Here's what Websters has to say, I think it's fairly clear:
"Main Entry: 5cue
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): cued; cu·ing or cue·ing
transitive verb
1 : QUEUE
2 : to strike with a cue"
Jonn @ Sep 20th 2006 11:12PM
#2: I certainly hope so.
Coolwave @ Sep 21st 2006 1:26AM
I hope this means all my dreams will come true. I'm not a PS2 owner, but I am a huge Guitar Hero fan. I hope this makes it possible to buy more songs in the Wii Store channel or add a "Guitar Hero channel" w/ additional songs, or however it will work for the Wii. Of course for you 360 owners I am hoping for downloads for you too in the Xbox Live Marketplace.
Only makes sense to go to these consoles where people are going to be used to buying addons.
PS2 will be a huge seller this Xmas due to this game and I personally would love to see a sweet deal on a PS2 + Guitar Hero and controller combo!
Jack Coleman @ Sep 21st 2006 3:10AM
ok here wii fanboyism is still fanboyism and i have to argue with it.
how on earth would you play a guitar with that remote?? unless your willing to splash out another $40 on a controller
Wild Homes @ Sep 21st 2006 7:47AM
it's worth pointing out that it's still effectively a timed exclusive. I'm really happy it seems to be 360-bound, but let's not forget that this isn't an official confirmation, and the other versions are apparently targeting an early 2007 release.
kip @ Sep 21st 2006 10:19AM
"how on earth would you play a guitar with that remote?? unless your willing to splash out another $40 on a controller"
The idea is that the Wiimote would somehow attach to the guitar, using the expansion port the nunchuck attaches to. Then the guitar wouldn't need to have a tilt sensor or a wire, and theoretically could be cheaper.
As for the $40 thing, if you bought the game with a guitar it was only $70, so the guitar really only cost you $20, which doesn't seem bad.
I'm certainly hoping to see this on the Wii, because I don't have a PS2 and I'm not getting a PS3 and I'm not getting a 360 until the price drops. But I really want to play Guitar Hero.
John @ Sep 21st 2006 11:25AM
So far 14 comments out of 43 were about the girl. That's sad. It should be more like 43 out of 43.
Is it just me or do other guys have a major thing for frowny-girls?
ElGuapo82 @ Sep 21st 2006 12:57PM
That girl is a friend of Kevin P(from AOTS).
She was on his Moblog, weblog or MySpace or somthing.
I know I've seen her there before.
