@42 "This just shows how next-gen games are turning into massive, long, and expensive productions."

you know what? you are absolutely right. this is why i wonder if when the ps2 is fully dead, will these devs look for something cheaper than the ps3 but can still deliver like the ps2? i think the death of the ps2 will be the rebirth of the psp. think about it for a minute. games cost about the same to make on the psp, which will be cheap as dirt compared to the ps3 and 360. maybe the next surge in great games will be on psp and ds, since those are the places where companies can spend the least while still making a lot.

HOPEFULLY I will have a much better paying job by the time this comes out so I can afford a PS3. If not.. I'll just preorder MGS4 for whatever fun promotional stuff comes with it and wait (im)patiently for a price drop. XD Yeah, I know. $60+ for a game that'll drop in price a few months later... but I LOVE MGS's promotions. ^^;;

It doesn't look "bad", but it's also the first MGS4 trailer I've downloaded and watched.

Wasn't that supposed to blow me away or something?

Lmfao @ 8 (bv)

Yeah MGS4 coming out a year after PS3's launch is so horrible....and 360 is so much better...right? Yeah because 360's flagship game (Halo3) is going to be coming out a whole 3 years after the 360's launch!!!!!! lmao your ignorance amuses me.

Lmfao @ 52 (Cardboard Samurai)

It's not that MGS4 is coming out a year after the console's release that is bad, it's its timing relative to that of the 360's releases. While you're correct in that Halo 3 will be coming out far later in the console's life cycle, it really is irrelevant because, for much of that cycle, there hasn't been any next-gen competition. Now, Sony is forced to wait to fire one of its big guns at the same time Microsoft will launch their own. It's a missed opportunity by Sony to strike while the iron is hot and have an AAA killer app before Microsoft truly does.

I have to say that this kinda of what I expected out of actual gameplay.

The graphics while similiar have far fewer enemies less mobile animations and much more cramped enviroments that are not as dynamic as shown in the cut scenes.

I don't need a high def trailer to tell the grpahics engine is the same but that they scaled back the number of Mobile OBjects or MOB's in MMO speak for actual gameplay or to see that they limit geometry by using cramped quaters(which IMO is probably better for the gameplay).

This is of course a problem wiht most previews for Next gen games they show in game cut scenes with higher rez textures as actual gameplay and say this is "in game". the result is a similiar but not same experience during actual gameplay that usually leaves me dissappointed with the game itself.

Of course if the company is sony they just show CGI and call it "in game".

All I have to say is emergency epinephrine shots go in your thigh or your heart, needle needs to pierce your sternum. I know I have both types available, would be dumb as hell if you shot it up in your neck, kill you instantly. Now hospitals can administer it in different places but it's fucking insane to think you could use an epipen (I realize I'm using a brand name for a general item like band-aids) in your neck.

Where is your proof that Halo 3 will come out 3 years after the launch? "lmao" at your math skills...Halo 3 will be out by fall next year, guaranteed. That's 2 years by my count, so where is the ignorance again? And while your still laughing think about when Final Fantasy will drop on the PS3. That should be good for a few more laughs.

As for the comment that there is no current reason to buy a 360, why does it have to be for one game? Most people buy consoles for several games, and the promise of many games to come. However, to name some system sellers in my eyes: Oblivion, for one. It is the #28 highest rated videogame of all time according to gamerankings.com, a site that compiles reviews from every source available. So, gaming sites and the gaming community at large loves it. GRAW: 90.8% overall score. Do you realize how many games don't get anywhere near that kind of score? GRAW is an amazing game to most people, whether you agree with it or not. Call of Duty 2 is also over 90%. So, there are 3 reasons to buy a 360 right there, not to mention future titles such as Mass Effect, Gears, and Halo. I could care less that these games are on PC. I even have a PC that can handle them, but I just don't like gaming on my PC. I want to play games on my couch on an HD screen with a home theater stereo system.

umm, hideo kojima is no dummy and neither are konami or its shareholders. sony pushes back worldwide ps3 launch, hideo/konami pushes back mgs launch. there is no surprise with that. if sony flops, this game will be cross-platform. there is no story here...

The Intangible Fact:
"Have you even played Oblivion?"

no.

"It has a far deeper storyline and has 20 times the content of a FF game."

I heard about a large, immersive world with lots of miniquests, good NPC AI and a main quest which can be indefinetely delayed as you explore the world or something like that. Fair enough, The Elder Scrolls series is one of the longest-running and best examples of the genre.

I'd still pick FF's fast-paced turn-based combat and more linear and cinematic storyline any day.

"WE MIGHT BE STUPID BUT WE CAN KICK YOUR ASS!"

so said the neanderthal...

"Splinter Cell is a FPS???? Oblivion is a MMOPG???"

sorry! Oblivion is a MMORPG, except it's not online. And Splinter Cell is just another stealth-based 3rd-person Metal Gear Solid wannabe.

Well this game certainly looks like crap!

Try to make the graphics be more colorless Kojima.

Between this and Resistance, perhaps a hidden feature of the PS3 is a limitation to 64 colors?

Definitly doesn't look any better (if as good) as Splinter Cell 4.

Also I love how shitty, boring, and incredibly cliched the terrible B-movie Kojima storylines are. He would be considered such a joke if he wasn't exclusive to a Sony console.

That isn't even mentioning how incredibly queerass the Grandpa Snake guy is. What the fuck is up with his rubber pants?

This game is a laughingstock, only people ignore the jokes on them because it plays on the right box (PS3).

If this was on 360 instead, the derision of this game would be never ending (and rightfully so).

Shitty shitty, shitty.

And it looks so boring to boot. I get bored just thinking about playing it. You know it's going to be "press a button every 5 minutes to advance to the next hour long drana queen cutscene" basically. You know it is. That type of gameplay is why Sony consoles suck imo.

At 53, that would be well and good, but it isn't a Sony game. Sony doesn't decide when the game is released. If it was rushed out it wouldn't be nearly as good.

Man I wish Trojan did a better marketing job 12 years ago...

MMORPG = Massive Multiplayer ONLINE Role Playing Game
Oblivion = Single player...not online...

Spinter Cell is a steath action game... and one of the best most-innovative games that have come out in a long time. Just because it uses military gadgets, does not make it a MGS clone.

You are not the sharpest tool in the shed...are you?

and FYI...I use to love the Metal Gear series, but now it is a low quality CG movie that has not added anything to gaming in a long while.

So wait, you guys are bahing a game that alot of people enjoy because it has to deal w/Soy, but M$ are the losers who get's ahead start of the concle wars, and then all you get is an oven. Wow, I'm sorry but M$ goes on the punk list for that one. I would give them more credit if they did well when they launched with the other two systems. If PS3 deos better than 360, considering the 360 had a 1 year head start, then 360 is crap.

I think the problem here is that the animation sucks major ass. it's like MGS2/MGS3 animations plastered with better graphics. it actually detracts realism.

but it's still a year away to release. i hope it gets a whole lot better.

Easy fellas. There was a Famitsu article that specifically stated the animations in the MGS4 TGS video were to be placeholder animations used from MGS3 since the MGS4 ones had yet to be finalized.

On a side note, DMC4 looks to have awesome gameplay from the TGS video footage.

what if kojima decides ,when come close to release time ,that he will release it on xbox 360 as well ,like metal gear solid 2 substance .He also originally said it was ps2 exclusive but then decided to go for the xbox platform as well. All i have to say is that if metal gear solid comes over to microsofts 360 ,the ps3 will lose the next gen war , because the final fantasy series is already slowly moving towards the multi platform side,so dont be surprised to here there new arrival on 360 soon as well.

dont underestimate the xbox 360 ,i did ,and now i own one ,but its catering now at the moment for the best games on the market , i will buy a ps3 just for mgs4,but i feel that sony's entering to late ,microsoft now has a very powerful arsenal of great games behind them ,not to mention they are releasing updates and upgrades for the system already. and as i said before if sony lose the mgs and final fantasy series to multi platform, then i will not be buying the ps3.

so theres alot of things to think about already ,but i personally say we will see the winner of the console war by the end of next year, when the machines all have major players on there side

but for now i say microsoft is in with a good chance
