Well, maybe Mah Jong. But thats not enough to lure me into buying a PS3 by any stretch. Maybe in a year or two when the JRPGs come out or something.

I doubt we'll see a final list until like late october, but i'm sure there's gonna be a few EA games in there and hopefully EA wont pull on the PS3 what they're doing with the xbox (missing features) the bastids.

But on that small list only resistance and Gundam hold any interest for me, but then launches never really hold a lot for me anyway as there's only 2 games for Wii i want, maybe 1 or 2 for PS3 and when 360 came out there wasn't much either. But what can ya do?

I've been trying to figure something else out, sorry if it seems obvious.

The PS3 is backwards compatible, right? So if it's region-free, can it play ps1 and ps2 games from anywhere as well?

Resistance does look sweet perhaps sweet enough to be the "halo" of the ps3.

I hate the phrase "launch window" and I hate the everloving souls of whomever coigned the cock-tease phrase it is.

I think Sonic comes out at the end of November for both PS3 and 360, so it'll narrowly miss the launch.

Maybe we need a list of "almost launch" titles. ;)

Do you think the US launch is going to be significantly different, being only 1 week later?

The only difference will be they WON"T launch mah-jong but they'll send Madden 07 or some other EA garbage with it.

Well null, correct me if i'm wrong but isn't splinter cell double agent and COD 3 multiplatform and both ocming on on PS3 as well (I know COD3 is but not too sure on Splinter Cell).

So out of your little list all i can really see is Gears of War and that game is almost as much of a tos sup as resistance is.

ALthough i do know a few people who bought that many games at 360's launch... and never touched them after a day or two.

the first rule of Mah Jong Fight Club is, you don't talk about the famous historical battles of giant enemy crabs.

PS 32, does the rule of inverse ninja strength apply to giant crabs? will one giant crab take down an army where an army of giant crabs will fall to a single foe?

all kidding aside, this launch list is just ok. it's not really better or worse than the 360 launch. I wonder how Insomniac feel about the pressure of launching what I presume to be a gigantically expensive game (it's 22 FREAKING GIGABYTES! wink) to such a small launch base. I imagine they're very nervous that the title will continue to sell very well as more systems become available, or else they'll lose the farm.

The laws of Giant Crab Strength have yet to be defined, although I suspect that they strengthen in direct proportion to their numbers as they can protect each others' weak points from massive damage.

Comparing PS3 launch to 360 launch really doesn't mean anything, for 1 very important reason: 360 launched a year ago, to no competition.

If both systems were launching simultaniously, the comparison would be fair.

Instead, Sony has a mediocre at best launch line-up VS. 360 software thats hitting its second gen, with stellar games all around, and matching PS3 features to boot, for less money (even with the price drop.)

Sony has an uphill battle indeed.

Not a Sony fanboy at all but like someone above said this is the Japanese launch list and it has been said the US launch will have more titles maybe double this amount. I think waiting on an official US launch title list would be wise. With all that said, I could care less about any of those games.

JJ,

Regardless of those games being multiplatform, why would I shell out $500 for a PS3 to play games that I could get for the 360 that I already have?

Besides, I more interested in gameplay than whether or not there's an abundant amount of shadows. Because from all the screenshots I've seen of multiplatform games, the only thing I've seen different on the PS3 is an abundant amount of shadows. Nothing worth not paying rent for a month.

Gundam? Resistance? Good god! You guys are crazy. These games are going to rock my world.

As much as I love Nintendo's philosophy with the Wii, I'm still human; I can't look away from shiny things.

I also have the right set of cards -- mom lives in Japan (cheaper price), and she recently bought a Panasonic 42" HD Plasma, which she said she'd give me once she builds her new home ("I'm going to get a bigger one, then you can have this one." -Mom). Helloooooooo PS3!

Sure, the US lineup will be twice as big... Because it doesn't take EA any time to launch Madden 2005 with updated graphics and rosters and the title Madden 2007.

In all seriousness, Sony has only listed about 30 potential games next year, and one first party game, GTHD, isn't even another sequel, it's literally GT4 with better graphics. Of course, with how long the GT games usually take, (I suspect their download scheme is mainly to avoid saying that GT2005 will come out in 2009) so the fans might like this.

I stopped caring after GT4. Years waiting and $50 for a state of the art game and it's no longer fun. That's how I feel about ps3.

here's a list from over at IGN of some of the more well known PS3 games in development and how far along they are.

Virtua Fighter 5: 70%
Sega Golf Club: 70%
Sonic the Hedgehog 3: 75%
Armored Core 4: 80%
Coded Arms Assault: 50%
Ridge Racer 7: 100%
Gundam Target in Sight: 80%
Gran Turismo HD: 50%
Warhawk: 50%
Unknown Realm: 30%
LAIR: 35%
Motorstorm: 60%
The Eye of Judgment: 70%
Genji: 70%
Resistance: 85%
Minna no Golf 5: 30%
Heavenly Sword: 65%

I'd say anything below 70% won't make it to launch, but this varies, as some games will obviously take longer to develop (i.e. Heavenly Sword) and Warhawk is only 50% done???? That game was supposed to be their launch showcase the "SIXAXIS" controller. Guess not. So from the looks of it there won't be a single launch game that really takes advantage of the tilt functions in the controller. Resistance might (they said they're trying to get it in) but if it does it won't be anything major...more of just a gimmick to have a launch game compatible with the feature.

yeah but null i can understand that if you have a 360 already you've already paid your money for a system, but for someone who hasn't bought a 360 yet (and trust me there's a lot of them) thats just one less reason to HAVE to buy a certain console ya see what i'm saying?
It goes both ways. Multiplats are both good and bad in a sense.

Besides if ya have no reason to buy a PS3.. why make a comment really? Just be happy and content with your 360.

Yous helled out 400 for a 360 so i dont see what the big deal is someone shelling out 500 or 600 for a ps3 if they so choose.

Heck i'm getting all 3 next gen consoles because i have had all 3 current gen consoles and i figure may as well continue the trend. So buying a game to me thats multiplatform wont be so much "Oh i spent 500 on this system and then 60 dollars for this game boo hoo" but more "what system should i buy something for today?"

Worked last gen, it'll probably work this gen... at least as far as 360/PS3 are concerned anyway... i have to admit Splinter Cell for Wii has me a bit intrigued despite not being as up to date i guess as the 360's version.

Heh, thanks, Holmes.

But you know, it's not all just jokes and giggles. Genji does focus on the sengoku period of Japanese history. It's a fascinating time. Take Oda Nobunaga. He was the first of Japan's great unifiers, and helped revolutionize how combat was conducted in the country. Among the improvements he made was to increase the use of firearms, to assign rank based on ability and not lineage, and to introduce real-time weapon changing.

Well, launches are not really the best time for a system, unless we're talking about the N-Gage or the Gizmondo, are they? SNAP

Please don't forget that the 360 has had it's share of slow months too, if you weren't into Oblivion. I'm sure it's will pick up for the PS3.

The Sega Mah Jongg game was huge in the Japanese arcades, and it was pretty cool looking and fast-paced... a lot like how online poker is - and that got a lot of you excited a month back when it went on XBLA, didn't it? If this one is that good, I might check it out...

Don't sleep on Mah Jongg, fellow gwilos!
