wuddersup please quit commenting unless you can show some sort of bias here, especially when most if not all other similar reports, no matter the preference of the reviewer, are describing the same reaction. You're the most retarded and clueless commenter here. Please leave. Ty.

Just because you were bored for an hour doesn't mean you need to write a huge blog entry about how you fell asleep. 99% of the things people complained about was the price. That has been reduced. Unless your blog entry has some interesting info then don't write anything more. We don't need to read a wall of text about how you fell asleep.

Talk about shooting the messenger...wouldn't it make more sense to complain about Sony having a keynote that puts people to sleep, instead of someone reporting that that's what it did?

The reason Kutaragi and Sony want to label the PS3 a computer is because that way they can avoid EU taxes on game consoles. If it's not a game console but rather a computer, then no taxes. More money for Sony, less money for greedy socialists.

"If anyone has Sony stocks, you best get rid of them now."

i'm sure M$ marketing guys would be a lot more successful by properly selling the system through normal means than by astroturfing in blogs like joystiq.

but, who knows? astroturfing may seem legitimate grassroots to most internet sheeps...

foobob

he is right. same for ms stock though ms stockholder have more to look forward 2 like a 30 billion stock buy back. which is huge if u know anything about the stock market

both are down 1.5 percent. sony for a poor showing and loss confidence in their consoles

ms for admitting launch consles had issues and refunds will be isued for those who paid to get thiers fixed out of the warrnaty period and extended the warranty by 1 year.

facts are sony ha da poor showing for a console maker 2 months befor launnch at was is and has been their premier show. I remebr some of the hype comming out when ps2 was alunched. TGS was hot. Many of u are 2 young to remebr but this is not what u expect this close to launch. this is where u tell us about the online. Its extra features like media connectivity. Shopw some one playing a game like say when ms played bludragon for the press.

theres more questions than answers than in a dark room they say we nned to drop the price for the jap consumers. More than saying we will continue to rape the rest of the world. So sony lost an opportunity with the wolrd watching to how why u should by a no rumble expensive machine. With devs saying they ahve no details on online its even more worrisome cause what kind of network will they have.

All in all they get an F. It was boring Afrika was the last taste in ur mouth did no leave the press nor myself with a feeling of i need that machine. Wii is riding its own wave from 2005 tgs where they showed u a new way to play games. Thats what a keynote should be. Show us how cool it is. Show us how it will knock ,my socks off.

with 360 and wii both 249.00(360 comes with either 2 older games or a copy of bludragon. yup and for 249.00) sony is in a world of hurt. They couldn;t even mention the price drop in their keynote. it came well after. thats upsetting.

all in all i know as much about the ps3 as i did after e3. and thats nothing concrete. so while the joystiq bashing is fun its not just their oppinion but the opinion of the whole gaming indiustry who was left in utter shock at how sony has lost it. Launch comming up in a lil under 2 months and u do what talk about google earth and show africa? best new has to be the emulators itg will do but thats no reason to spend 200 more when i already, as does any other gamer i know who is a gamer, have emulator for every game we have ever played growing up. I still play road rash. remerb that game.

any way its sony;s fault and theya re paying for it.

I totally called this like a year ago!
It's SO simple to manipulate the consumer!

1 : Issue press releases that refer to the nearly-magical powers of your new technology.
Go with the times! Emotion Engine. The Cell Processor. Something fantastic and scientific sounding. Be sure to mention any national research labs (that you've only ever met at a trade show) as possible customers. Supercomputer in a chip! etc!

2 : Announce that this new tech is so marvelous that you might need to work a second job to even afford the *down-payment* on it.
Make sure that the public feels that this tech is -exclusive- and -elite-. Mention that it will be sold at a huge loss. This will convince many to buy purely for the conceived *value*. (The though process goes something like "This Cell processor, valued at well over $250,000 can be MINE! .... for only..... $600!!!)

3 : Announce the "HYPE-STAGE-01" price.
"$600?! A little rich for my blood, but hey, the thing has Metal Gear 4!"
Be sure to mention all of the amazing features that it can bring into your home. Make stuff up! DVR/Tivo-like functionality, dual-HDMI outputs, whatever. They won't remember anyway! (well, the nerds will)

4 : Reduce price to the level you had planned anyway and act as though you really doing the customer a favor. The perceived value will only *feel* that much higher.

5 : LAUNCH!
The launch titles are unimportant as you can always sell them movies on strange new formats that are themselves magical and wonderful. (UMD movies carried the PSP through (on one good leg) until the 2nd round of must-own PSP games were released, right?) People will forgive early mistakes simply as early attempts to wrap a human mind around the infinitely complex, enigmatic and six-axis processing abilities of The Cell.

5 : PROFIT!
(well, maybe... after at LEAST two or three years of eating it though.)

Sony is really getting good at screwing up... E3 was less than entertaining... i loved watching some guy clear his throat while he tried to make a game about giant crabs sound like it was a true story... This one they just kinda rambled on about how they were better than everyone else, just like all the mud they're slinging at everyone... they're giving me alot of faith in the PS3... i mean, if an old man in a suit standing on a stage can be this fun, how much cooler could the PS3 be?

Geez, if the translators suck so much why don't you take your own? I'm into games and do nothing but interpretation and translation in IT and would love to get into TGS on press day. Buy me lunch and I'm all yours baby ;)

I think it is a miscalculation to relate previous success models on Sony's part. Currently reports relate that the Japanese development edge and Japanese consumer support is starting to sag. Previously, the console development cycle was always to release first in Japan, then the U.S., then Europe. This model has changed. I think with the announcement of the Japanese price drop, this indicates that Sony is still fixated on this obsolete model, and that if Japan supports it, the world will follow...a gross misjudgement.

Maybe Sony should have started off using the sixaxis controller to conduct an video game orchestra... going slow and fast.. lol Sony did well at the show... you'd think they were the only ones at the show.

"Go to EVERY OTHER gaming website and you can see they have the same opinion."

little correction:

"Go to EVERY OTHER M$-paid gaming website and you can see they have the same opinion."

I go to most of these, including the Zonk articles in Slashdot, and it's the same: Sony bashing with readers furious with the article and poster.

I'm sure japanese gaming websites -- where an american company like M$ can't have much of an impact -- show a very different opinion...

"wouldn't it make more sense to complain about Sony having a keynote that puts people to sleep"

A keynote by Bill Gates showing a BsoD on their next operating system a few years ago never hampered M$'s fortunes... let alone a keynote which puts a mentally-14-years-old to sleep.
