So... Snake's not really that old? Okay...

The game looks hot. Too bad I stopped playing MG games after Sons of Liberty. Snake Eater just pissed me off.

I'm no PS3 fanboy, but don't forget 2 things: it's a first-gen PS3 game, and you're watching it on a low quality internet stream in 320x305.

You people have no right to complain with the graphics of MGS4. You are judging the graphics from teeny weeny screen. The video is bad quality not the game.

Looks like a new "Snake" that's been trained. I wonder if he's one Snake out of another three.

This one seems like it's gonna look as good as GRAW was at the point it was released for 360. It won't be a "first-gen" game compared to others but it will the best of the first quality PS3 games... emphasis on quality, because we all know the kind of crap that came out on PS2 and PSOne as "filler" games.

Christ, almighty.

As for this video.. well. That last bit in the end REALLY threw me for a loop. Maybe... "Old Snake" isn't really out beloved Solid Snake.

But.. BIG BOSS?!

Yeah WTF is with the graphics?
The video they showed at the E3 was impressive,it was like watching a movie.
But now this looks like a N64 game.
Is not just bad graphics but the movements are not fluid at all. This reminded me on Call of Duty the very first one.
Just look at that picture, and see the blockines when you look at those two white lines in the middle.
This is sad.
AS well I have to point out those cartoonish moves that old dude is pulling off is pathetic,haha... rolling down the street in a barrel and knocking down your enemies is something you see in a kiddy game, not Metal Gear Solid.
Weak!

A couple of geektastic things to mention:

1. Old Snake and Young Snake are the same person. Big Boss lost his right eye, and Old Snake, despite wearing the Solid eye device on his left eye, has both eyes. Hense, Solid Snake.

2. Frank Jeager is a puddle of pulp under the foot of Metal Gear REX; he isn't coming back.

3. Snake doesn't miraculously get younger or anything. Pay attention to the introduction to the trailer, and you'll see that his Octocamo mask can apparantly mimic faces (as shown by the blood disappearing early on).

4. Most (if not all) MGS trailers have a joke ending.

6. There's a much higher resolution feed of this video available at gametrailers.com. I advice everyone to watch that version before bitching about the non-existant graphics downgrade any more.

If a streaming 320x200 lowrez movie truly can show the graphics of a game in 1080p, then why can“t we just letting all gaming systems put out 320x200 instead of adding HD-quality?

Ok, i wont personally be owning a PS3 until 8-10 months after its release at the earliest (just like i waited for the 360) but that game looks awesome. Its stylized. Thats why the color choice, and the graphics choices....Can we stay stylized? i knew you could! The texture quality is awesome, the models are awesome. Particle effects are awesomeThe only problem i had with MGS3 was stiffness of controls (that sniper boss was a headache because of this) and the limited size "areas". if they can get those corrected, i'll be a happy camper. It looks like they are trying to correct stiffness by adding more options of attack while you are on the ground and in prone positions and more manuverablity on the ground that before....that could work.

The earlier demo was fake because 360 was out and Sony wanted everyone to think the PS3 had "way better gfx." So they implied it was what the game would look like by adding a bobbing gun like in fps view. I would say it worked to an extent on people who actually believed it. The game will still look like like a solid first gen next gen game, so people shouldn't be so worried.

I cannot believe anybody is complaining. Graphics are completely impressive, gameplay looks fun as hell. The animations do apparently have less frames than what was shown at e3, and the color palette does seem limited in the FEW scenes we have seen, but they aren't a far cry from MGS3...and do these "detractors" somehow make the game less fun to play? ABSOLUTELY NOT. The rolling barrel is not out of place at all in MGS either, and actually made me laugh out loud. Try actually PLAYING the series sometime, as opposed to injecting your bullsh*t opinions on a BLOG. Kworn, Gamer G, Jack Carver: go play Halo and shut your stinkin' mouths. This game was not made for you.

LOL at the n64 comment. Please burn.

if you go to gametrailers.com and view it in full screen at the end you see the white hair then after he lights the cig you see him young. So that mask he is wearing is mostlikly making him look older. This might work to help him get around people I mean you see this old man he doesn't worry you are much as a young man would. Just more camo to help you out.

Holy hell, I cannot wait to get my hands on this game. Every trailer makes the wait that much friggin' harder. Not just for the story teasers and the gameplay, but also 'cause of the music. It looks like the MG:S tradition of amazing soundtracks is continuing in this game. That piece they play through the first half of this video...I would put up mad cash just for that alone. Gave me goosebumps. Damn.

Ok hold up is Konami using a Older epic engine? Where are the physics combine with animation? And little things that scream next gen? Yes it's low res here but I've already seen the high res one. It seems that they are still trying to find ways to keep the poly count low... I agree with a few post above... The game play isn't too fun... I think this is why people are complaining the most. Then you add that to the fact that alot of people where buying a PS3 for this... a game that should have been on the PS2... Really don't lie to your selves. Face it gamers are cheap.
Really it's coming out in 2007 or later you can't really call it a 1st gen title... thats like calling gears of war a first gen title. Plus too how da hell is a barrel suppose to stop assult rifle bullets? I was really expecting snake to just lay there as blood ran out of the barrel. Maybe if the guard all had 22s or some thing but assult rifles...LOL Thats sounds like some thing Bush would send to troops over in Iraq. I know this is make believe but come on it just looks so frigging silly and clumbsy. The guy at the end of the e3 trailer was f^ckin sweet... And the new Cow feet mechs are super weird and deadly aglie.. which is sweet. But it's funny The PS3 may suffer from the same thing arcades suffered from. They have price them selves too high for a fan base thats a little bit older now and don't really see the point of paying for just better graphics ( which are suppose to be exciting instead of academicly high resolution wise ).

Even Kojima Has expressed his feelings about moving on from the MG franchise. Will he let it die on the PS3? Or will the PS3's price kill it? Yeah I know there is a price drop but even at that price you are expecting killzone Prerendered graphics and Nintendo Wii gameplay. With out any thing else to move on to graphicly has the 3d age hit the same road block as the 2d age when the PS1 first appeared?

Well back to another point... Low res... Huh? The DMC4 video you can't even tell whats going on half way but yet it still looks way more fun to play. It even gets the shake cam award too yet it turns out to look better game play wise and graphics wise... and there is even some physics in there.. even though it may be canned.

I don't understand why people knock on a game that is getting released in late 2007! Considering that you guys shouldn't be hating at all! The graphics are great, and it looks really fun. I can't wait for this game, and like Tom said, it'll probably be the only game I really want for PS3. I have been sold on that system since word of MGS4 came out.

Doom3's succeeded in showing his ignorance of the franchise, and, well, everything he was talking about.

Some of the enemy animations seem like MGS3, though the graphics are the same. Hopefully Kojima will update the animations for the generic soldier, but no huge loss as the animations have always been pretty good.

And about the barrel thing, have you guys even played an MGS before!?!?

And the Xbox and 360 and Gamecube and PSP and DS etc...

Playstation's just suffer it the worst because they have the biggest third party developement.

That guy at the end, I don't know where people got Frank Jaeger from, that's just wishful thinking I believe. Could easily be another clone, or something to that effect. I find guesswork/speculation lessens any mystery, take Kojima's trailers, hints, and unanswered questions at face value, then play the games.

It's not fun going into them knowing everything about it.

Lawd almighty, please help these heathens; they know not what they do.

This game looks absolutely incredible. The graphics, the new CQC and prone position moves... I don't give a shit if Snake is indeed old and that young looking guy at the end was just a joke or a disguise. Snake can still kick a lot of ass. Even the beginning, with the old man getting up and smirking... oooo, I can still feel the shivers.

Most of the animations are retained from MGS3 for use as place holders. They aren't final.

And most of the naysayers for this game haven't played any MGS game, obviously. YES, the "barrel roll" DOES belong in there. Hell, in MGS3 you could throw a fucking snake at an enemy! That's funny as shit!

And by the way? I couldn't resist.

http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/4531/doabarrelrollmk9.jpg

Man, I cannot WAIT for this game. If I were gay, I would totally marry Kojima.

The graphics really don't look good as the original trailers. Not that far off, but definetly u can tell even from how the ground looks and snakes face its not as detailed anymore.

That doesn't really bug me tho. What does bug me is the seemingly dumb AI. Are u kidding me? that robot just walked up to that soldier and fried his nuts while he just stood there. And the AI soldiers running around like dumbassed while snakes in his stealth camo, which isn't even that hard to notice (especially when he was up against that wall). I remember when I first played mgs2, I got detected for the first time so I'm like "hah i'll just do what i did in mgs1, go hide under a vent/big metal box and they'll just stand around like idiots and eventually go away... to my surprise they bent down and started gunning me in the hole...". Shocking, yet thrilling at the same time... it wasn't the same old game anymore. This is the kind of stuff i expect from sequels (mgs3's had the AI soldiers getting eye exams and losing the cone vision for example). The rolling barrel is just stupid, not only was it unrealistic how well he could maneuver that thing but it was able to withstand assault rifle rounds? AND knocked over the soldiers as if they were dolls.

Someone mentioned this is a first generation game above, it's not. It's coming out (from what kojima said) AT THE EARLIEST late 2007... this means u can expect somewhere in 2008. Even if it came late 2007, that wouldn't be first gen anyway.

The video looks fine, my concern is that the gameplay doesn't look all that changed. Great, Snake can now roll onto his belly and use camoflauge. That isn't exactly anything new.

Obviously Konami has some time to spice up the game, but the gameplay doesn't look as smooth or as different from any other action or adventure game in the past four years.

If you guys bothered to look at the recent high res Famitsu scans on gamesarefun.com (which are screencaps of this same trailer) you'll see it is as high quality as the past trailers. Wait for a true HD trailer (but then you will still not believe it).

The only thing confirmed to be missing at the moment is mocaped animations, only the prone animations were mocaped thus far.

Besides, as others have pointed out, everything's going to look first gen PS2 in 320x280. Try waiting until you see it in 1080p before making a judgement.

Er...when i played metal gear solid 2..i was like wow...it had everything..metal gear solid 3 was even better in graphics...but metal gear solid 2 story was too good. Now..about metal gear solid 4... look at the graphics..i mean i noticed that tgs 2005 trailer was probably the best graphics for this game...since then graphics started to decline for some reason..it doesnt look that realistic...instead it looks like a game developed by EA. Honestly..there is no realism... look at killzonem trailer we saw last year..which looked awesome even if it were pre rendered..metal gear solid 4 looks like a marvel game...from a comic book... twin snakes looks more real then metal gear solid 4 (graphics and in general)..i mean i dont normally say this..because i just love metal gear solid games so much..but im actually dissapointed...it looks liek a ps2 game..there is nothing next generation about it! I thought this is suppose to rival hollywood films...! Theres no excitement anymore
