You are what you tattoo
On the less horrific end of the video game crime tie-in spectrum, this one has a pwned n00b quality to it.The Canadian Mounties have apprehended the nefarious mastermind criminal Shylo Kujawski of Vancouver after a sixteen month... oh, who are we kidding? The kid got nabbed because he had a tattoo that said "grand theft auto" on his back. That's not a crime, although it should be, but guess what he does professionally?
Using the tattoo to identify Kujawski as a convicted auto thief -- because apparently the kid doesn't wear shirts -- the Mounties set a trap to lure Kujawski into stealing a specific car. He obliged the officer's trap and tried to steal that car, promptly getting himself arrested.
Ok, so he got pwned, but what about the n00b part? Kujawski thwarted his own attempt to steal the car by enabling the steering wheel lock on the vehicle.Tommy Vercetti he is not.

Where is Jack Thompson when you need an idiot to blow a story out of proportion, thus bringing entertainment to your bored self when you need him?

If he really is what his tatoo said, how come he didn't whip out a bazooka?

Hey, just thought I'd point out that this trap, probally wasn't set for him in particular, the vancouver area has a 'bait car' program. Basically the cops set up some tempting cars, but with cameras and mics for proof who is stealing, as well as with gps and the ability to remotly disable the engine. Then they leave these cars in mall parking lots and other such places that have a high car theft rate.
Though I haven't caught the actual story on this guy, this is probally what happened.
You can watch some of the real bait car videas here
http://www.baitcar.com/
Some of them are pretty hilarious, expecially the ones where the criminals make comments of "I hope this isn't a bat car."

um.. this article is kind of wrong.. I live in vancouver and saw this in the newspaper. He has stolen 16 cars.

What a dumbass! He would have gotten away with it if he just pressed R1 R1 Circle R2 Up Down Up Down Up Down.

Okay, wow, this site and Engadget both need to turn on spell check. Earlier I left a comment on an Engadget post about a typo, "pwn" and now I've found it again on a story here. I would think that by now this site would have some form of spell checking going on but I guess not. A four year old might have better grammar then this. Is it intentional? Are you trying to express to your readers that you can't spell? Are spelling errors fun? If you expect to be taken seriously then print seriously.
Cosmos @ Sep 23rd 2006 10:09PM
Mac user, either you actually know what "pwned" means and you just believe that Joystiq shouldn't being using "internet speak," (or whatever you want to call it) or you're pwned yourself. That would be ironik!
Exbzurg @ Sep 23rd 2006 10:12PM
to Mac User:
pwn is accepted in gaming culture and can be seen often as an acceptable form of gamer grammer, and since this is a gaming site it is perfectly acceptable.
pwned!

To Mac User:
"A four year old might have better grammar then this. "
It's THAN, not THEN.
Kritz @ Sep 23rd 2006 10:35PM
Shogan wins. Hands down.
On topic: That's what you get for playing a crappy game. Err, unless he's talking about the original two Grand Theft Auto games. These new 3D games are wiggity whack.

whether or not Mac User is just screwing around, this guy deserves to be shot just for having such a stupid tattoo. if I was going to get a Rockstar Games tatoo, I'd get some Table Tennis.

What's up with Canada lately? Jees.

As a resident of Vancouver (the city in question) auto crime is nothing new. It's a very common crime in Vancouver and this is why we were the first city to adopt "bait cars". This is just a punk kid stealing the wrong car. There was no "luring" involved. Cops just park the car in a high crime area (downtown eastside) and wait until someone steals it.
The cops often release the videos from the cars. It's funny as hell seeing some dude on meth freaking out as the car locks all of the doors and cuts the engine.

A trip down to the local Pay'n'Spray is in order
Some_Jerk @ Sep 24th 2006 2:23PM
Shouldn't that tatoo read "Respect is Everything"?
thunderleg @ Sep 26th 2006 4:16PM
This was probably just added to Jeff Foxworthy's routine.
