L.A. Noire: Rockstar's latest is a black & white mystery

Rockstar has unveiled L.A. Noire, a period piece developed by Team Bondi, a new Australian studio founded by Brendan McNamara (The Getaway). Set in 1940's L.A. (before the freeways), L.A. Noire explores a series of gruesome murders through the eyes of, we assume, a detective.We've eyed a 37-second teaser, which sweeps through an eventless urban street scene, while a horn whines a sleepy jazz tune. We suspect, like The Getaway, Noire will be less open-ended than GTA and will rely on cinematic elements to keep gamers interested. While billed as a "next-generation" title, Rockstar has not specified platforms.

This could be really good. As a big fan of Phillip Marlowe, I would love to see this done correctly. Here's hoping.

too bad they didn't just license the Sin City property and do it up like that. Methinks this is sort of a take on that genre/style. Ought to be cool though

Cause we all know Sin City created the noir genre. And this type of film certainly wasn't popular in the late 40's-1950's

But L.A. Noire has been a known PS3 project for about a year now.

It will tell you it is a PS3 site.
So will ever other major gaming site (Gamespot, IGN, etc.)
Yeahhhhhhhhhhh..might want to edit that.

Hooray for more Aussie developers. We need more of them. It was an Aussie studio that developed both Dark Reign games too... cant think of any others off the top of my head.

Wow those guys came to my uni (when i was in uni) about 3 years ago, all they showed were some old american photos and said they werent allowed to talk about the ps3 much but were developing for it, they havent changed the name since then which is the only reason i remembered it

Great, first Rockstar unleaches brutal killers on the world with GTA. Then they breed an infection that rips through the public turning everyone into amazing ping pong players. Soon they're going to cause massive school murder/suicide crimes. Then they're going to come out with this and either suck the very COLOR out of our universe, or send us all BACK IN TIME!

Totally reminds me of Max Payne. The have created enough sense of mystery around this game, I will find myself checking it out.
