First images of Wii-mote used in domestic violence [update 1]
The first video of a remote from the Wii being used in a shocking bout of domestic violence appeared on the web, and it ain't pretty. This baby packs quite a virtual punch and is perfect for deadbeat husbands and perturbed older housewives. While Nintendo tries to bring more mature-rated games to the table, these images clearly show the dangers of wielding a skillet with a Wii-mote.
Please report any Wii-buse to your local authority, unless the person really deserved it.
[Thanks for the image goodness, ejflex]

BOOM Headshot!!
I really dont get the point of this....
FSK405K @ Sep 26th 2006 11:46AM
Is this post a joke? I don't see a link to Youtube or anything. Just some 10-frame gif of a Wiimote Photoshopped into some movie or TV clip. Guys?
Ben @ Sep 26th 2006 11:58AM
... I think maybe someone had too much free-time.
vc @ Sep 26th 2006 11:50AM
That's it, FSK. It's a sight gag. It's funny.
reader rabbit @ Sep 26th 2006 11:51AM
Must be a "slow reader day" judging from SFK and Adam's comments.
darryl @ Sep 26th 2006 11:51AM
Fucking stupid.
Jay @ Sep 26th 2006 11:54AM
Abso-bloody-rubbish.
Judd @ Sep 26th 2006 11:56AM
Although I don't regularly watch the show(after the first couple of episodes of the first season, I couldn't stand it anymore), I get the impression this is from Desperate Housewives. This is judging by the ABC logo on the corner of the image and the line "and perturbed older housewives." This is just a fun little joke some person sent into Joystiq. Not every post needs to be important, and even though I plan on buying a Wii at launch, I can still take a joke. PLEASE DO NOT LET THIS TURN INTO A FLAME WAR, over how it's not true that the Wii will cause people to get hurt.
Tack Jhompson @ Sep 26th 2006 11:56AM
This isn't funny. Millions of billions of people die every day due to violence caused by cyber murder virtual sumulator machinery apperati! Your ignorance on the subject really shows your moral inferiority and immaturity, you murder-loving stupid-faces.
WedgeTalon @ Sep 26th 2006 12:09PM
Geez, where are people's senses of humour today?
Ozyman666 @ Sep 26th 2006 11:57AM
The clip is from TV show "Boston Legal." Betty White as a frying pan-wielding killer is funny.
Jake @ Sep 26th 2006 12:02PM
This is just more proof of the stupid Wii games that will be coming out. Man the Wii and it's Wiitard followers will suck wii. How wiitarded intendo is.
32_Footsteps @ Sep 26th 2006 12:05PM
Reader rabbit just put up one of the funniest comments in Joystiq history. Hands down. It must be propigated.
Reed @ Sep 26th 2006 12:06PM
The clip is from Boston Legal, one of the most consistently funny shows on TV. Betty White was guest starring as a woman who kept killing people and keopt getting away with it.
Xvalue @ Sep 26th 2006 12:07PM
I dont understand why this has to do with the wii?
devian @ Sep 26th 2006 2:31PM
OMGWTFJOYSTIQ, can't you post anything worthwhile, I don't know why I read this garbage and still take time out of my busy day at my internship to read this bullshit.. post news or be journalists... GOD.
Seriously though, ten dollars says Jack Thompson jumps all over this.

I think the bigger story here is....THE NEW BETTY WHITE GAME SCREEN SHOTS!!!!!
FSK405K @ Sep 26th 2006 12:26PM
Grandma frying pan is nothing. How about the Wii game ideas that never passed the focus group test:
"Heil Hitler"...higher score for faster arm-whipping
"The KKK story"...use the Wiimote to make nooses as quickly as possible
"Beat the Bishop"...sort of like Wario Ware but better visuals
"True Religion" ...pick a savior/prophet/etc., doesn't matter which one. Now place him in GTA land, and use the Wiimote to aim your holy revelation weapon at lawbreakers
"Nanking"...You're a Japanese soldier during the invasion of China, armed only with your sword, and all those civilians are your enemy.
"Lewinski"...use the Wiimote while dancing to solicit favors from high-ranking government officials. Would have worked better with Eyetoy.
"Interview with the Bestiality Vampire"...After eating all the humans and rats, Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt have to use livestock for food. But for some reason animal blood isn't helpful unless the animal is arroused. Vibration required.
"The Columbine Game"....oh, someone already did that, sorry. Guess we should ask him if there'll be a Wii port?
What we've learned....pretty much any adult film could be a Wiimote adaptation. And that I'm a sick f###.
Anyone else got anything way past distasteful?

Ben Hobbs @ Sep 26th 2006 12:48PM
rubbish, I used to like coming here regularly but nowadays theres a lack of gaming news and just speculative or weak tie-in related news.
Really whats the point of this post? Stick to the gaming news - what next? a video of a chimpanzee drinking his own piss? hillarious...

What the...?
I could have sworn I added a line about sarcasm/this is at you Judd haha wiitard joke to my 12 comment, like "haha I'm beating the morons to this comment", but it isn't in there. I think Joystiq set me up to look like said moron. lol
saboola @ Sep 26th 2006 1:56PM
For the amount of time one takes to complain about a post they think is stupid or irrelevant, you think you could just scroll past it and ignore it. It takes way more effort to complain, and does not exactly make you look smarter or superior in the process. If Vlad posts something stupid, and you think it as such, skip it. I myself did not find this funny, just stupid. But who cares what I think. You should not, and I wont care about what you think.

Didn't you just contradict yourself there, spending twice as much time as my post to complain about it. Why not just "skip" my comment?
The point is I visit here every other hour or so to see updates, Regardless of what you think I am a customer, i.e Joystiq get paid in some way for me to visit the site at some point. If they want the average age of their readership to be 10 then its fine, if not then its a heads up that people who are probably their ideal readership (age 20-35 with some purchasing power) find this a waste of time.
So if that was the

"The first video of a remote from the Wii being used in a shocking bout of domestic violence"
Come on, Joystiq, did you even look at the image? It's supposed to be illustrating a game in which the user waves the Wiimote to have her hit her husband with a frying pan.
Drew @ Sep 26th 2006 4:06PM
Almost makes you think of Dead Rising doesn't it? I'm sure in about a year there will be plenty of people making videos of themselves with them using their Wiimote in creative ways =D and then posting it on YouTube. Well bring it on Jack Tompson. Bring it on...
squeakstar @ Sep 26th 2006 4:07PM
sheesh! i can't believe the dry tossers who do nowt but moan about this site; whether it be fanboyism in one direction or another or the fact that there is an amusing post just for the sake of it...
joystiq - carry on as you are!
Dallas Rosenbusch @ Sep 26th 2006 4:43PM
The internet was founded so people could waste time and complain about stupid things.
But, seriously, if you don't like it, don't bitch and moan, leave. But, oh wait, then you wouldn't get ny attention.
Nathan M @ Sep 26th 2006 4:53PM
I thought is was funny. What I find funnier are the people that don't realize that Joystiq is a blog-not a news site-and that no one is forcing them to read. Go to IGN or Gamespot if you want NEWS. Joystiq is here for fun. :D
DCSimian @ Sep 26th 2006 4:48PM
That show has an abundance of frying pan related murders...
Still awesome though!

Its still a business and it doesnt bill itself as a comedy site, If I want news I would go to the BBC, for jokes I would go to Something Awful. For games news and info I come to Joystiq. I don't see what the fact that its a blog has to do with anything, The people who post are paid, and in my books that makes them journalists/bloggers whatever....
I'll find another place to get my games news, its not a problem for me - just posting my views on the fact I think its a pointelss post, after all thats what comments are for, right? to comment on the article.
Dallas Rosenbusch @ Sep 26th 2006 8:19PM
You heard him. Bloggers aren't allowed to make jokes. SOMEONE INFORM THE BLOGOSPHERE!
PapaChabre @ Sep 26th 2006 11:38PM
Aww...I want to beat grandpa with the frying pan, too! Maybe if I buy a Wii and get Opera, and if Nintendo still makes it Adobe Flash compatible, and if some Flash game designer out there hears my desperate cries, I too can beat grandpa with the frying pan.
kobewan @ Sep 27th 2006 1:51AM
I still don't understand it : would people rather see nothing than a quirky post like this? I could understand people complaining if interesting side posts were taking the place of the main gaming news, but these kind of posts are just useed to complement the main news. If there isn't anything to report, would you rather they made gaming news up (see: Robert Summa. Sorry, I just had to)?
radjago @ Sep 27th 2006 7:15AM
You could at least have the common courtesy to host the image on your own servers instead of hotlinking it.
Judd @ Sep 29th 2006 11:57AM
Well Jake, if Joystiq did "set you up" to look like a moron, I would say they were pretty successful.
