actually Play.com have been taking orders since the day they announced the price. oh and most deals around are terrible, they seem to be bundling games and charging RRP on everything!

and if you think £200 ($400) is bad you should check out freemans.com:

Nintendo Wii Console + Zelda: Twilight Princess
£279.99 ($530)

This is the post that I've been waiting and begging for. Wii pre-order information is the only thing that matters now. I’m sold on the system, I just need to get a sweet bundle on The Day. I’ve never waited in line to purchase a consumer product before, and I feel a bit silly doing it for a game console when I’m almost 28, but I am *so* friggin’ there.

I am going to sit on the sidelines and wait to see the big guns (Best Buy, Wal-Mart and the rest) draw their six shooters before I let my pre-order dollars slip out the pre-order door though, but the 800 pound gorillas better weigh in soon or I am go nuts-o.

I've been rabidly hitting refresh on the Wiishlist pre-order site, but I don't know how trustworthy they are. I would much rather just come here and see a happy little ticker on the main page that gives me all of the pre-order info that I need. A post like this is nice, but it could get buried and this information is WAY too important not to be extremely prominently displayed.

Gameplay.com began taking wii preorders today too. As did street retailer Game (game.co.uk) who are currently limiting preorders to those registered to the wii mailing list.

I've bought a Wii with Zelda and Red Steel for £259.99. then purchased more individual games from gameplay. Game are only selling console bundles at present and only offer around 4 games.

What about stores in the U.S.? I usually buy my games from Fred Meyer, so I was hoping to find out if they had anything going on yet.

Nobody seems to get that the 2nd controller is the perfect Christmas gift....

To ask for!!

I can go for a month w/o multiplayer (that's about how often a 2P is around) and it'll save me $60

Now if only we knew those damn SD Cards pricing
Oh, and when they said Flash Memory, do they mean Flash (thumb) drives for the USB port?

I'm from the UK and I've gotta say - that "bundle" is RRP for everything. Games will cost £30 here, so maybe we save a penny by getting Monkey Ball and Zelda (two games which happen to be on my launch list) for £59.99.

Even HMV (music store mainly, but does DVDs and games too) are pre-ordering for RRP. The main one to wait for is Gamestation, as they usually undercut the going price for new consoles by at least £10, and offer good bundles (I got my DS on launch day, with Mario 64 pretty much free).

I'm looking into UK pre-orders, and I'll post/email when I find a good bundle offer. But so far we're only seeing RRP packages sadly...

Thumb drives will possibly be compatible, as might any other storage device connected by USB, but the actual console will have its own 512MB of flash memory. And you can search right now for the pricing on SD Cards, unless we're expecting any Nintendo official ones. :P

I preordered from my Home Shopping (Littlewoods Extra) catalogue. True, I do end up paying a little more for it, but since I already have a set aside amount that I pay towards the catalogue each month, it means my actual spendable cash will be going towards extra games. And maybe some controllers, too.
---
Littlewoods Extra : Console, Extra Controller, Monkey Balls and Rayman for £290

Littlewoods (not Extra!) same pack = £310

Great Universal same pack = £319
(Great Universal also have Wii+Zelda = £259, and Wii+Steel+Hawks = £289)

I pre-ordered mine from Gamestation on the high street so I can (hopefully) pick it up on launch day (I was pre-order #30 and they're expecting 50 in their first shipment). The price is full RRP, although they said they'd call me to find out what bundle I want.

I'm hoping to just preorder my wii in game for the launch day and i'll pre-order and games and other bits off play.com as the prices seem to be several pounds cheaper than store prices.

I know someone that works in gamestation though so maybe i'll see if he can get me a little discount! the trouble with these game shops is that all the staff are bound to buy their own wii when the shipment first comes in (and may be a few more for friends/ebay) so there could be a much lower supply in shops that expected :s
