*flails arm wildly above head while saying 'ooh, ooh, me, right here' like a 1st grader*

I actually muttered "oh my god.." when i saw this. I was sorta expecting it since halogen or whatever the halo mod was got shut down, but still, this blew me away. after the intital reaction i started worrying about the whole 'rts on a console' thing but Ensemble reassured me that they're building this soley for the 360 and its controller. there will be no awkward mouse and keyboard to controller transitions to worry about. and after all, bungie isn't gonna let anyone water down the halo experience. i'm stoked.

Meh...

I hate the fact that almost all the trailers are CGI. What's wrong with gameplay?

the high res version on the halo wars website is amazing. i mean wow. i wish they would of made the halo movie (due 2007) using that same type of cgi instead of doing it with real people.

How about the fact that the gameplay at this stage - if there even is any to be shown - would not have the same wow effect?

Maybe shitty movies should make shitty trailers, too.

Woah woah woah now.

I'm a huge fan of Halo, but you guys were actually that excited from this trailer? I just felt like something was off. I felt like they were trying hard but something wasn't quite right. And then when I heard the voice of the Spartan... I don't know if I could play the game hearing that guy's voice every time I moved a group of them some place. :)

Don't get me wrong, I still have hope for it, I don't want them to screw it up, but I'd like to see the actual game!

That Trailer was excellent.

The idea of a boring Real-Time-Strategy game in the Halo universe doesn't excite me at all. I'll check it out, but I will probably hate it.

If I didn't like an AVP RTS, then I definitely will not like a Halo RTS.

That's it! We need Aliens vs Elites vs Predators vs Spartans. Aliens will win damnit. That would be one hell of a FPS game...LOL

where's the gameplay?

there's nothing here to make me think playing the game will be fun, all this shows me is that the cutscenes will be well rendered fmv.

Look, I'm all about getting excited for new games and stuff, but honestly who gives a damn about this trailer? Maybe if the actual game looked like that, then sweet. But whatever, if watching what might as well be a movie trailer that has absolutely nothing to do with what the game will actually look and play like gets you all hot and bothered, please be my guest to drool.

I love this trailer because it does exactly what it's supposed to do: get me excited about a new chapter in the Halo saga. It's not even the game so much that gives me goosebumps. It's knowing that I can see another angle of the Halo universe. Not only that, but the promise of controlling whole armies is intriguing. I know that it's CG, but that doesn't mean we should have no reaction to it whatsoever. Why even watch it, if all you're going to do is dismiss it?

The trailer is only there to announce the game and get people excited by the possibility. And I think it does that admirably.

The trailer that excited me the most was the one for Bioshock. Yeah, it was prerendered CG footage as well, but the atmosphere and the world implied by the trailer look phenomenal. Can't wait to see more of that game. Halo Wars looked cool, too, but for an RTS game, ambiance/world are less important than seeing gameplay. Of course, I'm stoked to see some gameplay eventually from that one.

I cant wait. Ensemble is great at making RTSs. And the fact that it is before Halo: Combat Evolved is cool to. Also, they are Spartans no "Master Chiefs". It is a common mistake, but the games have been out for a while now.

Why can't Halo Wars be a massive FPS with armies of online players, tons of vehicles, and some PC-esque size maps to fight in? Don't get me wrong, I love a good RTS, but take that video and envision a MMFPS instead of an RTS...

I'm not sure why you think it's before Halo: Combat Evolved Erik Stroud but it looks to me like they have the new assult rifles n whatnot. That discouraged me a little bit, I think something was lost in translation somewhere, weren't the spartans pretty much wiped out with master chief as the one or few survivors?

Eh I'm pretty confused over this trailer,

Anticrawl,

They think it's before Halo 1 because the official FAQ at HaloWars.com says so explicitly.

As for the BRs-- we don't know they didn't exist before Halo 2, we just know there weren't any on board the PoA.

looks like all the spartans are acounted for

I think the time frame for this is between the start of the spartan project and the fall of reach

Music and voices(the spartans) set me off. Music too Midi sounding and voices just seemed B movie to me. The animations and models for the humans and the first covi elite, oh man. Basically stop watching when the rest of the Elites appear and it's great. After that it seems, as said before, a tad...off.

But then again I'm a DoW kind of guy, not a Empire Earth fan.

I think it's safer to say it's pre Halo:CE due to the large numbers of spartans and a greater range of battle fields they can cover then having a rifle throw things out of wake. It's also likely pre Halo:CE just so the game can effect the other games as little as possible, continuity wise. Lets cross our fingers though and hope for a good mix with the Novels, which isn't likely in my opinion (fault of many games of the past, not sequals but rather games sticking to a established "universe" often find it not fitting their ideas for missions and gameplay or it's not even considered at length to begin with).

I think it'll look pretty but it'll play like Empire Earth.... and I'll probably buy it anyways and see if i'm just full of steam.

If you look closely at the other soldiers, they didn't seem to have the Mjolnir Armor. It was a similar helmet and pads, the rest was cloth.

The reinforcements that stepped up over the clif had the Armor, interesting.

If this ties in with the story, it would bode well for M$ and the Halo following.

Yeah! One of the hardest genres to master that will feature hundreds of units doing battle on screen at once is going to be VERY HOMOSEXUAL!

Man. I can feel the buttsecks from here.

Err, that last line was on a completely different topic. Please ignore it. And apparently my backspace key isn't working, so I can't go back and erase it.

WHERES MASTER CHIEF!!! LOL........ I wish they wouldn't head into this direction of games. I mean come on i wana do some first person shooting ass kicking not some strategy stuff.(unless its really good) I wish they made more like about the Covenenant wars between another race or something. But i don't work for Bungie so I can't really do a thing.

Anticrawl,
like Erik Stroud said, this game will take place before the original halo. It says in on halowars.com, it says it on bungie.net, it says it anywhere you look. so it's entirely plausible that there be a large number of spartans in the video. also, that means there's no flood...
