I wonder if this means I can huck the thing at my friend's heads when they insist on using Magneto in Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
Dylan @ Sep 28th 2006 5:31AM
Dude....... I want this so bad. Cuz ya know, it's nerf or nothing.
Xbudz @ Sep 28th 2006 5:44AM
Looks like it's made of the Nerf football material.. how cool! I hope they make oone like this for Xbox 360.
Eric Von Shpeel @ Sep 28th 2006 6:08AM
unless Sony gave these guys permission they are going to get sued for using their copyrighted Square, Triangle, Circle, Cross buttons
Anthony @ Sep 28th 2006 6:34AM
Ha, as soon as I saw this I thought to myself, "I gotta pick this up for my friend".
In Madden he will have rages like a little 2 year old and throw the controller. Now at least he will be able to throw it and not worry about it breaking.
Yay for Nerf! Btw, they still owe me a refund on my water gun. The tricker broke...
Pole @ Sep 28th 2006 6:49AM
you're a bit ridiculous with the microsoftisms lately
jesus_bon_jovi @ Sep 28th 2006 6:51AM
Its Nerf or Nothing!

Uhh, it's from Pelican. They make controllers for PS2 & XBOX. (perhaps others I'm not aware of)
SDF @ Sep 28th 2006 7:38AM
This is great and only 5 years late
J B Cougar @ Sep 28th 2006 8:22AM
I read the post too quickly; thought Sony had redesigned the PS3 controller again. :-/
Calous @ Sep 28th 2006 5:43PM
Joystiq really went down hill ever since aol bought out weblogs inc.
Really the xbox fanboy crap needs to go. Its annoying and there are a thousand other game news blogs we can visit without it...
Brandon @ Sep 28th 2006 8:32AM
If it's made by Pelican, it's going to suck. The buttons will have a very hard click. Trust me, I have two Pelican wireless Xbox controllers that cost me six bucks and they're barely worth that. Then I have two Pelican Gamecube controllers that I bought for about $10 a piece two years ago. They're the worst ones. And pelican DS styli scratch the DS screen much faster than official Nintendo ones. And their screen protectors ruin the screens with glue.
master @ Sep 28th 2006 8:41AM
err... ideas like that always made me think about the amount of human stupidity that is used for profit...
existonfile @ Sep 28th 2006 8:57AM
Hey Vlad,
Speaking of odd controllers, when are you gonna close out the limerick contest and send me the chocolate 360 controller that I won?
Love,

Alex @ Sep 28th 2006 9:11AM
That was the uggliest piece I have ever laid eyes on.
Gerwurztraminer @ Sep 28th 2006 9:27AM
Now if they just had some sort of Nerf controller launching device I'd be all set.
JAC @ Sep 28th 2006 10:27AM
There's already a perfect controller made for the PS2, it's wireless and it's even better than the original dual shock 2, the Cordless Action Controller made by Logitech .
solomonrex @ Sep 28th 2006 10:40AM
On a serious note, the controller branding is out of hand.
MadCatz finally realized what a damaged brand they have, but instead of fixing their controllers, they're re-releasing them with "GameShark" brands!
And now Pelican is trying to hide! Where will it stop?
feverae86 @ Sep 28th 2006 10:42AM
hahaha, friends and I were joking just the other day about a controller that could withstand the impact of throwing after a round of trying to read the text in Dead Rising
Nerf FTW!1!!!
maxx77 @ Sep 28th 2006 11:13AM
I've already broken a wireless 360 controller (thanks, Fight Night!), a Gamecube controller, several SNES controllers, a Dreamcast controller, oh, and a Dreamcast itself (that'll teach it to erase my 4x memory card)... so, yeah, a Nerf controller is LONG overdue. Give me a Wii Nerf remote and then we're talking!
Almack64 @ Sep 28th 2006 11:23AM
I agree, if its really throw resistant and not just a pop branding scheme then maybe they are on to something. I've got PO'D at a game and tossed my number of controllers in my days... I've also tossed my N64... that wasn't such a great idea...
ketsuke @ Sep 28th 2006 12:00PM
Sigh, if only they would have released this a few years ago. I destroyed a couple SNES controllers playing Street Fighter II. I was in the highest difficulty setting trying to beat the game without losing a fight. Damn M. Bison and his cheap moves!
All Your Lost Socks @ Sep 28th 2006 12:06PM
I need to get this for my boyfriend for Christmas or something. His PS2 controller is not the only one that has been hurled to its detriment in rage, but it is the only one that rattles noticeably when shaken and goes "clunk.. clunk.. clunk" instead of rumbling.
Scott @ Sep 28th 2006 12:07PM
its funny its shaped more like a 360 controller than a dualshock. I would never buy a cheap-ass 3rd party controller though.
Chessasaur @ Sep 28th 2006 12:24PM
Looks like it will be very comfortable for long gaming sessions. Hope the "handles" are squeezable - good exercise for the hands while playing. Just hope the D-pad and buttons don't suck. If you buy one, get it from some place that is easy to return to.
wolfking @ Sep 28th 2006 12:51PM
i would not be really excited about this because it is a cheap looking controller
killploki @ Sep 28th 2006 1:03PM
i took one of my original xbox controllers (the big one)one time bt the cord, swung it at the ground and then it bounced up and nailed me in the chin. i was already angry enough to smash the controller, so needless to say getting hurt in the process didnt calm me down.
a couple of hours later i was performing surgery on my controller to make it work again.....once i realized how much i hate the "s-type" xbox controller.
Pac Man @ Sep 28th 2006 1:11PM
What the hell is nerf?

Perfect response.
You'd better get stars for that.
rudimentalist @ Sep 28th 2006 2:48PM
Hehe my friend in Malaysia didn't know what Nerf was. "They make weapons for kids."
FSK405K @ Sep 28th 2006 5:25PM
You all have serious anger management issues. Do it the old fashioned way and beat your woman instead. She heals.
rockintom99 @ Sep 28th 2006 6:12PM
This is quite brilliant. My brother goes through a *large* amount of controllers (Curse you, rush 2049!)
Mr. Khan @ Sep 28th 2006 6:30PM
I totally agree with Brandon
If it weren't for Pelican's Brain Boy (the ultimate Pokemon GS cheat machine) My Game Boy Color would still work, now it erases all data on all cartridges unless i put them through the Brain Boy itself
And my friend's Pelican-made Dance Mats make me look like even more of an ass than i normally do playing DDR, because their sensitivity is extremely low, which means you gotta Stomp till you can't stomp no more
My stomping rattled his house so severly that a few potted plants toppled, halfway across the house...
Imadogg @ Sep 28th 2006 8:46PM
"its funny its shaped more like a 360 controller than a dualshock. I would never buy a cheap-ass 3rd party controller though."
My thoughts exactly. Looks just like an Xbox controller and nothing like a PS2 controller.
And it's scary how so many people have throwing controller stories.

the xbox 360 has the same layout as the ps2 controller except the left analog stick and d-pad are switched
